This stall was operated by an elderly couple. They have been there for quite a number of years as I used to stay at Clementi 6 years ago. They located just next to the ever popular satay stall. We reached there right before the dinner crowd. I ordered lamb chop with rice with onion sauce. They serve 2 types of sauces, either black pepper or onion. Actually, I don’t prefer sauce over the food or it could be better if it served at the side separately. Anyway, it is hawker centre, I shouldn’t ask for more. As usual they pour the onion sauce over the lamb chop, taste was quite bland, just hint of onion. Lamb chop was thinly sliced and well marinated but it has too much meat tenderiser on it. It broke down the original meat texture, it became too soft to my like. I would say rice won over the chop, it was fluffy and a hint of chicken rice taste. At around 7+pm, there was a queue at their stall. It seems they quite popular too. Date of Visit: Nov 10, 2011 Other Ratings:Taste 2 | Environment 2 | Service 2 | Clean 2 | Price 2Recommend 0 |
Due to SQ flight delayed from Hong Kong for almost 2 hours, consequently my dinner was also delayed at around 9+pm at T3. Though I didn’t have much food on flight, I was still full at that time. Browse the foodcourt, I chose fish soup for a light dinner. My friend came to pick me up, he ordered tom yam noodle at the same stall. First taste the clear soup, it was light and bland, very mild msg though. I don’t like most of the fish soup stalls put milk into soup, it is a way of save time in boiling soup based and disguise like it has long boiled. Fish slices were fine, marinated to the right taste and texture. Overall it was OK. Whereas, my friend’s tom yam noodle was OK, I got to taste a spoonful of the soup, it could tell it was just OK! Nothing much to expect from it, to term with it is foodcourt standard. Finally my busy work weeks was over, I managed to take few days leave to exhale. I chose to go Taiwan for 5 days on my own this time. Though I have been Taipei twice already, I still wanted to see more Taiwan, my destinations this time were Taichung, Kaohsiung and Taipei. Due to my flights to and fro were at Taoyuan airport, therefore I have to stopover at Taipei. Anyway, my flight was quite early, as usual I rushed to airport with empty stomach. After all check-in procedure done, I could have a cup of coffee and toast for my breakfast. I chose Killiney most of the time because their reasonable prices matched with good taste. I have kaya toast and coffee si with less sugar. Coffee was smooth and not so sweet, I could request for stronger coffee if I wanted, I didn’t do so this time as I just wanted something light. Kaya toast was more or less the same, I requested not to put butter, they did so. I was happy with their breakfast all the times. My friend and I have tried quite a few stalls at Fortune Centre as we come here every Monday whenever we have class. We wanted to try something new this time, we saw this Xing Hua stall, they serve ready cooked meals as well as cook when order, all vegetarian. I ordered Xing Hua fried mee sua and my friend’s fried noodle. $3+ is considered value meal for nowadays and they cook it whenever there is order. Portion wise, it is considered small. It came with few fried dough and some shredded vegetable, taste wise was bland, I hardly could taste anything, the only selling point was piping hot when served. According to my friend, her noodle taste bland too but portion wise, it was slightly more than my mee sua, price wise also slightly more. While we were having our meals, there were more dinners coming, it seemed this was a popular place for Xing Hua vegetarian food. I went to visit a friend of mine who is staying at Toa Payoh. We have a long chat and homemade bread section in the afternoon. When time for dinner, we went to Toa Payoh central, they brought me to Gourmet Paradise. I remembered it used to be very quiet at this place as it was at basement, it didn’t attract crowd. I was surprised that evening as it filled up with dinners at dinner time. As usual food court, there are quite a number of stalls to choose from, I like Chinese soup so I chose Soup Empire. My dinner was pig tail soup plus a plate of vegetable and rice. This stall gave generous veggie as compare to their another stall at Raffles shopping centre. Pig tail soup was the same, milky in colour, taste right without msg. This was another satisfying meal with Soup Empire.
