Black, Oily, Tasty OK Jul 05, 2010

Categories : Food Court

I always ta-pao the carrot cake here for supper. My gf loves it too. Although it's a tad oily, this is a comfort food at it's best served piping hot with the light garnishing of spring onions or chye-poh. I think the carrot cake here has a good balance of steamed minced radish and flour. chopstick Some carrot cake elsewhere taste more like flour cakes. Bluek. Anyway if you are in Chua Chu Kang and is looking for a plate of snack to share with a friend, I would recommend a plate of black oily carrot cake. Find a way to work off the calories later. tongue

Smooth steamed chicken rice OK Jul 03, 2010

This restaurant used to be located at Tanglin halt area before moving to Clementi. Great because it is now nearer to the west! Hehe Went there for lunch with my gf and she was raving about the Fried Ngor Hiang there. I have to agree with her. It's crispy and had a good bite/flavour. It went really well with mayonnaise. Anyway the smooth steamed chicken was ok though the rice was a tad oily.

Looking for Big and Fatty fish balls?
This is the place.
They are famous for their huge and fresh fish balls.
They are springy after every bite and will not get sick of them.
The owner is also very nice especially when we have to delay payment after realizing we do not have cash. She actually let us finish our meals before we return from ATM to pay for the meal.
They have the best fishballs i have ever tasted.

Great Jap Food Smile Nov 21, 2010

Was there for lunch and tried the Unagi Rice.
It is a very unique "Japanese Claypot rice"
They will cook only when ordered and it takes at least 20 minutes to be ready. Hence it is definitely not for the hungry customers. But the rice is very well done, with just enough water to gives it a nice texture.

The Hokke FIsh has a very fishy smell. Luckily, it has a lemon to ward off the fish smell. Other than that, it is actually a very tasty big fish. Well grilled, you can taste the freshness without the fishy smell. tongue

The best dessert place in Singapore.
One of the most popular is their Mango Sago. It comes with Pomelo and/or ice cream.
I usually goes with Mango Sago with Pomelo.

The mango topping is ample and the taste is really rich. You can really taste the fresh, sweet mango used. The pomelo gives a little tinge of bitter in the taste of mango sweetness.
You should also try without coconut milk as this will brings out the sweetness of the mango even more.

I also tried their special: Durian Yam Sago. It comes in a huge bowl, you can really see the durain paste on top of the yam. The durian is cold and fresh while the yam, again, brings donw the rich taste. A beautiful combination.
I hope it will make it to the menu permanently.
