Yummy HK Desserts Smile Aug 25, 2013

Apparently, this is the place to go for Hong Kong-style desserts. It is in a nondescript area in Jubilee and it was rather quiet when we were there.

We order the durian dessert. The first spoonful was very fine and easy on the palate, as all desserts should be. However, this did not dilute the flavour. Bonus marks for the fresh durian pulp used. It was a full round scoop and generous enough.

Spending per head: Approximately $5(Tea)

Ya Kun Kaya Toast  Smile Aug 25, 2013

Don't know how the soft-boiled eggs can be cooked to such perfection but they are each time I order them. Looking at the tables of the people around me, I guess Ya Kun has perfected its art of egg-boiling.

I have my soft-boiled eggs with a cup of coffee C (Coffee with carnation milk to the uninitiated) and it makes for a good afternoon break. Thick and aromatic, that's how coffee should be.

Place for desserts Smile Aug 10, 2013

In the Orchard area and decide to stop by for an ice-cream. They have a lot of flavours and I choose the butterscotch with pecan as recommended by the staff.

I am impressed by the size of the single scoop, as it not only fills up the entire cup, but sticks out beyond the rim. It is light and teases the palate, making you go for more spoonfuls until you finish the entire cup. I also spot many others enjoying their desserts here.

Siam Kitchen OK Aug 10, 2013

There are a lot of food options at Nex and we chose Siam Kitchen as it was rather quiet on a weekday afternoon.
Sticky Mango Rice

Sticky Mango Rice

I order the Mango Sticky Race and it came with the rice and the mango served separately. I found this rather strange as I am used to seeing the mango served with the rice together. Nevertheless, the sticky race was quite nice with a good drizzle of coconut milk. However, it was marred by the very sour mango slices and I had to keep dipping the mango into the coconut milk to make it less sour.

Food For Thought  Smile Aug 10, 2013

Food for Thought gives off a casual, laid-back vibe. It seems to attract a wide range of people - couples, family, friends.
Creamy Pesto Chicken

Creamy Pesto Chicken

I had the Creamy Pesto Chicken and the presentation was simple yet elegant. As with a lot of restaurants these days, its portion was rather small. The linguine was cooked just right, neither hard nor soggy. It went well with the zucchini and the chicken. As it is very creamy, it will satisfy lovers of cream.
