2 person set Smile Aug 08, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Roasted Meat

We ordered the 2 person set meal and it consists of the following dishes. The pork ribs came before our rice, and I was
already separating the bones from the flesh, and at the same time savouring the sweetness of the sauce. The vegetable dish did not really interest me as I attacked the other dishes first. My priority normally goes to the meat dishes, and thankfully my friend enjoyed the vegetables! Each of us had a bowl of lotus soup and I loved the sweetness and the taste of it. Within a couple of minutes, my bowl was already empty. The 'Dang Gui' duck came slightly late and by then I had already finished half the bowl of rice (The pork ribs were too yummy!). The duck did not lose out to the pork ribs as its tender flesh was infused with the herbal essence which made it stood out. Overall the dishes were really Chinese style and I quite enjoyed the meal.

New York New York Smile Aug 08, 2012

My friend and I went to New York New York early that day so that we did not have to snatch seats with the dinner crowd. I
always like salmon, no matter if it's raw, cooked or smoked. I ordered this dish which was something like KFC's melt.
(Only that it was thin slices of smoked salmon within instead of chicken.) I did not even need the tomato dip for my
triangular sandwiches. My friend ordered the common fish and chips. The batter sure was crispy (you could tell from the looks of it too), and wasn't too thick. Tender fish flesh was encased within the crunch!

Desserts after meal Smile Aug 08, 2012

After a meal of garlic bread and meatball pasta, my friend added on a dessert of nutella crepe. The thin crepe was served
soaking with gooey nutella sauce which made Ocf really excited. The scope of chocolate ice cream and chunk of nuts
added on to his pleasure. I guessed he really loves the hazelnut and chocolate combination.
As for me, after my really satisfying meal of mushroom soup and mushroom crepe with egg (mushroomy meal!), I
decided to pick the lava cake with a scope of vanilla ice cream as dessert. The first thing I would do when I see a lava cake is to slice through it, allowing the sludgy-looking 'lava' to gently flow out of its confinement! (At the same time, to take a shot of it.) Enough of playing and back to eating. The cake was rather thin (sponge) and had plenty of chocolaty calories! As usual, the chocolate went pretty well with the vanilla ice cream.

Carnivore Buffet Smile Aug 12, 2012

Categories : Latin American/South American | Steaks and Grills | Buffet

As I did not eat my breakfast (typical Singaporean style before going for a lunch buffet), I quickly went over to the self-serve section to help myself with some food before I got overly starved. The meat only arrive based on time interval, due to the time needed for grilling.
First slab of meat arrived and I seriously loved it! It was slightly chewy due to a little fats in there, and it was certainly dripping with meaty juices. Beef that I had slight difficulty eating. The meat kept getting stuck in my teeth and prolonged chewing made me rather lazy to keep up with the movement. These plump sausages were a hit among the four of us! I had 3 and I found that it was very mildly spicy. The mutton was one of my favourite too. I enjoyed the natural mutton taste and smell and I ate 3 pieces too! Fats (from the mutton)? They were the ones that contributed to its chewiness and juiciness. You should be prepared to have some fats intake the moment you stepped into carnivore. (Not that they serve fats but meat sure have fats!) Too much meat made our tummy felt rather bloated and uncomfortable, and we gladly invited the acidity and sweetness of the roasted pineapple into them. I could not helped it but to think that the pineapple actually acted as enzymes to break down the meat! We normally thought that watercress soup supposed to be clear and we were so wrong that day. It turned out to be slightly creamy (not exceedingly) and had many bits of watercress in it. I liked it so much that I drank 3 bowls! (I should stop typing out the amount I ate!)
Do not be like me and take so much coleslaw before trying. I regretted it because it was so sour and I could not finish it. I
liked the beetroot as it tasted sweet and sour at the same time. By the way, the baby octopus were really salty that day!
As for the fish, I expected it to be salty, just like the first time I ate at Vivocity. I was so right and I shared a piece with my friend. It was rather tender but had that fishy smell. The bacon with chicken breast finally came. It was always fully taken even before reaching our table (for the first few rounds). To my disappointment, it was horribly hard and had the strong garlicky taste which pricked my tongue constantly. We actually longed for something which tasted bad when the chicken thighs tasted much more heavenly. Anyway, they also have chicken heart upon request.

Mata Thai Smile Aug 12, 2012

Categories : Thai

The pandan leaf chicken came nicely wrapped in the form of 6 little dumplings. We did not really both about the glossy
looking surface as the chicken inside was what mattered most. Fragrant and so tender!
Pineapple rice was not bad and had generous amount of floss, pineapple and cashew nuts. The portion was a little too
small for 4 person to share though.
The fried squid were served crispy and puffy (batter). We all could have eaten this dish on its own as snacks!
Seafood Tom yam soup was a little too spicy for most of us. Luckily it was shared and we had a bowl each. Had some
prawns which I did not eat, some squid and mushrooms. The mushrooms were really sweet as maybe because they
absorbed the soup.
A simple dish of onion omelette. Simple yet delicious!
The mango sticky rice was disappointing as we felt that the rice was slightly hard, lacking the stickiness as well as the
chewiness. Although we shared among ourselves, we still did not finish the rice. (About 2 bites leftover only)
