Lunch Set is very worth Smile Nov 27, 2013

Categories : American | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal

Came here on a weekday and was surprised that they had a Set lunch that is available from 11am to 2pm.
It includes access to their Buffet Salad Bar, Soft drinks, and a single scoop of ice cream.
I think it's super worth it, say, if you come at 11am and eat till you're bloated, you'd barely be hungry for dinner!

I ordered their Black Pepper Sirloin Steak which is $19.90 ++, and my friend ordered the Pan Grilled Salmon which is also $19.90++

The service staff was very hasty in trying to get our orders, but I think there seemed to be a lack of communication between the staffs themselves. Better communication between them would allow them to be more efficient.

Steak was supposed to come with seasonal veggies which turned out to be the squash and tomatoes pictured. Presentation-wise it was a little below my expectations, but then I reasoned that the vegetables were technically already available via the salad bar. The steak was rather nicely done though and it's really worth it if you consider the price that's on their regular menu.

Salad Round 1

After many rounds...another salad plate.
There are many salad dishes to choose from and they do switch some of the dishes when they run out

Mocha Ice cream was not too sweet nor too bitter. Just right for me to end my meal blissfully smile

Recommended Dish(es):  salad bar,lunch set

Spending per head: Approximately $25(Lunch)

Paradise Smile Nov 27, 2013

Categories : American | Ice Cream and Gelato

Haagen Dazs' Paradise comes with 6 flavors that you can choose from (you need not go by the book).

The flavors that were chosen were Rum Raisin, Green Tea, Mango Sorbet, Macadamia Nut, Cappuccino Truffle, and Tiramisu.

The Tiramisu ice cream flavor was a tad sweet and the cappucino truffle was interesting.
The other flavors did pair well together, however, the ice cream melted rather quickly

Service was really good in the beginning prior to ordering with an attentive waiter, but upon ordering, our drinks were never filled up anymore.

Prawn noodles with Pork Ribs Smile Nov 27, 2013

Categories : Food Court | Noodles

According to my friend, this store has been around a long time and it's good enough that he sometimes have a craving for it.

It's my first time having prawn noodles with pork ribs. Honestly, I'm not too big a fan of prawn noodles cause I usually find that the soup is too salty and I feel really thirsty afterwards. The taste was just right and it wasn't too bland so I didn't get sick of the taste. The portions of hte noodle was also a lot so this bowl would definitely fill you up.

The meat was not too fatty but still soft enough so it wouldn't stick in your teeth smile

The lady who was serving was friendly and was open to refiling the bubbling soup when it was depleted.

Fish Soup Smile Nov 26, 2013

Newton Food Circus has a lot of BBQ options available, but what if you want something more on the light side?
My family had dinner at Newton Food Circus and as I was feeling slightly under the weather, I decided to have Fish porridge soup. This stall is on the outer ring that is facing the car park and the fish porridge is literally, fish slices with rice and served in soup.

It's definitely a healthier option compared to the other choices available within the vicinity. THe fish slices were rather thick and it felt fresh. There was even a huge fish hanging in front of the stall. The soup was hot and heartwarming for that rainy night.

Order the sets Smile Nov 26, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet | Japanese BBQ/Teppanyaki

Most of the customers were eating Hotpot when we entered, but we wanted to try the hot plate, and I'm glad we did! Ordering the set is quite worth it as it comes with vegetables that you can cook along with your meat.

The restaurant is sort of small and cozy but it looked like they could cater for groups of 8 or so. Most of the staff were Japanese and you could see that they were trying to speak English as much as they can--very friendly and trying to work across the language barrier. It was a tad difficult to catch the staff though as they are very busy getting orders and delivering food, so please be patient smile

There were quite a few sauces available on the table and they paired well with the meats. THe meat were fresh and not frozen and you can actually see them slice the meats with the meat slicer which is in the corner of the restaurant. There were also plenty of vegetables which included mushrooms, cabbage, golden mushrooms, and potato.

Wagyu Beef Set

Agedashi Tofu was quite standard. We used the sauce to cook with our vegetables.

Pork BBQ with Fresh Vegetables was $24

Window decor.

Hot plate that the food was cooked in was a creative device as it was shaped like a shell and the excess oil would drip out of the plate.

The total bill came out to be $100+. Not pictured here is the Tebasaki Fried Chicken Wings for $10 a plate-- the wings were marinated similar to the Nagoya-style. They were marinated well and arrived hot and juicy.

Recommended Dish(es):  fried chicken wings, wagyu beef

Spending per head: Approximately $35(Dinner)
