Simple buffet OK May 22, 2012

My daughter and I went to Changi Airport terminal 3 today to take a look at the 3D exhibition. After that, we walked to Azur Restaurant at Crown plaza hotel to have buffet.

We did not make any reservation today. There were only a few diners when we were there.

Ice water was served immediately when we sat down. You will have to order through the waiter if you want coffee or tea, it is included in the buffet price.

No sashimi or prawns could be found there, but they do have a few fish dishes, baked salmon, steam fish, fish with orange sauce......

Their smoked salmon was not very salty, I ate that with a bread.

Their warm food taste ok only, my daughter commented that my cooking taste better.

Overall, it is just a very basic and simple buffet. I will not recommend to anyone their weekday lunch buffet.

We have to pay full rate of S$36++ as we do not have any UOB or Citibank credit card which the restaurant gives ten percent discount.

High end popcorn OK May 15, 2012

I walked past this stall selling popcorn and was attracted by the nice buttery smell of the popcorn. The lady at the counter offered a small cup of popcorn to me for tasting. They were too sweet for me but I think my children will love them.

There are a few flavours: cheese, caramel, caramel with macadamia nuts and caramel almond. I bought the smallest bag of caramel popcorn which cost $8 per bag.

My children finished the whole bag of popcorn within one hour after opening!

Nice buffet spread Smile May 14, 2012

I was a bit hesitant when my friend suggested going to this buffet restaurant as I had read bad reviews about them. As my friend had already bought some groupon vouchers and made reservation with the hotel restaurant, we just went ahead anyway.

We were greeted by a hospitable filipino lady, there was always smile on her face.

My friend had requested seats along the glass panel and we were lead to our requested seats by another lady restaurant staff.

The lady said:" Enjoy your meal." with a smile before she went back to the front counter.

Ice water was served the moment we sat down.

As usual, I would attack the salmon sashimi first. There were salmon belly which I love.
The salmon tasted fresh and sweet, yummy!

There were indian food, western food, teppanyaki, just to name a few cooking station.

For the Indian food, I had naan with mutton curry. The naan is warm with a bit crispy outer layer , I had this with the mutton curry. I would say the mutton curry was carefully prepared,so...tasty!

For the western food, I had a slice of roast beef. The roast beef was tender, my friend who is a food critic commented that they used tenderloin for the roast. There were mustard and other sauces to go with the beef too.

There were squid, fish slices and beansprouts fried with dou miao (豆苗)at the teppanyaki section, the beansprouts fried with dou miao were so popular that many diners were queuing up for them.

I particularly loved the salmon quiche, it was slighly bigger than the size of a one dollar coin. I enjoyed this so much that i forgot to take the picture!

My stomach was already full tank after eating all that, but I still find space to squeeze in somemore desserts with a cup of coffee. I liked the. passion fruit mousse served in a small glass, full of passion fruit scent and tasted sour-sweet. The cream caramel was good too.

The ice water was refilled without us asking and the plates were cleared away quickly.

As yesterday was mother's day, each of us was given an ang ku kueh as a gift before we left the restaurant.

Although this restaurant does not serve oysters or cold crab legs for weekday lunch, I find that the food was of high quality, well worth every cent that we paid for.

ham and cheese bread

ham and cheese bread

After I had lunch gathering with my friends, I went to BreadTalk at Somerset313 to buy some bread. I bought four ham and cheese bread, each cost S$1.20. The bread felt warm . I travelled all the way home from Somerset MRT to Pasir Ris MRT and to my surprise, the bread was still warm when I reached home. Although the bread was about the size of a palm, there were generous amount of cheese, a slice of tomato, a slice of ham and some parsley on it. I don't usually fancy eating bread, but this ham and cheese bread was really nice.

I have not patronized this restaurant for quite some time, so I bought their big intestine mee sua for dinner today.

I realized that they have upsized their food packaging, but the amount of the mee sua is still the same, so i guess is their kind of business strategy.

There were three big pieces of intestines and some mince garlic and parsley on the mee sua. The mee sua tasted the same as before, I still prefer "Ah Zhong Mian Xian" which I ate at Taipei.

There is a corner selling shaved ice and bubble tea at the back of the restaurant too.
