- The Shop
LeBan in Chinese literally means "Happy Boss", which is at the core of what the cafe wants to achieve - dines to leave the cafe feeling like happy bosses!

They offer a wide range of Hongkong inspired food. The youthful ambience has a contemporary colour interior with walls painted in purple and white, red chairs and black tables and lights in rainbow colors plastic balls.

- The Food
Crispy Butter Bun with Condensed Milk @ $4.00

LeBan used toasted buns (Man Tuo 馒头) instead of the usual thick french toast slathered in butter and sweetened milk. It tasted good with the gooey centre when its warm. Don't leave it to cool, unless you prefer a rough bun.

Savoury French Toast Bites with Ice Cream @ $4.90

Oh, drool at the sweet and hearty toast bites! The deep fried breaded cubes was light and airy. I think it was drizzle with some honey/maple syrup and served with a scoop of new zealand natural ice cream (choice of Choc Fudge Brownie, Cookies & Cream, Vanilla Classic, Green Tea, Boysenberry Dream, Mango Sorbet, Strawberry Surprise). Mmmm, so simple and lovely.

Seafood Baked Rice in Cream Sauce @ $9.80
A succulent mix of seafood in cream sauce baked with rice and cheese was lacking in flavours. I felt the seafood and rice did not adsorbs the cream sauce flavours, maybe this was because the cream sauce was too little.

The baked rice is available in tomato and creamy base.

Chili Cheese Fries @ $6.50
Not your ordinary cheese fries. Leban's chilli cheese fries is topped with Chef's special chili, oven baked with cheese.

Honestly I am overdosed with all the creamy and salted egg dishes at Irivin's therefore I must admit that I do not enjoy this cheesy fries as much. sad

Potato with Corned Beef Hash & Egg @ $5.50

Cube potatos fried with corned beef & egg was a tad salty.

Sizzling Crispy Noodles with Jumbo Prawns @ $8.50

Crispy noodles with prawns served on hot plate was less flavorsome. Personally, I felt the tomato was too overpowering for me. Having said that, everyone has their own prerogative and preference, its definitely not awful as Melissa finished the whole serving by herself!

The Sun Fried Ice Cream @ $4.00

Fried breaded ice cream topped with chocolate rice. Hot on the outside, cold on the inside. An awesome combination.

With a variety of ice cream flavours to choose from - Vanilla, Cookies & Cream, Green Tea, Choc Fudge Brownie.

Affagato @ $4.80

The vanilla ice cream drowned in freshly brew espresso was simply divine! The sweetness of the coffee was just right and paired so well with the ice cream. This is a MUST TRY!

- My Opinion
LeBan is a great place for snack and dessert. Great place for night owl as it closed at 2am.

LeBan's is giving out 10% discount to our blog readers from now till 31 July 2012! Simply quote "Funky Food" before making payment and you will be entitle to the discount.

- The Shop

Formerly known as Irvin's Seafood Cze Char was located along the stretch of shophouses at River Valley Road was relocated to No. 4, Jalan Leban, Upper Thomson Road on 1st December 2011.

Buffet is also serve at the restaurant.

Lunch (11.00am - 3.00pm) @ $10.90+ and dinner (5.30pm - 11.00pm) @ $16.80+ for weekdays.
Lunch (11.00am - 3.00pm) @ $12.90+ and dinner (5.30pm - 11.00pm) @ $19.70+ for weekends and public holidays. To make it more exciting, a different menu will be serve everyday! You can check out their website for the weekly menu updates.

Dinner buffet has an addition of a DIY steamboat section where customers get to choose between tom yum & plain soup.

- The Food
Salted Egg Yam Chips @ $9.80

The crispy yam was nicely contrasted with the rich salted egg yolk sauce. With a tad of chilli padi and curry leaves, this appetizer was savory and addictive.

Salted Egg Crab @ $23.90 (S), $33.90 (M), $48 (per 1kg)
(Irvin's specialty with Chef's Yap special recipe)

The stir fried crab in generous creamy salted egg concoction is a nightmare for any dietician. The irresistible sauce will make you forget about the high cholesterol! Be warn that the creamy fragrance will linger on your taste buds for a long time that other dishes may taste like salted egg yolk too! It will be prefect if they had use Sri Lanak crab, its tender and succulent meat will definitely be a heavenly match with the sauce.

If you loves the salted egg sauce (who don't?), it can be purchase at $12 per box that is freshly made upon ordering.

Red Tilapia with Special Sauce @ $32

The reddish sauce is made of bean paste with chilli. Don't be fret by the colour, it is not spicy as it look. Taste like the sweet thai chili, the sauce was flavorful and aromatic. Unfortunately this delicacy of Chef Yap's creation is not on the menu, BUT it can be cooked upon customer request.

Claypot Pumpkin Prawns @ $13.80 (S), $22.80 (L)

The pumpkin sauce taste almost like salted egg! No joke! The sauce was thick, creamy and rich, can't really taste the pumpkin thou. I think the prawn was overcooked as it was a little tough. If you don't want to dirty your hands, deshell prawns are available at $18.80 (s) $28.80(L) (different prawns are used for deshell).

Damn Good Pork @ $12.80 (S) $18.80 (L)

Its creamy and buttery sauce was so sinful and mouth-watering! The tender and juicy pork ribs with the aroma of the curry leaves make the dish fragrant and savouring. We heard this was Irvin (the boss) favourite dish!

Hot Plate Tofu with Special Minced Pork @ $12.80
Blocks of tofu stir-fried in a sweet and spicy thick sauce studded with minced pork was decent. Non-spicy hot plate tufu with chicken is available upon request.

