Soy Sauce Chicken Smile May 03, 2013

This stall serves mainly soy sauce chicken in the Chinatown complex, they have perpetually long queue during meal time.

We ordered half a chicken to share. It was really good as meat was marinated to the right taste, it was succulent, tender and smooth. I am not a gravy person but I don’t mind to put their soy sauce with the rice, you could taste that their soy sauce isn’t only soy sauce, it has enhanced flavour.

It is an above standard soy sauce chicken dish, sure we will come back if we want to have it.

Bak Kut Teh OK May 03, 2013
Categories : Malaysian | Food Court | Bak Kut Teh

This foodcourt resemble old street of Malaysia and claim that they serve authentic Malaysia street food. Furthermore, it was featured in a magazine. Why not give it a try.

Though the foodcourt isn’t difficult to locate but we have to go to Sentosa, probably it puts off patrons to make the trip down specially. Therefore, it is quite quiet when we reach there. Frankly the atmosphere isn’t feel so right, dim light and dark tables setting. Anyway, we were already there, we browsed all the stalls and some stalls were not opening. I like Malaysia bak kut teh, so we thought it would be good and ordered one bowl.

It is self-service, once food is serve, we have disappointment as soup isn’t hot enough, fried dough isn’t fresh(old) we don’t mind it isn’t crispy. Soup is in deep colour and not much flavour, I wonder what make the deep tone in the soup, pork ribs were so so. It isn’t a bowl of standard bak kut teh in my opinion.

We won’t come back definitely.

Penang char kway teow Smile May 03, 2013

Categories : Malaysian | Food Court

Probably this was the best dish of the night, char kway teow.

Generous ingredients with thin hor fun, it wasn’t too oily and with fragrance of wok frame. Portion wise was generous.

This was the most busiest stall as stall owner kept frying hor fun and quite a number of patrons place their orders. Frankly no matter how good this char kway teow is, who will be coming down for a humble dish of hor fun. I would think the management should think of something to attract crowds to patron, otherwise, sooner or later, this place will be disappear.

Penang Pork noodle with soup Smile May 03, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook

This was our second dish in the Resort world foodcourt. We didn’t order their signature dish prawn mee, instead we ordered Hokkien pork mee.

It was an ordinary bowl of noodle with soup, nothing to surprise with. It isn’t too bed though. It just filled you up.

Then again, it isn’t a popular foodcourt, it can’t bring up the atmosphere lively. Therefore food seems lack of interest! Maybe coming here during weekends with more patrons, it will be better.

Hongkong style food Smile May 03, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant

It was recommended by my Hongkong friends who frequently patronised and claimed that they served authentic Hongkong style dishes.

Location is convenient whether we have our meal before the shopping spree or interval for tea break in the afternoon, even after shopping to have dinner.

First we need to place our orders at the cashier, then look for our seating. Food will be served to our table. Service staff is polite and friendly. Seating is spacious and relaxing. From time to time, they may change their menu, so that patrons are not limited to certain type of food.

This time we ordered stir fry roasted pork hor fun($10.00) and Fujian fried rice($9.50), both were set meal, came with a drink, we chose lemon tea .

Dishes have met our expectation, hence hor fun wasn’t too oily and has fragrance from wok flame and fried rice was fine. Frankly I don’t like gravy with rice but it is ordered by my friend, taste wise is ok to me.

This was our lunch then we proceeded to have our shopping around Sommerset.
