Best Penang Prawn Mee OK Apr 23, 2012

I always love penang prawn mee because it is slightly spicy and balance the prawn soup taste very well. I have heard very good reviews about the real penang prawn mee and finally tried this stall at RWS. During my first visit, the prawn mee was excellent. It was so good that I finished the whole bowl of food and actually had a craving for it the next day. I visited it 1 week later, on a sunday. However, on my second trip, the standard had dropped. The soup had a thick layer of chili oil which was not the case during my first visit and should not be the case. The taste of chili oil overwhelmed the prawn soup and it was so bad that I did not finished it. Hence, I think that there is no quality control and best to avoid on crowded evening. I first visited it on a saturday afternoon and second visit was on a sunday evening.

Looking for Breakfast at Albert Street? Albert Street food centre has lots of very nice delicious food and this Thong Kay Delight has always been at the top of my list. It is pretty hard to find yummy home-made yam cake, carrot cake and glutinous rice nowadays as the older generations of food owners retired. This stall is run by a couple in their 40s and their food is really food. I ordered yam cake, chee cheong fun and glutinous rice for $2.30. I added some sweet sauce which is not too sweet. The glutinious rice is the best of the lot as it is slightly salty and has a very nice frangrance. I would have gone for second serving if not for the long queue which had built up after my order. Excellent choice for breakfast!