Salted French Beans
Initially we felt the veggie was a little bland but we begin to appreciate it after all the rich and creamy sauce dishes. Maybe more chili padi & dried scrimp will make it a little savor.

- My Opinion
I am freak out by the number of cholesterol I have intake with all their specialty of salted egg sauce and butter cream dishes! But I must admit it was an enjoyable dinner.

Irvin's will be giving out 10% discount to our blog readers from now till 31 July 2012! Simply quote "Singapore's Most Handsome Restaurant" before making payment and you will be entitle to the discount.

The usual salmon sashimi and assorted seafood, Cooked salmon, Baked giant seabass, Giant Mortabella Sausage, Grilled sausage... Need more carbs to fulfilled your stomach? Try the Paella.

Carnivores lovers will love the roasted beef and lamb.

One of the highlight was the Cheese Risotto that will be cooked in a 38kg of paramessan wheel!

The vivid cheese risotto was one impressive dish and if you are adventurous enough, try the Lasak Risotto which has nice flavours of spice and a little spicy.

Both the cheese and lasak risotto definitely my favorite of the night!

The same station will prepare your lasak, mee soto and pasta.

There was also a wide variety of the Asian station which include chicken curry, masala eggplant, dhall, roti prata, mee tai bak, fried rice, assorted tim sum, kailan, roasted duck, steam fish, fish with mango salsa, roasted potato, etc.

We also had the Poached Code Fillet @ $34 from the a la carte menu

Poached in spicy coconut and prawn broth, served with sauteed vegetables and chicken rice. It doesn't taste like lasak but the creamy rich sauce has nice fragrant of spice.

You will be spoil with the wide variety of Mini cakes, bread, assorted jelly and mousse in mini cups, creme brulee...

- My Opinion
Don't be afraid to try the Durian Pengat with Gula Melaka, its creamy light texture with a little sweetness will make you crave for more.

You must also try the chocolate cup, lemon custard in chocolate cup married perfectly. The Mille-Feuille is not be missed too, a delicious puff pastry layered chocolate cream.

We love buffet, don't we? The tasteful spreads and modem ambience come together like a charm. Come indulgent yourself at The Square now!

Healthy Burger OK Jul 20, 2012
Categories : Fast Food | Vegetarian | Burgers and Sandwiches

- The Shop

Desire for a healthier lifestyle but love fast food? Now you can enjoy fast food that is NOT junk food. Burger patty made from pure vegetables that contain NO dairy or eggs, their burgers are healthy, nutritious and wholesomely good for the whole family.

You can order individual burger or set meal that serves with seaweed fries and drink.

- The Food
Minestrone Soup @ $3.80

We felt the soup was not appetising, too bland and diluted.

Old School Hotdog @ $3.80

Hubby likes the tofu-dog with soft wholemeal bun. He thinks its tasty and looks real, even commented "they give real hotdogs a run for their money!".

Crispy Potato & Spinach Pops @ $3.80

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. This little fluffy pops was delightful and has strong flavour of potato.

Smokey BBQ @ $6.85

Hubby felt the organic rye bread was springy but smokey bbq sauce was too bland and little, can't really tell the patty was made of minced mushrooms too.

Char-Grilled Satay Set @ $10.85

I ordered the set meal that serves with seaweed fries and a choice of drink.

The salting was done to the minimum for the seaweeed fries, so it’s relatively more bland in flavour.

Char-Grilled Satay

Burgers was infused with exotic spices and herbs, rich satay sauce drizzled over the tender Vegan patty. Its nutty with a mild spicy kick, nice!

- My Opinion
We were intrigued by the rave reviews and decided to give it a try on last Saturday, 16 June 2012. It was indeed interesting and definitely worth giving it a try but do note that they cost a bit more than our usual fast food (1 vegan burger = 1 set meal of usual fast food).

We don't mind having it once a while but still prefer our usual fast food like MacDonalds, Mos Burger and Burger King etc *sheesh* .

- The Shop
The restaurant serves Madam Tan's Nasi Lemak and bistro classics with bold Singaporean hawker flavours. She is consistently creating new local dishes with a modern twist and is inspire to keep the local hawker flavours going.

There are beers, wines and signature desserts too.

- The Food
Nasi Lemak Crispy Chicken Sets @ $7.90

To be honest, I was a little disappointed when the dish arrive. I don't fancy fried chunky chicken as they are tough in most places and I assumed this will be no different. BUT I was wrong! The crispness of the skin has a unique blend of spices and yet the meat is VERY tender.

The coleslaw has a refreshing mix of crunchy shredded cabbage & carrots in a tangey Asian-inspired dressing of lime juice.

If you are a chilli lover, the sambal belachan is addictive! It arouse my appetite even I just had 3 cakes & 1 tart for dessert at FLOR with Maureen of Miss Tiam Chiak! Shiok ah! Fear not if you can't take spicy, the sambal tumis is milder.

Nasi Lemak Curry Chicken Sets @ $8.90

The curry chicken is just as tender. But I felt the curry taste is not strong enough as I am a super CHILLI lover. However, I do think the taste is just right for most Singaporean smile

The rice has a different texture from the common Nasi Lemark, unique flavour and the grains are beautifully separated. Surprisingly it's Jasmine long grain and not basmati. Madam Tan sure know how to cook.

Homemade Chin Chow @ $2.50
The chin chow is homemade with honey added. It's pretty good but too sweet for me.

- My Opinion
If you're famished and love Nasi Lemak, you MUST come to this place! I can't wait to go back to try Madam Tan's new creation.

Oh, did I mention that they don't charge GST & Svs Charge too?
