Antoinette Smile Aug 12, 2012

Finally I had the chance to try out Antoinette's Antoinette (the cake which I ordered). Luckily for me, that day was not crowded as compared to weekends. I got a cosy seat by the corner, right under the light so that my pictures were
clear (so fortunate as the whole place was a little dim for clear shots). Right after being seated comfortably, I ordered straight away and waited super impatiently for my cake to arrive.
The cosy interior of Antoinette really suited me! Classy, cosy, sensual. A perfect place for small group gathering (provided the group do not make too much noise to spoil the ambiance). More perfect for a date with your lover as well as with family members. My cake finally arrived in front of me! I suspected that I may have a strange fetish for smooth and glossy looking cakes as I could not help admiring its surface. The booklet behind was actually the menu which I did not even flipped once as I was aiming the cake from the display counter the moment I stepped in. Instead of digging into Antoinette, my first reaction was to poke the red bubble resting on top of it. It was firm but clearly contained something within. I made a cut across the bubble, causing a small flow of jam t

o leak down slowly. I have no intention to spoil your appetite but it really reminded me of a female having her period! (No offence) Alright, enough of playing around and let my mouth do the job. I actually spread the sourish raspberry jam over the cake, hoping that it was the right way. The bubble was like jelly and I ate it appreciatively. Before I knew it, I have already eaten half the cake! (You must be dying to know how was it?) One word, heavenly! The first wave of taste that hit me unaware and flooded my mouth was the earl gray. After a few mouths, the taste of earl grey no longer lingered, but was overtaken by the more intense second wave of the chocolate (mousse/chocolate/crunch/sponge)! It was really an exclusive treat that inspired me with awe.

Jewels Artisan Chocolates Smile Aug 10, 2012

Finally! After taking a few quick shots, I started my indulgence! I ate the nut and the small piece of black garlic first. As
it was not my first time eating black garlic, I enjoyed the taste and the very mild sweet aftertaste. I tried controlling
myself to scope my Korean black garlic ice cream bit by bit to slowly enjoy the sweetness, but ended up finishing it in 2
mouth. My excuse was that it was seriously a small scope and ice cream do not taste nice when melted.
The next victim was this chocolate cake. I started off by stripping of its pieces of flakes around it, making it looked rather
naked (not that I am sicked). Luckily the layers of chocolate cream within were thin as I detest cream. The cake was
neither too bitter nor sweet and it was a well balance of the two. Next to go into my stomach was the black palm island salt macaroon. It looked so pure (maybe because it was white) and innocent, not knowing that I would torture it bite by bite (sadist thinking). I loved the strong almond taste and the salted egg filling inside which surprised me. I found the combination really special and satisfying. After seeing 3 of its other buddies from the same plate entering me, the red ruby (raspberry ganache paired with dark chocolate) was helpless. It was shaped to such perfection that it felt more like a decoration than a chocolate. It was even airbrushed to add on its appeal. A bite and I felt the raspberry taste, although the taste was a little faint. Last but not least, the set came with a pot of tea of my choice too. I decided to drink something fruity and picked passion fruit tea. The tea was fragrant and could fill about 3 and a half cup at least.

Sweets Garibaldi Smile Aug 10, 2012

My friend ordered the Crunchy Heaven as it was recommended by the staff. It was a combination of chocolate and hazelnut
cream, chocolate sponge with crunchy praline at its base. The 2 hazelnuts were 'glittering' and the chocolate decoration
had a certain thickness. Skk mentioned that luckily it was a small slice as eating too much would make him sicked of the
taste. (Although it was not too bad)
As for me, I decided to try the Garibaldi Cheesecake since it was one of the popular choice too. It had simple decorations
of a 'glossy' strawberry, blueberry and 2 strips of tangerine peels. The peels were sweet and had the unique taste of
tangerine. As for the cheese cake, I loved it! It was really light, just as the staff described. It crumbled effortlessly when
placed into my mouth and it doesn't make you want to spit out your sticky saliva after consuming it. (No unglam sounds
of trying to clear your throat because of the stickiness too!) There were also 3 orange flavoured jelly cubes hidden
within the cheesy cylinder that surprised and delighted me.

Original Sin Smile Aug 10, 2012

We added on a basket of garlic bread for $4. Just nice there were 4 pieces of bread. The bread looked almost burnt and
the charred taste was stronger than the garlic itself. My dad's main course was the greek salad. A really large load of vegetables right there. He disliked the olives which were rather sour and the feta cheese. (He is not a fan of cheese.)
My mum's main course was the spaghetti with basil pesto sauce. She liked the dish although there were no meat as the
seasonings were tasty enough. My bro's main course was the tofu burger. (Why tofu? This is a vegetarian restaurant if you have forgotten!) It came with potato wedges, salad and a dip. The patty was full of tofu and potato taste and was rather yummy. As for me, I had the mediterranean wrap. It was a scary load of vegetables when I first caught sight of it being placed right in front of me. No meat fan would want to eat that. It would be a torment. As for me, I do not mind trying it out. I bit my first mouthful and o...it tasted not bad and I am not kidding. The feta cheese gave taste to it, while the chickpea and pumpkin spread within made the wrap not so dry. Each mouthful was crunchy (because of the variety of vegetables inside) and at the end, I was full and satisfied. Each of us had dessert and a hot cup of tea or coffee. The dessert was brownie with a scoop vanilla of ice cream. Soft brownie was always one of my favourite dessert, especially those that do not make my saliva too sticky after eating it.

A lunch set Smile Aug 08, 2012

Categories : Italian | Bars/Lounges | Restaurant

It was my friend's birthday and I decided to give him a treat, a treat that he could remember as it was his 21th. After
meeting up with him, we walked along Bugis, trying to find the restaurant I had in mind. Unfortunately, we lost our way,
even with my phone's gprs. (I have a bad sense of direction sometimes). We ended up entering this atas looking italian restaurant.
We were not greeted well at first, partially due to our sloppy dressing. We were stunned when we were led inside, as we
did not expect this place to be so classy. After we were seated, we both picked the lunch set. We also ordered 2 bottles of sparkling water unknowingly which cost $9.00 each glass bottle (pure spring water, you can google for 'aqua panna', some water from Italy which tasted so refreshing). The environment was really comfortable and classy and we loved the atas feeling of fine-dining in such an awesome restaurant. After ordering the lunch set, we were served bread, olive oil and vinegar dip. The plain bread itself tasted excellent and crispy. The bread was free-flow and I asked for another slice. We both picked the crispy fish as our appetiser. It was crispy on the outside, fresh and tender inside. The mayonnaise dip made it less dry. My friend's main course was the slices of tender beef. He complained that the portion was too little as the meat was too addictive. For my main course, I tried the white tuna. Each bite from my tuna can feel the
freshness. It was tender and broke down easily in my mouth. I really hope the piece would enlarge itself by 10 times!
There were vegetables found below my tuna. At first, I stared at it as you know some vegetables teenager like me do not want to touch at all. Since I was paying for it, I just tried 1. Unknowingly, I loved the taste as it was really flavourful, full of herbs taste and I finished up all. While we both had tea, we watched the waiter pushed out a trolley of 3
different types of cake. He cut the cake on the spot and served us the cake of our choice. I had the tiramisu and I loved the creamy and smooth texture of it. My friend had the lemon cheese cake. There were jelly-like cubes within the
cake itself. Maybe they were to enhance the lemon and cheese?
