Fruitty Cake OK Jan 28, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Desserts and Cakes

It's my second visit to Fruit Paradise cafe with my cousins. Lucky enough this time round it is not full house. We got our seats for 5 pax. The cafe is located at basement 1 of Raffles City Shopping mall which is easily accessible through City Hall MRT station. The staff served us ice water upon request and took our order.

We ordered Chocolate Banana @S$6.80 per slice. If you are observative enough, they cake slice was presented with different art design to beautify the presentation. The quality of the cake is consistent compared to my last visit. The chocolate and banana slice was perfect combination.

This time round, we ordered Mixed Tart @S$7.80 per slice.Combination of 9 kinds of fresh fruits on creamy mustard mousse was something new to us. The combination of the fresh fruits slices was nicely done. Loving the presentation colours. We can taste different kinds of fruits at one time go. Yummy!!

Fruit Paradise is one of an ideal place to chill with friends, over fruity tea or soda and a slice of fruit tart. The concept of the place is cafe theme where customers can choose to enjoy the desserts and tea. It ended well for us smile

Seafood Feast Smile Jan 12, 2013

Long Beach has its long history in Singapore which has more than 66 years of experience. It is also a chain of restaurants operating in the island. The premium seafood restaurant that serves wide range of quality fresh seafoods for customers to choose from.

Anyway,it was a treat from my boss and exclusively for ladies only. So basically all the ladies in my company are out for the night for the dinner. We went to one of the branch located at Dempsey Road.It was pack with customers and bookings throughout the night. We have 12 of us and one of them only take HALAL foods so she ordered food from the next restaurant.

All photos taken using iphone 4s so do bear with the quality.

Fried you tiao with mayonnaise and it is crispy at the outer and smooth in the inner.Love having it with mayonnaise sauce.

Cereal prawn which they commented fresh.

We also have the spicy chilli crab which we have it with the man tao.Their man tao is different from the one we always had it. This is more like western style but the taste is still the same old man tao taste.

Fried Kangkong with cuttle fish. This is something new as we never tried fried kangkong before and it turned out just nice. It was their new recommendation. The presentation of the dish is attractive too.

Salted egg crab which i prefer more salted egg with it. This one is a bit dry but the crab flesh meat is very fresh and it is in big size.

Followed by the steam fish which the meat is very smooth and the steaming is just nice.

Marinated chicken essence which taste delicious.
Total damage SGD494++ and i must say Longbeach is a good choice for seafood place.Reservation is required when you pay a visit to this branch. The restaurant is crowded with customers. Overall ,it is a nice dinner with good laughter.

Chinese Cuisine for Dinner OK Jan 06, 2013

Categories : Shanghainese | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Noodles

There are reviews from bloggers' blogs about the famous and colourful xiao long bao. Finally got the chance to try. We headed over for dinner @ ION Orchard on Sunday. It was a long queue when we headed over for dinner. So we had to wait for a while before we managed to get a seat.

A must try signature dynasty dumplings S$13.80 for 8pcs.Each colour of dumplings bring out different flavors. From top, orange for crab roe, green for ginseng, white for classic, pink for szechuan, peach for foie grass, middle black for black truffle, yellow for cheese and lilac for garlic. There were served pipping hot clear broth. The taste wise is quite innovative and the skin is very thin. There is a little chewiness in the skin's texture. Overall is quite refreshing and taste is pretty alright but i won't queue and wait to have this.

Steamed Chive Dumplings in 6 pieces @ S$4.80. (Not uploaded here).
This dumplings' skin is slightly thick than the xiao long bao. The taste wise is fine and the fillings are quite rich.

My pick of that day: La Mian in Signature Pork Bone soup and Deep fried Pork Rib S$11.80.
It was surprisingly good for me especially deep fried pork rib. It was nicely deep fried pork rib. The softness of meat texture attracts my taste bud. The noodle's texture is springy and the soup base is compatible with the noodle.

Chilled Slice Pork with special sauce and minced garlic @ S$7.80
Love this dish. It is my favourite dish.It is very appetizing and it goes well with the sauce.

La Mian with Sliced Pork with signature pork base soup.
The slice pork is thin and goes well with the compatible soup base.

La Mian with Poached Marble Beef Style in szechuan style @ S$12.80
The soup base is extremely spicy and we cannot take it. I think it will be a good choice for spicy lover.

Overall the service staffs are prompt and efficient. The servings were very fast and less than 20 minutes. So i believe the turnover sales for the restaurant is quite good. It's a decent place for dining. However i think i will not queue if the queue is long.

Sister's Birthday Treat Smile Jan 06, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes

It was a friday night few days before my birthday. My sister suggested to have sisters' gathering and we decided to meet up at Raffles City Shopping Centre after work. It is accessible by City Hall MRT Station.
I turned up almost 9pm and we decided to go for Canele Patisserie for dinner cum desserts.
The foods that we ordered that night:-

Pancake style which is quite similar with roti canai style. Combination of fresh vegetables and turkey hams and delightful sauce to go with the crepe.

Spaghetti with mushroom sauce and ham. Not sure the actual name of the dish but it is definitely a creamy one. It is awfully sinful for me as i feel that my weight increase with the creamy sauce.

My sister ordered sandwiches with eggs and hams if i am not mistaken. It's surely a big portion one and she can only stuffed part of it.
Very filling one!

Desserts that we ordered:-
Le Royale is definitely a good choice for chocolate lover. A slice that costs S$7.48 is surrounded by the wall of chocolate glaze and almonds and topped with the heavenly bubble dark chocolate that melts into your mouth.

In love with their desserts. No wonder Canele is always in the dessert list if you google search through website. It definitely live up with their reputation. The desserts are very rich with ingredients and presentation. The presentation has taken the limelight of the day as it will attracts sweet tooth lovers to order. I do admit i am one of the sweet tooth lover. It totally brighten up the day when it slips into my mouth. I sound exaggerate? But i am chocolate lover and this dessert really satisfied my cravings for chocolate taste.

Birthday Celebration Smile Jan 03, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I had my friend's birthday celebration.Initially we wanted to have our dinner at a korean restaurant at Orchard Central recommended by one of us but in the end we sat for like 15-30 minutes, we decided to go for other options.

In the end, we choose Ootoya Japanese restaurant for celebration. It's my all time favourite choice for homely made feel japanese cuisine. We managed to get a place for 8 pax and the servings are quite promptly.

Photos of the foods that we ordered that night:-
Sumibutadon set meal @ S$23.50
Rice bowl with charcoal grilled pork and sweet sauce. Love the charcoal grilled style which makes the whole meal more appertizing!

Shogayaki Set meal @ S$23.50
It's sauteed ginger pork with a set of refillable rice, miso soup and side dishes.
My friend commented too much of ginger slices but overall was nice.

Another order from Shio Koji Menu.
Buta Shio Koji jyu @S$23.50 for set meal. The combination of grilled pork loin marinated with shio koji sauce and served with potatoes and vegetables. Absolutely lovely combination. The pork loin is tender and the meat is juicy as well. Totally worth value for a homely set meal.

Never disappoint us with the foods served at all. Everyone is pleased with the foods and staffs services as well. My friend did a refill rice and had a filling dinner that night.
