love the dumplings at din tai fung! so fresh and delicate and made with such care. all the folds and the fillings are carefully made and assembled. the shrimp dumpling is unique and great. love the soup inside the dumpling with bursts out. you have to fit the whole dumping in your mouth to get the real taste of the entire dumpling. the shrimp was fresh. the filling was just right. about $15

the choux pastry is nice and big. it is browned nicely and tasted sweet instead of the usual bland type. the filling has real vanilla seeds in the custard. the custard is generally smooth and creamy. best eaten warm as the custard will be softer. service is friendly and polite. there is not a lot to choose from and never seems to have a queue. about $3. very moreish. love the freshness and slight crunchiness.

deep fried foods galore here! very fragrant. service is rather gruff. everything looks pretty freshly cooked as there always seems to be a queue. the sesame seed ball was great. the glutinous pastry was thick enough and the filling was good. the sesame seeds were fresh and the oil used was also fresh. overall, it is slightly better than old chang kee. but it is very greasy - greasier than old chang kee. cost about $2

if you get there late, there won't be much choices to choose from. as i didn't like the options that were left, i chose the standard red bean bun. the pastry here is pretty dry and strangely very dark brown. the sesame seeds on top brought out the flavour of the pastry. the bean pastry inside is very minimal. there is a huge air pocket inside. overall, it is not satisfying. cost $1 when on special

nice yellow curry. comes with bread or rice. service can be very slow. we also had a fried egg but it came out looking so bad, we did not take a photo of it. the egg tasted pretty bad too. but the curry was very good. second to killiney's curry! nice balance of heat. it's actually a very small bowl, so that was unsatisfying. took a very long time to serve the food. water tasted very much chlorinated. cost about $10
