Nice Ambience But Pricey Menu OK Oct 23, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Since August is my birthday month, my seniors have arranged a pre-birthday dinner session at Sun with Moon located at Wheelock Place. It is accessible by train and walking distance from Orchard MRT Station. I was late for the dinner as usual due to my work.

Anyway, here are the dishes that we ordered that night:-

Gindara Teriyaki & Ebi Tempura @S$29.80 . Grilled cod fish in teriyaki sauce served with assorted tempura. The gindara teriyaki size is very small. Ebi Tempura was crispy in the outside and the prawn is fresh.

I tried the Beef & Foie Gras Steak @S$33.80. Grilled beef sirloin and foie gras with slice apple in teriyaki sauce. It is quite innovative creation and turned out to taste delicious. The grilled beef was soft, tender and juicy and not to mention the foie gras taste awesome with the combination of the slice apple and sauce.

Salmon Teriyaki & Chicken Steak with the choice of black pepper sauce or teriyaki @S$15.80. Grilled salmon steak and chicken steak that goes well with the teriyaki sauce. The portion is quite small and not worth the value paying though. Nevertheless, the taste of the food is quite decent.

Salmon Chirashi Set @S$27.80. Nice presentation of sushi rice bowl with salmon sashimi, salmon roe and grilled salmon. My favourite fish all time. Sushi rice was sticky and tasty with the sushi vinegar taste.

I find the price is kinda pricey compared to other Japanese restaurants in Singapore that offers good Japanese food at a similar or lower price. This is my personal opinion and I may not want to return in near future given the available choices of Japanese restaurants in Singapore that offers similar dishes.

Penang Cuisine Buffet OK Oct 21, 2013

August month was my birthday month so my colleague decided to give me a treat. We decided to have a buffet dinner after work. Thus, we made a reservation on that day before headed over. Luckily we did as the place was crowded with customers.

Penang Hawker foods with the compulsory signature dishes Penang Char Kway Teow and Penang Assam Laksa. The char kway teow version taste similar with the ones I had in Penang. But it is considered quite good in Singapore for me as the wide kway teow is soft and nicely fried with lap cheongs and chives. Penang Assam Laksa tasted delicious too.

There are other local varieties to choose from the buffet. There is Indian food sections such as their rojaks, chinese cooked dishes and also Teow Chew porridges with varieties of dishes to choose from. We are spoilt with the choices and there are sashimi too. The sashimi are displayed at the sashimi counter and the chef will only prepare to cut to slices upon request.

Seafood sections are available next to sashimi counter. Fresh prawns and mussels are displayed. Cold salads are ready to consume as well.

As for desserts section, there are sweet cakes and puddings available.Nyonya kueh are available too. I also get to DIY ice kacang with my own choices of ingredients. Coffee and Tea sections are available as well. These are practically standard sections that not to be miss out from buffet list.

Jollibee Worth To Try OK Oct 06, 2013

Categories : Filipino | Fast Food | Halal

Dad wanted to try Jollibee when he was in Singapore on of the the weekend (Date of Visit: 4/8/2013). So, we headed to Lucky Plaza after our dinner just to try the chicken.
Little background story of Jollibee before moving on to my order smile

Jollibee is the largest fast food chain in the Philippines, with 780 stores nationwide. It has planted its roots across the globe with a total of 872 branches across South East Asia, the Middle East and North America till date. Continuing to spread the joy, it opens its first store in Singapore on 12 March 2013, at Lucky Plaza along the bustling Orchard Road.

Ever since it launches in Singapore, the queue has never ceased to extend beyond its restaurant’s perimeters.Since we wanted to try, we joined the queue too. However, the queue moved relatively fast though. It took about 15 minutes for us to get to the counter.

We ordered 6pcs chicken bucket @ S$16.00 (Amount due before GST: S$14.95). There are 5 of us so each of us had one piece to try and my dad ate two pieces.I think the brown sauce is signature for jollibee. It looks like mash potato gravy but doesn't taste like one. It compliments well with the crispy chicken. I would prefer the fried chicken here rather than Popeye's chicken. Crispy crumb chicken skin accompanied with the moist and tender texture of the chicken meat. It is not dry compared to other fast food chicken.

If the queue isn't too long and i can afford to queue, i will definitely patronize again. No wonder Filipinos here in Singapore got so excited when they knew that Jollibee is opening in Singapore.

The stall is located at basement 3 of the shopping mall with other different stalls. They served varieties of finger foods and mostly are fried items. The pricing labels for individual fingers foods are displayed accordingly at the display counter. We ordered few sticks to try which make up of S$10. The price per stick starts off from S$1.00 which is quite affordable to snack away.Order and payment are made on the spot.

Bulgogi Chicken 1 for S$1.00

Bulgogi Pork 1 for S$1.30

BBQ Shitake Stick 1 for S$1.30

After trying few of them, my favourite will be BBQ Shitake stick.

The cafe is located at level 3 of the shopping mall.It is located in between of Lowrys Farm and Uniqlo apparel retail shop. The cosy cafe where patrons can sit down and laze around and have a comfortable meal. There is a self service water counter where customers can have ice water at their own service.

we decided to try their all day breakfast which is the essential British $18.baked beans, chorizo sausage, scrambled egg on mashed potato drizzled with brown sauce, cheese on toast. The presentation looks appetizing. The toasted bread is crunchy and it blends well with the scrambled egg and mashed potato.Loving the brown sauce that compliments well with the sausage and the other dishes.
