Pancakes for lunch!  Smile Dec 30, 2012
Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes

Finally visited Strictly Pancakes after hearing much ambiguous reviews about this place.
We were seated at second level on a sofa seat. Sofa seat as comfy as they sound, they are not comfortable at all due to height difference of sofa and the table. I had to bend very low to ensure food doesn't drop on myself and this position is very tiring and makes eating tough. Don't take sofa seat if possible.

We ordered 2 pancakes, 1 sweet and 1 savoury to share among 3 of us because my friend strongly advised us not to order 1 each because it will be very very filling. She is right, I felt full despite sharing.

Snuggle Up - Sausage rolled within pancake with caramelized onions. I really love sausage, it was delicious! It was not greasy and too salty. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious too. However, I feel that the sausage and pancakes don't really complement well together, I would rather eat them alone.

What-a-Stack: Pancakes with nutella and peanut butter spread between with custard drizzled on top with vanilla ice-cream and kinder bueno on the side. It was very good. I like the combination. What goes wrong with nutella? smile On a side note, there were candles because my friends were celebration my birthday ^^ The custard makes the whole dish perfect because it was sweet and milk, without it, the pancakes seemed dry and difficult to swallow. The vanilla ice-cream wasn't very nice and I didn't like it.

Overall, I think Strictly Pancakes served very nice warm and fluffy pancakes. I will visit them again to try other pancakes.

Vegetarian Pizza  OK Dec 30, 2012

Tried Domino's pizza for the first time. It was a treat from my CCA.
I had the vegetarian pizza and I felt that it wasn't very good. There wasn't enough cheese to give me the "cheese pulling" action. I thought cheese it a very important component of pizza, without it, the whole pizza is ruined. The crust of the pizza wasn't too good either.
Given a choice, I wouldn't order Domino's Pizza of my own accord.

Brunch for lunch @ Wild Honey  Smile Dec 30, 2012

Categories : American | Café | Burgers and Sandwiches | Brunch

We had our Christmas lunch at Wild Honey because my friends and I always wanted to have brunch food and speaking of brunch food Wild Honey has got to be one of places famous for their all-day-breakfast.
When we reached there we had to wait for a while for we didn't make reservations. I thought Wild Honey didn't accept reservations and it seems that this policy only applies to the one at Mandarin Gallery. So remember to make reservations here if you don't like to be kept waiting.

I ordered a french toast with banana, mascarpone cheese and salted caramel. It was really good! The crust of the bread was coated with nuts and when I bit into it, it was sweet and crunchy. Although I'm really not a fan of caramel, this dish really tasted better with caramel. Without caramel, the dish seems to be lacking something. I love this french toast even though it cost me $22.

My friends had Basque which is brioche, prosciutto and scrambled eggs with red peppers and English which consisted of brioche, sausage, tomato, potatoes and scrambled egg. Both dishes were delicious as well. I tasted some components of English and I like it too.

Christmas Eve lunch!  Smile Dec 24, 2012

Categories : Spanish | Italian | High Tea

I'd been there once with my mum and the food was pleasant. Hence, we decided to head there for our lunch again.
We went there during the period where they offer lunch set meal from 1100-1400.
The lunch set meal includes soup of the day, the main course and choice of tea with prices starting from 12.90 bucks.

I tried a new item on the menu which was green tea spaghetti with shrimp. Yes, it is green tea flavoured spaghetti. I'm a lover of green tea and decided to gave it a try.
The soup of the day was pumpkin soup. I love pumpkin soup but the pumpkin was disappointing. I couldn't taste the richness and sweetness of pumpkin.
When the dish arrived, I was quite skeptical about it. The green coloured spaghetti looked interesting and it was served with fried mushroom, beef patty and a salad which consist of ham, pineapple and cucumber on the side.

My first bite literally blew my mind away. I can really taste the green tea!!! lol And it didn't taste weird at all. Like as though the dish was designed this way, nothing is wrong with it.
Even though I'm really not a fan of cream based spaghetti, this is really different. I love this dish. Not to mention that the sides were delicious as well. This set meal cost $15.90
I'm really very pleased with this dish because green tea normally points toward sweets, but this time round, I learnt that green tea fits perfectly well with savoury too. ^^

Dinner @ ichiban boshi  Smile Dec 16, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

This was my first time at Ichiban Boshi, my parents and I were looking for a place and decided to try out here.
They have an extensive menu and almost everything looks delicious.
But I was craving for soupy noodles due to the weather so I decided to try the warm soba with mushrooms($13.90).
My mum ordered the chicken katsu curry don($12.30) while my dad ordered a kurobuta nabe set($24.90)
We ordered additional sides which were shisamo($6) and a sushi which was made of egg crepe topped with potato salad($2.40).

Warm soba: I guess soba should be best eaten cold because it feels weird to slurp warm soba. However, the soup was light on the palate and not greasy at all and it wasn't salty either. So actually it was quite bland but the vegetables added flavour to the soba.

The shisamo and potato salad sushi were great! I like the crispness of the shisamo and I was literally wowed by the potato salad sushi because it goes very well with the cheese and the egg crepe and rice.

The curry rice was average though, my mum commented that the rice wasn't too good.
As for kurobuta nabe set meal, I only tried the shabu shabu beef and it tasted great! The beef was tender and easy to masticate. Thumbs up!

The total bill came up to $71.90. Albeit expensive I guess it was worth the money smile
