New Menu OK Jul 11, 2013

This was my 2nd visit to Olio Cafe and found out that they actually had a change in their menu. Abit disappointed to see that their crayfish pasta with sambal egg sauce was no longer available.

Caesar Salad - The lettuce was fresh and crunchy. The only bad thing is that they are too generous with the sauce which makes the salad quite salty

Seafood squid ink spaghetti - The spaghetti was made out of squid ink. The pasta sauce was quite nice but didnt really have the taste of squid ink.

Still prefer their old menu.

Western Food Smile Jul 11, 2013

This western food stall had been around since my poly days which was 13 years ago (I think they started their business even earlier than that). From then till now, it still attracts long queues even on weekdays.

Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce - Huge juicy chicken fillet which was pan fried till a bit crispy on the outside, but the inside was still very tender. The mushroom sauce not just add to the flavor but also help to make the chicken chop not that dry.

I still prefer Ya Kun OK Jul 11, 2013

After having our lunch at far east plaza, my colleagues and i decided to have some coffee before heading back to work. One of my colleagues suggested to have our coffee at Good morning Nanyang Cafe since Ya Kun is always packed and we do not have too much time to wait as lunch hour is going to be over soon.

It was also quite packed when we reached but still managed to find a seat.

Coffee with milk - It was a bit too thin and sweet for me.

Kaya Toast - Quite normal. Not as crunchy as the ones that I had in Ya Kun.

Dim Sum OK Jul 08, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Coffeeshop | Dim Sum

Visited Yi Dian Xin for my brunch. It is located in the shop that is selling teo chew porridge.

If you are someone that likes to have your meal in a cool and comfortable environment, this is not a place for you. It is an open space area, not air conditioned , just like any kopitiams.

Braised Chicken Feets - Not the best that i had before but still decent.

Custard Buns - One of their signature dishes. The buns were soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk fillings are nicely done.

Rice roll with char siew - Nice and smooth texture for the rice roll.

Deep Fried Prawn Dumpling - The crust was crunchy. The fillings are quite salty though.

Country Style Restaurant Smile Jul 04, 2013

Categories : American | Bars/Lounges

Had my lunch with my colleagues at Jamboree Bar & Car. It is located at the 2nd floor of Orchard Towers, just beside the escalator.

Although it looks like more to a bar than a restaurant to me, they actually served set meals.

Ordered the shepherd pie set which comes together with a soup of the day and a drink

Mushroom Soup - not the best that i had before but still quite decent considering that it is with a set meal

Shepherd Pie with minced beef - The mashed potato is very soft and has a very nice buttery taste. The taste of the minced beef is just nice and it was quite tender too.

Most importantly, they do not charge GST and Service charges!
