very nice fried oyster omelette  Smile Apr 20, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Food Court | Noodles

I'm not a big fan of food republic but this particular fried oyster omelette had me visited twice. I wouldn't say they have the freshest oyster, but the egg was fried till the utmost crispiness. It is not the traditional kind of oyster omelette you would find in the hawkers, but the crusty egg is something you have to try if you're craving for something crispy.

On the side note, sometimes the omelette could be a little too salty. I would suggest you tell the uncle to fry it with lesser salt, much healthier that way too.

It's hard to find a place during lunch hours, I would suggest that you visit at a non peak hour. Worth trying!

Delicious grilled prawns Smile Apr 20, 2013

Definitely a must try when you visit Dian Xiao Er. It is crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. The prawns are just the right size, very fleshly. The shell is so crispy I could just finish the entire prawn. The dish is not very spicy, my 10 year old niece could eat it.

One major problem is that the place was freaking warm even with the air-condition working fine. I had no problems with the service. Definitely going back for more prawns!

Customize your own burger OK Apr 20, 2013

First visit to Fat boys for dinner. What's unique about this place is that you can get to customize your own burger. With the choice of the bun and the patty. The beef patty was mediocre as I prefer my patty to be more juicy and the patty there was kinda dry. I find the bun to be a little too hard. The sides were fine.

The meal was definitely filling and not too pricy. I recommend it to people who wants to hang out, a good place to chill. The service is great, nothing to complaint. Definitely not the best burger, but definitely for someone who wants something new.

Chili crab thick toast Smile Apr 20, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

Before this flavour arrived, my favourite was their peanut butter thick toast. But over the years, I got sick of it, and then they revealed their new flavour- chili crab!

Although some may find this pricey, I think it is a decent price to pay for a quick fix of chili crab craving. Note also that I am not a seafood person, so I only go for the spicy crab sauce. The toast is served with slivers of crab (I assume its real crab), but the chili crab sauce on top of the toast is perfect for breakfast or teabreak.

Also, I'm not sure if they actually toast the bread with the leaf on top of it, but it certainly had a tinge of flavour to it. Great snack, and even yummier breakfast!

Decent escargots OK Apr 20, 2013

Walked past this place many times, but failed to pay any attention to it until the day we exhausted all our options at the basement of Plaza Singapura. So we decided to pop by Saybons to try out their escargots, which were advertised as having various flavours to it.

Not sure what to really expect because I love the classic butter-garlic flavour, which masks the taste perfectly.

It was pretty decent, but the downside was the oil, which was still sputtering when they served it. It cannot be compared to the top-grade escargots because obviously, you get what you pay. But it still makes a pretty decent snack, and its rare to be able to find escargots that easily around Singapore too.
