Different Menu Daily OK Sep 12, 2013

My view of this place is - there's always surprises. Despite having a different menu for each day, there will occasionally be special offerings like this day where the usual menu was mushroom noodle and fried beehoon, today they had fish soup bee hoon and fried nian gao. The fish soup cost $5 though, i would say its very average, maybe its a trial on whether their recipe appeals, the soup is not sweet enough and the fish meat tasted a little too fried with too much flour. The nian gao cost $1 and not too bad, a nice after lunch snack.

goodbye $2.50 Smile Sep 12, 2013

Unfortunately the cheapest pork porridge around this area is no longer valid, its $3 now instead of $2.50, additional ingredients option for another dollar and additional egg for 50 cents. As usual i opted for the combo of everything so that sets me back at $4.50. Then i also ordered some side dishes from the curry rice section, curry chicken, pork chop and cabbage. Love the laid back coffeehouse style environment.

Car Mechanic Garage?  OK Sep 12, 2013

Came by here to consume my group buying voucher. The voucher gets me 1 serving of Food Garage's Ala-Carte BBQ Spare Ribs at only $13.80 instead of $22.25. That is 400-450 grams of BBQ spare ribs served with salad & potato wedges. The interior deco and theme will probably be the first to attract diner's attention, from the spanner set displays on the wall, the large chain ring/gear set, very much resembling of things you find in a auto garage. The cashier is also lined with some antique old cars. There's around 3-4 seats by the window so you overlook the start of Chinatown stretch, pretty nice actually. Back to the food, it was a huge slab served, with potato wedges and chopped salad. Upon the 1st bite, it brought me to comparison to barbacoa at city square mall and cafe cartel, i would rate it better than cafe cartel but losing out slightly to barbacoa. The ribs are well grilled and evenly coated with the bbq sauce. I would grip about the temperature of the food though, preferring it to be warmer instead. The salad was also served with light dressing which definitely beats the plain organic ones with nothing on it. wedges went well with this combination as well.

Thumbs Up for the Design Smile Sep 11, 2013

Was shopping in the area when I chanced upon this new stall at the basement area of far east. You may not spot it unless you wander to the back lanes. There is a particular cupcake that caught my eye, the sea salt caramel flavor which had a daring and bold looking topping on top of the mocha chocolate based muffin. I love the boldness is selling something that look like this so i supported it. It costs me $3.80 for the muffin and I simply loved it. I like such muffin where its soft to bite on, the top layer actually taste more like cream to me but it was nice. Was hoping to have more chocolate bits in the muffin though. I will support this place especially its relying on its products to sell and unlike twelve cc which leverages on celebrity couple endorsement tongue. Maybe they can do well and look for a better location soon!

Nasi Padang Smile Sep 11, 2013

This huge plate for $6. I came by at around 3pm, they were still serving but the place was empty at this non peak hour. There were several gravy types available and according to the guy there, the lontong gravy look alike is the most spicy and warn me about it, i opted the less spicy version instead. For dishes i ordered fried chicken, cabbage, tempeh and anchovies peanuts. Fantastic eat, my only gripe is that the food is not hot enough, they should hv turned up the heat more but again maybe its non peak hour so they turned it down.
