Hotpot on a conveyor belt! Smile Jul 03, 2010

I had the signature mushroom soup. It was a versatile soup base and went well with all the fresh ingredients that I grabbed from the conveyor belt. However, my favourite ingredients which was the Sliced Wagyu Beef and Salmon Belly had to be ordered from the Premium Items section.

Unlike the conventional hotpot elsewhere where everyone shares one large pot, everyone gets an individually controllable stove at Kichi Kichi. For greedy eaters like me, I also liked that Kichi Kichi offers the all-you-can-eat concept. I think the layout of the restaurant is pretty cool too. Food was decent. Service was good. Efficient staff cleared the empty plates regularly and were prompt to refill the soup.

Oh they actually have eight sauces to suit all tastes but my favourite was theChilli Padi with Vinegar, Kichi Kichi Sesame Sauce and Chilli Chin Chalok. Goes well with the beef and seafood.

Anyway my gf was having fun with the ‘Secret Recipes’ plates cruising the conveyor belt and I became her guinea pig as usual. Her creations turned ok. Thank goodness. Overall we had a fun dining experience at Kichi Kichi.

You like peppery Bak Kut Teh? You'll probably enjoy dining here. The Bak Kut Teh broth was thickly flavoured by pepper. I liked it. Also liked that the staff kept refilling the soup without even being asked to. Good service. smile

Though I think the ribs are decent, my girlfriend who is a picky eater said that the meat was kinda tough. it didn't came off in a bite. Nonetheless, we both agreed that the pork ribs weren't too lean and it was a value-for-money meal. Have fun soaking the youtiao into the piquant soup of spices or peppers.

Tried their selection of meat and nothing special.
Ordered both white and roast chicken.
Their rice is definitely not as fragrant as Boon Tong Kee.
Their chicken is a little hard and dry. Not to try unless you have no other choice.

Was there for lunch one day and tried their Gong Bao Chicken Set.
It serves in a hot pot with fair amount of chicken. However, I find the sauce to be a little salty and thick. Got to go with white rice. The chicken is a little overcook as it is dry and hard.

Overall, average with nothing surprising.

An ice-cream place is still an ice-cream place. Nothing more.

Swensen is excellent in their ice-cream but average on the other foods.

The Yoghurt is normal. Nice and re-freshing but forgettable.

The clam chowder is better especially when it is serve is a bun. The clam chowder is tasy with cut carrots inside. But i dislike the shoggy bun. sad
