BROWNIE.  Cry Jun 27, 2012

Categories : American

I was craving for brownies and the first place that came to my mind was The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Although I didn't have a very good impression of the cakes and drinks in coffee bean but I thought I should give it a try in case the cake will blow my mind away. I will never know unless I try.

I went to coffee bean after school to grab my brownie and of course do some work. With the exams around the corner, coffee bean was slightly crowded with JC students and was a little noisy, something I didn't expect until I saw the crowd shocked

Honestly, the cakes in the cake bar all looked very deliciously and tempting. I was a little shaken and contemplated if I should try other cakes. But I stuck to my plan and decided to satisfy my craving and ordered Boston Nut Brownie at $5.50

The first mouthful of the Brownie was awesome because of the layer of chocolate ganache atop the brownie. However, as I continued, the level of disappointment began to increase. My ideal brownie should be dense and has a thick cocoa flavour. But the brownie from coffee bean was like a normal chocolate cake with a layer of ganache. I began to suspect I was eating a chocolate cake instead of brownie.
DISAPPOINTMENT sad

Lesson learnt: Looks can be deceiving sad

I'm a huge ice-cream lover and my aim is to look for the best ice-cream parlor in Singapore! lol

I was about to drool while reading about the great food reviews about The Daily Scoop and I can't wait to try it! The chance finally came when I was at Holland Village and Chip Bee Gardens was just a stone throw away from Holland Village.

I was looking forward to try out ginger crumble and green with red bean - I'm a green tea fantongue - but apparently, both flavours were unavailable and I was quite disappointed sad
Hence, I tried Strawberry Shortcake and Simply Chocolate instead. A double scoop cost $5.60.
Strawberry Shortcake was fit for my palate as it tasted a little sour and was tangy and the shortcake added some mouth-feel to the ice-cream smile I felt as though I was eating real strawberries instead of an artificially flavoured strawberry ice-cream.
Simply chocolate is actually dark chocolate ice-cream, if you're a fan of dark chocolate do give it a try smile The bitterness of the chocolate was just right and not too sweet too~ lol

Given a choice, I would visit The Daily Scoop again to try out other flavours and also their waffles which are actually made on the spot.

A comfy place to chill out.  Smile Jun 22, 2012

Starbucks is one of the place I would frequent often as firstly, I see it as a comfy place to rest and watches the world goes by while having some alone time or a place to hang out with friends without the worry of being chased out. Secondly, I love the beverages and food from Starbucks with Iced Green Tea Latte/Frappe being the number 1 favourite drink of mine. lol

I visited the Holland V. Starbucks today and looking at the menu I was surprised that Starbucks actually has 2 new beverages on its menu namely Red Bean Green Tea Frappe and Hojicha and Tea Jelly Frappe. Being a huge fan of Green Tea I decided to try out the new Red Bean Green Tea Frappe. I was a little disappointed with the drink as I felt that Red Bean and Green Tea complement each other well with red bean giving a little sweetness to the bitter green tea. But in this case, the red bean overpowers the taste of a green tea making the drink sweeter than usual. All I could taste when I drank the green tea frappe was red bean. Mmm...shocked I prefer the original Green Tea Frappe. But if you have a tad for red bean do give it a try for the drink was spammed with lots of red bean.

I had the sun-dried Tomato, turkey ham and Monterey Jack too. In case you're wondering, Monterey Jack is actually an American Cheese made with cow's milk. smile
The sun-dried tomato actually enhances the taste of the ham-and-cheese combination plus there is an additional spread of tomato paste on the bread giving it more flavour.
For red beans lovers.

For red beans lovers.

There is breakfast set meal which cost $6.90 which includes a sandwich and a tall-sized coffee. This set meal is really value for money as the sandwich itself cost about $5.80 with the drink the cost of having a meal usually goes up to more than $10.

I'm not really a hardcore carnivore but since my group of friends asked me out to have lunch at Carnivore I decided to give it a try. Carnivore was having its 1-for-1 promotion and we were the second in queue as we reached there before 11am but nearing to 12pm the queue was unbelievably long shocked

Once seated in the restaurant, we went to get the greens from the salad counter. There was actually a variety of food from the salad counter such as black beans with stewed beef, lady fingers, tuna salad, coleslaw etc. Of all the food my favourites were the tuna salad and lady fingers. The tuna salad is a little different from the normal tuna salad found outside. The tuna salad actually contains big red beans and onions instead of the usual tuna with mayonnaise sauce. The lady fingers were also soft and easy to chew and not hard and crunchy.

The meat were served by passadors who moved from table to table carrying the different meat. During lunch, they have beef, pork, fish, chicken thigh, ham, chilli chicken sausage, bacan wrapped chicken and lamb. Of all the different meats, I like the fish, chicken thigh, ham and chilli chicken sausage the best.
The fish was tender and not too salty, chicken thigh was tender, succulent and the skin was quite crispy.

The lamb and beef didn't taste as good because they have the "smell" that linger behind in the mouth after chewing it.
The pork was hard and dry as though it was overcooked. It made chewing quite tough and was like an exercise for my jaws. sad

Overall, I wouldn't want to visit Carnivore for the second time as firstly it was really meat overwhelming and secondly, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Replace ice-cream w/ froyo! Smile Jun 18, 2012

Categories : Frozen Yogurt

FROYO FTW!
Loving Froyo because a) it is low in calories, a great food to snack on without any guilt
b) probiotics are good for the intestines
c) a great option to replace ice-cream.

I'd a regular cup of rockmelon w/ granola as my topping. I guess that rockmelon is going to be one of my favourite flavour from Yami Yogurt now. smile
I think that granola is the best match for froyo. 2 thumbs up! ^^
