Cheap Teppanyaki Smile Dec 17, 2013

The set comes with rice and soup. You need to pay before you can sit down, but they do cook your order in front of you.
lamb

Usually, I thought the chef will cook the veggies first, but they cooked the mutton first. Though the chef will ask whether you want chili or not, without chili, the mutton came with black pepper. If you're not fond of pepper, you may want to mention this to the chef.
cabbage

They add your food on the aluminum foil that they set in front of you which helps keep your food warm. The veggies (nai bai) were very nice and juicy and the vegetables felt relatively fresh.
beansprouts

beansprouts

Last was the beansprouts and I loved how generous they are with their veggies. It was overall a very satisfying, hot, filling, and tasty meal.

Teppanyaki for less than $10 per head? Yes, please.

Juicy Rojak Smile Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Food Court

The stall is prepared to have a line as there are barricades set up to control the waiting line

The Rojak is not expensive at $3 and there's plenty of peanuts that they scatter on the rojak. The fruit pieces are very juicy and very satisfying to eat. The sauce is rather sweet but still tasty without being overpowering. Enough so that you will crave for it the next day.

Carrot Cake Smile Dec 17, 2013
Categories : American

I think I've just about tasted quite a variety of Carrot Cakes that are offered in Singapore. Every time I see a carrot cake, there's this craving for me to consume it.

The carrot cake was filling and there were carrot slices inside. The cream was thick and not too sweet, but a tad thick and overly creamy. The slice was a little thin for the price and there was a lack of walnuts (which would have made it more worth it)

The box that the cake was packed in.

On weekdays, the high tea buffet is 19.80++ per adult pax from 3-5pm. Do make a reservation beforehand as all the tables were filled up even though it was a weekday. They do charge for GST and service charge but the service in the restaurant is really good. They are very fast in filling up your hot tea and getting your orders. Despite them pushing their push cart and carrying trays of food around, their organization doesn't allow them to miss their customers and are able to deliver the food still piping hot to your table.

Though the dimsum is from 3-5pm, their last order started around 4:15pm. Do go there on time so you get to have the whole experience. There is also complimentary calamansi juice lol

There was way too many dimsum and food offerings on the day but I've included some of the better options and food to avoid.
paper wrapped chicken

paper wrapped chicken

Paper wrapped chicken. Didn't know this dish existed! And I'm glad there's no limit on how many you can eat. The chicken while a little hard to get to since you need to tear through the paper, it's flavor was similar to the pandan chicken that you can eat at thai restaurants.
black sesame

black sesame

Black Sesame was served hot, thick, and felt very authentic as if they did it in-house.
fried fish skin

fried fish skin

Fried Fish Skin with salted egg powder. very nice to snack on when you're on the brink of being so full
curry bao and eggtart

curry bao and eggtart

Their curry puff is a bao that is filled with curry chicken, carrots, and potatos, and then fried. Very refreshing way of presentation. The eggtart was soft, flaky, without being too oily and the size of the tart was just right.
fried tofu skin

fried tofu skin

fried tofu skin was perfecto.
cheong fun

cheong fun

char siu cheong fun was ok. not horrible nor enough to rave about. their char siu bao was very on the spot though.
phoenix claws

phoenix claws

Phoenix Claws were served hot and the claws were removed. The sauce, I believe was XO sauce and was just right, though a tad oily.
steamed pork ribs

steamed pork ribs

Steamed Pork Ribs with Black beans (we ordered two of this). Flavored and steamed very well.
fried shrimp and gyoza

fried shrimp and gyoza

Fried Gyoza and Prawns were crunchy and hot so it didn't feel very oily. Would have been perfect with wasabi mayo.
wasabi mayo, duck meat, and shark fin

wasabi mayo, duck meat, and shark fin

Every pax is entitled to only one serving of the above. The bowl is the shark fin soup which was very generous with its shark fin and the texture was very thick and just what I had in mind. The shell for the wasabi mayo 'abalone' was cold, though the abalone seems to be more like squid than abalone.
congee

congee

salted egg and minced pork congee was not that great. save your stomach space unless you really like congee
pork jelly

pork jelly

though this is a chef recommendation, this is probably the one dish I would never want to eat anymore should I go back.

The meal was about $50 for 2 after the GST and service charge which is quite worth it if it covers your lunch and dinner for that day--and you get to satisfy your dimsum craving!

Yummy Dinner Smile Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Coffeeshop | Steaks and Grills | BBQ

What we were given after we ordered and paid. There was a non-stop flow of customers when we were there.
teppanyaki sirlion bento

teppanyaki sirlion bento

Teppanyaki Sirloin Bento was $9.50: it includes karaage which is fried chicken, several pieces of sliced sirloin served in teriyaki sauce. The rice had the japanese condiments on top which was a nice touch and the bento was served with a bowl of miso on the side.
mixed grill

mixed grill

Mixed Grill was really worth it at $10.90. The portion was humongous! The salad was generous and similar to the bento's salad in dressing. The spaghetti was cooked aglio olio (might want to mention something if you can't take spice). Chicken Sausage, 2 pieces of meet and corn. This is not for the faint hearted but for the hungry!

That's where their chili sauce and condiments are. Save the environment by taking on what is necessary.

Total price of dinner was $22.40, though honestly we could have done without the mushroom soup. It was served hot, but tasted watery--most likely canned soup.

Would want to consider their baked rice or prawns if I was to return
