Looks Nice...Thats about all Cry Sep 11, 2013

1st i must say the stall looks tempting to any diner with the nicely roasted offering on display. I fell for this temptation. Ordered a char siew and roast duck mixed set for 1. The roast duck comes sprinkled with sesame seat. I just find the sauce mix a tad too saltish. The char siew was not fat but it lack the well roasted factor so was kind of disappointed. Couldn't taste the sesame infusion in the duck as well. So i felt it was overrated. Paid $5 for my set

Expensive Nasi Padang OK Sep 11, 2013

Categories : Malay | Food Court | Halal

not the most pleasant dining experience mainly due to the price. Food court style nasi padang. Ordered french bean, a small drum stick and a bit of rendang. The cucumber were complimentary. This sets me back at a whopping $8. I was actually a bit shocked. I must say though the taste was pretty alright. But not to the extent of a wow factor especially with this kind of pricing. No wonder the queue is shorter than all the other stalls smile

Located at the same coffeeshop as the famous toa payoh bai meefen, this stall is popular with diners with its YTF offering. Healthy buffs may not necessary like this place as the crunchy fried stuffs are the main attraction in my opinion. From fried tau kee to ngoh hiong to wantan, my order delighted me much with no noodles, done dry style with the sweet sauce and chilli drained over it. I did add on water cress vege though which was also nice. Tip: i realized its better to eat at this place at night when the soup has been boiled for the whole day, it just taste sweeter IMO. My set cost $4.50.

Dining at the Gardens Smile Sep 11, 2013

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta

The concept here is more of a communal style where each the entire space is lined with restaurant offerings side by side. You actually see dining for the other restaurant opposite your table kind. Came here for business lunch, ordered minestrone soup and mushroom soup at $7 each. Seafood Stew pasta which was served with shell like gnocchi pasta $20, parma rocket pizza $17. For drinks we had iced cappa $5.50 and green apple juice at $5.

The soup was nice and comes with a small piece of bread. The will actually check if you want your mains to be served with the soup, nice touch. And they do actually monitor your speed of consumption and jump in with the mains once you are done with the soup. Both the mains were above average with both the fire baked thin crust with parma ham combining perfectly. Also the seafood stew taste like marinara but with bigger size ingredients, it was nice to have the shell liked pasta as well. Overall a fantastic eat. Place is quiet in the afternoon so perfect for a business lunch. Only gripe is the price.

7% GST and 10% Svc charge applicable. Total bill adds up to $72.39.

At Least an Alternative Smile Sep 11, 2013

Categories : Hakka | Coffeeshop

By 8pm, the famous 928 Ngee Fou Ampang YTF would have closed, this is the next alternative available just 2 doors away. You are allowed to choose more variety here, in fact you can also opt to choose the ingredients yrself just like the typical YTF stalls. You will always see the boss drinking beer in the shop with friends. Most of the workers are PRCs. The drinks are sold by them as well a separate smaller kway chup and braised duck rice offering. I was lazy and opted to leave them to choose for me a 1 person share, only requesting to hv more of the crunchy stuffs. When served, i was delighted with a plate of 2 tau kee, kang kong, brinjal, fried toufu, ngoh hiong, fish ball, fried wantan, bittergourd...pretty good variety i must say. And their sauce mix has definitely improved over time and i dun think they lose out to 928 alot. Its more to the saltier side though. Overall i rate it a good eat, can't exactly remember the pricing but it should be <$8 definitely.
