I'm not sure why people are saying it is juicy and tender, it is not. The youtiao is just so so, the soup is just peppery, the meat is really tough and old. My child had to spit out because it couldn't be chewed and swallowed.
I can recommend a few places that are a lot less expensive and where the meat is tender, which what bat kut teh is all about. Try the buk kut teh at the food center in Bukit Merah Central. the one next to the NTUC. There is only one buk kut teh stall there. The soup is not peppery and has herbs. It's also a lot cheaper at $4 compared to $6 at Ya Hua place.
