Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH) is a coffee bar located at the industrial area which has been raving about over the media reviews. I finally got a chance to drop by the unique architectural design. The place is restored to its original hardware store decoration and well-maintained with the gems. The entrance of CSHH is the metal swing gates with the ‘towing zone’ sign.

It is approximately 10-15 minutes walking distance from Lavendar MRT station. 150 Tyrwhitt Road is in the part town between Lavendar Street and Jalan Besar Road, passying by Stadium on your left. Towards the end to a T-junction till you spot a convenient store, it’s nearby there. You will see traditional hardware shops along the area and the entire streets are quiet.

Inside the Coffee Bar, the 360 degree interaction of coffee bar counter outshines the uniqueness of the place as well. Baristas and customers are able to interact together.

Once you step into CSHH, you will need to find place to seat first. There are many people flowing in especially during holiday and weekend. No reservations are allowed. Customers will have to be self-service and order and make payment at the cashier counter. Orders will be served by the staff after that.

We ordered 2 sets of scrambled eggs with bacon @ $11.00 per set. Scrambled eggs was moist and smooth and the bacon served was crunchy. Nothing much to rare about it but the overall taste is fine.

My friend ordered a cup of daily hot brew @ $5.00. Smell of fragrance black coffee brighten up her day No wonder people are coming back for their coffee.

I am not a coffee person so I ordered Earl Grey Tea @ $7.00 which comes with a pot of tea and a cup. The presentation is clear and classy. Loving the taste of the earl grey.

Total bill inclusive 7% GST was S$34.00 for 2 persons. CSHH was full house when we went over that day. So i would suggest not to drop by during weekend and also public holidays. I would definitely be back for the ambience and try their desserts and other foods. It is a cosy comfortable place to hang out with friends.

Traditional Dessert Smile Aug 27, 2013

It is always the traditional desserts that we will always craving for Asians. Ah Chew desserts are no strangers to Singaporean for its famous desserts. People are flowing in and out from the dessert shop located at Liang Seah street.

Ah Chew occupies 2 shops next to each other and has doubled their sitting capacity. However, if you are coming in a big group, it is likely to be hard to find seats. You will always have difficulties finding seats whenever you drop by. But lucky for us on that day (8/8/2013) , we managed to secure a table for a quick refreshment. Note, you will not be able to chat after your dessert as there like likely people eyeing on your seats by then.
It is a self-service dessert shop where we place our order at the cashier counter and made payment upon ordering. The staff will then serve us the desserts.

Mango Pomelo $4.00 .Mango taste sweet and the pomelo meat blends inside the mango sago enhance the taste. The slight sour pomelo neutralises the sweetness of the mango.

Black Glutinous Rice Desserts ($2.90). The ‘spider web’ design presentation with a bit of toasted almond flakes was something fascinating. The black glutinous rice was grainy and a subtle creamy taste. It is quite a filling dessert.
The queue can be very bad sometimes and some customers tend not to queue for it. The staffs can be quite loud to customers when the place is crowded with people. So if you are going for good desserts, I guess you won’t mind on the staff services.

Antoinette is no stranger to Singapore social media media and many food reviews. The owner, Chef Pang Kok Keong has started this business at the right time and earned its name with an unique class of its own. The interior decoration and also the furniture such as the chairs, tables and cutlery are at the high-end side. The cutlery and napkins are labelled with the classic gold letter “A”. The serving staff were well-dressed and polite manners. Every bits of the restaurant brings out the feeling of high-end French restaurant.

We ordered Club Honey Baked Ham sandwich @ $15.00. The sandwich comes with honey backed ham slices, omelette, mayonnaise, plump tomatoes, potato chips, fresh lettuce and petit salad with house dressing. The presentation is as good as its taste.

Seafood Alio Olio @ $26.00. The spaghetti comes with mussels, scallops, squids, prawn cooked in white wine sauce with olive oil, chilli and Italian parsley. The seafood size are quite jumbo which makes the overall spaghetti worth its value.

