Lunch! Smile Jan 29, 2013   (Related Review)

I went back to prive cafe again because I was craving for their ambience once again, it was peaceful and relaxing with good food.

I ordered their Penne Alla Carbonara at $20, it tasted slightly creamier but was alright to me. There were pieces of chicken chunks, bacon and button mushrooms and they were just enough for every spoonful of penne. It was special because I had not have any penne carbonara before and it came in a big bowl which was quite elegant.

I also ordered their eggs royale at $16, the salmon was salty at some area, and not at other area, it was quite irritating actually. The hollandaise sauce was nicely done and the muffins were soft and fresh.

Their Luscious chocolate cake was at $8 per slice, and it was quite worth the price because all the different layers-brownie, chocolate sponge, cream and glazing were nicely done and tasted heavenly altogether. However, I got fooled by the name itself because I thought that luscious chocolate cake means that it was chocolate sponge and cream.

Their service was friendly and prompt although there were quite a number of people there for lunch, it would be good for you to make an appointment with them if you are going down in the weekends.

The place had shrunk in size but their service was still fast and swift.

I had their mee sua which was very yummy because the mian xian was nicely done, not too soft or hard. Also, the base was starchy enough that every mouthful kept you wanting for more.

Their braised meat rice was salty but with the plain white rice, it tasted just alright and i find that their vegetable portion could more generous.

Overall, it was a good supper meal and I would come back for more!

Their service was okay and it was rather cosy there, a great place for gathering.

I ordered their fried chicken rice set meal which didn't include chawanmushi unlike other set meals. The fried batter was wet because of the egg that was put on top, the chicken was juicy but lacks some taste.

I had their egg roll as side dish and IT WAS EXTREMELY SWEET! I didnt even bother to try to enjoy this dish after the first cube was in my mouth, it was just terrible and torturing.

I didnt manage to take down the prices and names as I was busy talking. I find that their tables were quite small and it was a quite a squeeze for the four of us but the service were not bad.

I ordered their salmon don and it tasted really heavenly, it was by far the nicest salmon don i ever eaten. The salmon were fresh and the portion was generous, the rice tasted extremely yummy that you could eat it on its own. Sesame oil and some other sauce was added to the rice that made it tasted so heavenly.

This was the pork rice set that we ordered and I find that it was just average. The pork slices were little and had a lot of fats which i do not really like. The fried food was so-so, and their chawanmushi was okay.

Overall, it was a satisfying meal because of the salmon don which really saved the day! bowl

Birthday gathering Smile Jan 13, 2013

PORN's service was okay, because I find that they should smile more, haha! The design was creative and cosy, a good place for gathering as well.

I ordered their large Tom yam talay at $12.90, it didnt come with rice, which I feel a bit short-changed. However, their soup base was really awesome. It tasted sour with a very slight spicy taste, and the seafood tasted quite fresh as well.

Their green curry was good too, it does not have that sick coconut taste and is good with rice! mad There were quite a number of chicken pieces in it and were cooked just right.

I also ordered their Kapow Moo at $8.50, it was actually stir-fried minced pork with basil leaves. It tasted salty and there wasn't any basil taste.

How can thai food be complete without phad thai?! It was priced at $10.90 and tasted really good, I finished all up without pausing to squeeze the lime. It was soft and springy and i wished the portion was bigger!

Their deep-fried tofu with thai sauce was awesome as well, at $6.50 although i find it quite expensive considering it is just tofu but it is crispy on the outside and really soft on the inside. The peanut pieces add crunchiness to the whole soft taste and their sauce was heavenly too.

I enjoyed dining at PORN's and even though we were quite troublesome due to our birthday celebration down there, their service crews remain friendly. KUDOS!
