The tang hoon is cooked till soft and very easy to eat. The rest of the items such as beancurd skin and chicken cutlets are deep-fried till crispy. Overall it is still an ok meal.

YTF Escapade 2 OK Jun 05, 2013

I had this yong tau foo sometime back and it was nice. Every served ingredients is fresh and hand made by themselves. The soup is tasty and not a lot of msg has been added. I feel that it is worth of money. The location is busty with people most of the time so to avoid the long queue, it is best not to come by during peak lunch or dinner hours. the price is reasonable too. good

Not Authentic Thai OK May 20, 2013
Categories : Thai | Restaurant

There was a queue at New Station Snack Bar at 5th floor so we opted for this place instead. Moreover we needed a quieter place for a chat among colleagues. There were 8 of us, seating wise was good, the place wasn't noisy and you do not have hungry diners staring at you while you eat. Ordered the following: 2 pineapple fried rice at $13 each, steamed seabass for $30, salted egg prawn $36, shark's fin $26, mixed vege with seafood $16 and Omelette $16. When drinks were served, i've already suspected that its not a very authentic Thai food place. I ordered thai ice tea but what was served was more like the usual teh bing from coffeeshop. Food wise only the shark's fin and salted egg prawn was worth mentioning, the rest were average with the mixed vege and omelette a little disappointing. Total bill for 8 pax was $167, come here if you want a quiet place but for authentic thai food, you may want to pass on this.

Real Claypot Rice OK May 20, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Hawker Centre | Rice

first of all, i must say 511 is a real crowded place on sunday evening, almost every stall is crowded with people. My friendtold me the claypot rice here is nicer than the beach road one so came hunting for it. For $4.50, i ordered the 1 person set. Was kind of disappointed that the claypot was kind of small and thus the amount served. Ingredients wise pretty standard, lup cheong ,chicken, green onions and by default the provided the salted fish. No vege was provided though. Taste wise i would say its average but i do like the salted fish add on. But i observe one thing, that is the rice do not stick to the claypot, it either means the rice was only warm in the pot and not cooked or they perfectly control the timing so well. but i think its the former case coz i've never seen one claypot rice vendor do that. Chilli provided is the red cut chilli and soy sauce.

$3 mee rebus OK May 06, 2013
Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre

was having mee rebus craving so ordered from this stall since it has no queue, was quite surprised by the serving of the dish with just yellow mee and one hard boiled egg, that caused a whopping $3, for hawker price, this seems a little too high. The gravy was pretty average also. The tauhu goreng on the other hand was slightly better with the sauce made instantly and not premix, also costing $3. But it lack the punch without the usual shredded cucumber.