Dessert choice was Chocolicieux @ S$9.00. Chocolate ice-cream with chocolate crumble and dark chocolate pieces. Sinful and yummy I would say.The crepe was nicely done. The combination of cold and hot does the wonder.

Overall dinner was pleasant with quiet surrounding at Palais Renaissance. It was a good decision to have dinner at this branch as no many people in the restaurant. I think partly due to the location is further away from the Orchard mrt station. Customers would prefer to go to Mandarin Gallery branch instead as the location is near to a MRT station.

Dessert After Dinner Smile Aug 06, 2013

My sis bf recommended us to the dessert shop that is nearby to his house. We went there for dessert after a quick dinner. There is queue post barrier at the ordering area where we can see people keep flowing in to order for takeaway. Most of the customers are mainly heartlanders.

The menu was displayed on the wall and we pick our choices from there.

Dad ordered Ching Tng @ S$1.70 with the choice of hot condition. It served with generous ingredients such as longans, jellies, pong da hai and etc. He commented that it is not too sweet and it suits his taste bud.

We ordered ice jelly with soursop @ S$2.20 . The shaved ice mixture with the generous soursop fruity taste gives the refreshing taste of it. Jelly is soft and smooth.

Followed by Mango milk ice @ S$2.50 . Mango cubes are overflowing on the topping serving. The mango taste is slightly different from the one that we normally tasted in most of the dessert shop. They uses half-ripe mango instead.

We also had sweet potato longans in hot condition @ S$1.40. The sweetness is just nice for the combination.

Since it is self-service, we find the staff was quite efficient with the customer flow. The shop has minimal decoration and it has ample of seating in and outside, There is a mounted television at one corner of the shop. It is typical neighbourhood place where customers can just sit down and relax for dessert while watching television or chit chatting session.

Italian Cuisine for Lunch Smile Jul 23, 2013

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Pasta | Pizza

Had a good lunch on last Friday with my lady boss and colleague. We had Italian cuisine for lunch. It has been a hectic week with tender submissions and issues going on in works. I am so glad it’s over for the week.

My lady boss recommended us La Pizzaiola restaurant located at Jalan Riang. The restaurant is a homely Italian pizzeria that located in the Braddell Height Estates and an approximately 10-15minutes walk from NEX shopping mall. It is quite inconvenient for those who are taking public transport as it is not accessible.

Nevertheless, it does not stop people for coming in for dining. Based on some reviews from several blogs, the restaurant is owned by the same guys who run Pietrasanta at Portsdown Road (which I haven’t tried before). La Pizzaiola offers great foods and a great price for 12” pizzas for S$14 - 17, pastas for S$13 - 15 and house wine for just S$8 a glass. The price is quite decent and affordable too. No wonder, the night dinning was overflowing of customers.

This time round we went for lunch so the restaurant was quite empty. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable as well. They are well-trained and know the dishes listed in the menu well.

Risotto Allozafferano consists of the Italian Risotto with Saffron - $14.90. We have additional ingredients which is the prawn into the risotto which cost few additional dollars. The risotto was well prepared with generous topping of saffron which makes the whole meal taste delicious.

Ham Mushroom & Cream with Green Spaghetti - $12.90. The spaghetti wasn’t too hard or soggy. It blends well with the sauce. The sauce is very rich and it taste creamy even by looking at it.

We had Torta Pistocchi all the way from Italy. Florence Dark Chocolate Dessert - $8.90/slice: Thumbs up for this! Awesome taste of rich chocolate! The cake has the smooth taste and it just melts into your mouth.

The pizzas is a must-try list if you are dropping by. It serves the thin crusted slices of pizzas with different flavors. I would definitely visit the restaurant again for dining. However, if you are going down as a big group for dinners, I would suggest to make a reservation before dropping by to avoid disappointment as dinner time is quite crowded.
