Hot Plate Smile Nov 29, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre

We ordered two sets: Beef Steak (at $7) and Chicken with Nachos Cheese (at $6.00). The wait was a little long because there were others in line. If you sit close by, they will deliver the food to you smile

The food is served sizzling hot and the portion is enough to make you full. Steak quality was decent for its price and both portions was $13.00 total.

Quite worth it if you're craving for meat served on a hot plate.

Dessert on a hot day Smile Nov 28, 2013

Kiwi Juice felt freshly squeezed because it was sour in a natural way and there was not presence of syrup. It tasted really real and authentic.
Mango Pomelo

Mango Pomelo

This is a classic at Honeymoon Dessert in Hong Kong with the Mango & Pomelo blending together for a complimentary sweet and sour zest, however, the kick wasn't there. Why do I feel like something is missing?

The prices aren't very cheap, but still affordable but it could be that the atmosphere in the 313 branch doesn't give the exquisite feel that it does in Hong Kong.

Nachos craving satisfied Smile Nov 28, 2013

nachos

nachos

These are exactly how Nachos are supposed to be- not those doritos you get at the movies with nachos cheese, but tortilla chips with a layer of refried beans, cheese, chicken/beef, and jalapenos. They are sort of expensive at $20+ a plate, but I assure you they're filling and great to share with friends smile

The oreo ice cream is not anything special to write about. It literally is a big scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup topped off with an oreo cookie.

Delightful Meal Smile Nov 28, 2013

The last time I had the Black Sheep Cafe was in their older establishment in Bugis, though it's situated in a corner of the basement of a condo, I was surprised to find that lighting was still ample and there were window seats so it didn't feel claustrophobic at all.

I was also surprised to see that they had more staff so it isn't as cozy as it used to be, but they now have a prominent bar area.
I came on a weekend so there was no lunch set menu, but I believe it's a good deal to go there for lunch then sit there and have tea to either chill or to study. I miss their dinner set menus that they used to have though.

The total meal cost about $150 which included escargot, 4 main courses, and 2 desserts. Black Sheep Cafe does not include GST and Service Charge smile That's really worth it considering the cuisine, environment, and quality of the food!
Escargot

Escargot

Escargot was very huge, however the garlic and butter did not get infused in the meat, so it wasn't particularly tasty.
Duck Confit

Duck Confit

We ordered two portions of the duck confit ($26.50 each). The mashed potatos were done very nicely as my sister kept on trying to take them from me (none of that instant stuff). What's in the spoon is sort of like a mango salsa which had an indian flavor to it.

My dad ordered the Pork Cheek at $28.50 and said that the pork tasted like ham since it was rather salty shocked I'm not too sure because I didn't want to waste my stomach space and savor every bite of what I had ordered with space for dessert. tongue

Lamb ranks at $38.60 were done very well. I think the picture captures it well cause I'm salivating just looking at it and thinking back

Lemon Cheesecake was just the right thickness that leaned towards an American Cheesecake without being overbearing as the lemon and citrus helped each bite be really refreshing

Tiramisu came with fruits on top and was very generous with the rum (not for the faint hearted alcoholic), but each bite was so good that it was finished up before we had barely begun. The balance of the ingredients inside were just right.

Frog Porridge Smile Nov 28, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Porridge/Congee | Seafood | Zi Char

With 5 or 6 different flavors to choose from, it's hard to decide which claypot you want to order. Apparently, their house specialty is their white pepper frog leg, but they do have the classic garlic, spring onion, to frog legs with chicken essence.

Seating was quite easy to find, and we ordered the white pepper frog claypot and the sauce goes really well with the porridge and warms you right up. Perfect for a rainy or cold day.

Decided to try their fried frog legs, but they don't seem to be able to do an awesome a job as the claypot. There was too much flour and the portion was just too much to handle after a while.

Their vegetables were served hot, but don't bother ordering their egg omelet as the oysters in there weren't very fresh and still had sand in them (come on, it's a place that specializes in frog porridge). Order the frog porridge and try not to experiment too much with their seafood.

They really are good in marketing though cause ordering 2 frogs means they will give you 1 additional frog free..etc.
