Authentic Japanese Ramen Smile Jun 12, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Had my dinner with my fiancee at Hachifukumaru. I was quite surprised the whole restaurant was empty ( maybe it was a monday night and the restaurant was actually quite hidden.

One interesting thing about this restaurant was that the staffs and the chef was shouting in japanese a few times during my meal. They shouted the moment we stepped in which i supposed its a greeting. After a few mins, the chef shouted in japanese and the staff responded by shouting too and brought us the food ( so i presume is they were indicating to serve the food) .

Pork Cha shu Ramen - The soup based was cooked with garlic oil. It was quite thick but not too overwhelming. The noodles were also quite chewy.

Negri Ramen - Same soup base but it was filled with a huge brunch of fresh spring onion which i supposed that was imported from Japanese. The spring onion provides an additional sweet taste to the soup.

Mentai Tamago - Pan fried egg filled with spicy fish roes. It was very creamy and really tasted eggy.

Dessert! Smile Jun 12, 2013

Categories : Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

After purchasing my betrothal gifts at one of the shops in people's park centre with my fiancee, was feeling a bit hungry. Happened to pass by this stretch of the 2nd storey and saw two stores offering dessert. Decided to give this store a try since it was more well furnished.

- Tow Suan - the soy bean ( i supposed) was not too soft. In fact quite crunchy.

- Glutinous Rice Balls with peanut soup - the glutinous rice balls was quite chewy and it was filled with peanuts fillings. However, the soup was too sweet for me.

Been a while since i last visited Delifrance for a meal. It seems that most of their outlets are closed down.

This new outlet is located at the new furbished Hougang 1 ( used to be called Hougang Point).

Seafood D'sire - Generous servings of seafood mayonnaise served with croissant.

Apple Turnover - Crispy crust with apple fillings

Mushroom soup - very creamy and tasty

Had a mini gathering with my friends at The Buffet located in M Hotel. Most of us would thought that it should be a normal international kind of buffet but they are actually offering steamboat buffet.

They are basically 4 types of soup base : Chicken herbal, Laksa, Tom Yam and Miso. You can choose up to 2 soup base per steamboat. So since we had 2 steamboats, we tried all the soup base. The laksa soup based is worth mentioning ; although it seems quite watery, the laksa taste was quite strong and tasty. The rest of the soup base are quite normal.

The Buffet offers quite a big spread of items for their steamboat buffet. From normal Nong Tau hoo to seafood ( they even served white pomfret) to sliced meat ( pork, mutton & beef).

And the best part is that they offered a wide spread of dessert too!

Set Lunch OK May 19, 2013

Categories : Café | Kids-Friendly

Went for my lunch at Han's at Far east plaza. Ordered their set lunch which comes with a soup of the day, a main dish, drink and dessert.

The soup of the day was cream of cauliflower. It was quite thick and creamy but it does not really have any taste of cauliflower.

The fish and chips was quite a big portion. But the batter was too thick. It comes with thick cut fries and coleslaw by the side.

Overall, it was quite ok considering the price i paid for it .
