Although the cake was simple, I like it very much. (Sometimes simplicity can be the best!) The
pandan and kaya combination went rather well together, emerging as one unique taste. They were like 2 ores, alloying
together to form a stronger material. (I must have played too much games in the past) Another thumbs up was because
of the alternating layers of sponge and pudding-like kaya, it did not contain any cream! (Do not count the decorations
on its surface; I did not like cream.)
Mum loves coffee and I have already guessed beforehand that she would order the coffee cake. Coffee sponge with
coffee flavoured cream. Everything about it was just coffee. I still preferred my pandan kaya cake!

The chocolate cake for desserts Smile Aug 12, 2012

After having my lunch set which included the tomato soup and drink, I added on $2.50 for the chocolate cake. They only
have 2 choices of cake available for the set, which was either this chocolate cake or tiramisu. My friend tried this cake before
and he was praising it, although this time he did not want to add on for the cake (scared to put on extra calories). Do not
be fooled by my picture as the actual size of the cake was just about the length of my palm. To me, it should not have
been called a cake when it was more of a mousse. I enjoyed the strong chocolaty taste, the smoothness as well as the
denseness of it. It was already yummy even without the random scattering of the chocolate sauce which did not help at
all. Ocf could not take the temptation and ended up poking into my mousse with his fork!

Ice cream OK Aug 12, 2012

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

That day while I was along Upper Thomson Road, I decided to try out the ice cream at Scoopz since the weather was
rather hot. I ordered 2 medium scoops of ice cream for $3.90 and the serving size was pathetic. I was quite disgusted
when I started looking for a place to sit and realised that the place was full, except for a few tables that was not cleared.
(I had no choice but to sit at the table with 2 empty cups.) The two flavours I had were chocolate ganache and durian.
Both were supposingly strong flavours but I did not find them fantastic at all. I wanted to enjoy the melting-point of the
ice cream as they would melt slowly, coating its surface with cool liquid instead of poking into solid hard ice cream. I was
quite disappointed as the ice cream was against me and purposely did not want to melt readily. I felt like I was a teacher
forcing a student to read a passage from the textbook when they did not want to (when I started to smash the ice cream).

Egg tarts Smile Aug 12, 2012

My friend choose the green tea and orange chocolate while I choose the double chocolate and durian! Look at the shape of
these egg tarts, so different from the normal ones. They looked like little flower pots filled with egg custards. The egg
custards were really soft and yummy! We split all 4 into halves so that we could share all the flavours. The green tea flavour was the tart itself. The egg custards in the double chocolate and orange chocolate were flavoured with chocolate and orange respectively and as for the durian, real fillings! Our favourite was the durian egg tart. I did not make the wrong choice as before I actually ordered it, I went to ask the sales assistant if the durian was only the flavour. She said no and I ordered it straight away. I felt the real durian flesh at the base as I ate it. Just do not use too much force when you hold your little 'flower pots' as they were either quite fragile or I used too much force.

The tiramisu costs $5.50 and it comes in a plastic cup with some texts on it. A typical kind with layers of sponge and
mousse and a lump of 'macaroon' shell as decoration. Not really impressive anyway.
This slice of hazelnut cake costs $4.20 and I did not like it one bit. The base was made up of 3 mini swiss rolls which was
quite hard, with cream and cocoa coated the top surface. (I forgot to remove the plastic around it!)
As for the cheese cakes, they cost $2.20 each and they were in a sweet-looking package. I found the size just right as it was easy to eat in this stick form. It was surely meant to be an easy biteable andconvenient snack. Although the cheese taste was quite subtle, the texture was smooth. It went well with the biscuit-like base which was munchy and gave a nice crisp snap when I bite into it.
