Carnivore Buffet Smile Aug 12, 2012
Categories : Latin American/South American | Steaks and Grills | Buffet

As I did not eat my breakfast (typical Singaporean style before going for a lunch buffet), I quickly went over to the self-serve section to help myself with some food before I got overly starved. The meat only arrive based on time interval, due to the time needed for grilling.
First slab of meat arrived and I seriously loved it! It was slightly chewy due to a little fats in there, and it was certainly dripping with meaty juices. Beef that I had slight difficulty eating. The meat kept getting stuck in my teeth and prolonged chewing made me rather lazy to keep up with the movement. These plump sausages were a hit among the four of us! I had 3 and I found that it was very mildly spicy. The mutton was one of my favourite too. I enjoyed the natural mutton taste and smell and I ate 3 pieces too! Fats (from the mutton)? They were the ones that contributed to its chewiness and juiciness. You should be prepared to have some fats intake the moment you stepped into carnivore. (Not that they serve fats but meat sure have fats!) Too much meat made our tummy felt rather bloated and uncomfortable, and we gladly invited the acidity and sweetness of the roasted pineapple into them. I could not helped it but to think that the pineapple actually acted as enzymes to break down the meat! We normally thought that watercress soup supposed to be clear and we were so wrong that day. It turned out to be slightly creamy (not exceedingly) and had many bits of watercress in it. I liked it so much that I drank 3 bowls! (I should stop typing out the amount I ate!)
Do not be like me and take so much coleslaw before trying. I regretted it because it was so sour and I could not finish it. I
liked the beetroot as it tasted sweet and sour at the same time. By the way, the baby octopus were really salty that day!
As for the fish, I expected it to be salty, just like the first time I ate at Vivocity. I was so right and I shared a piece with my friend. It was rather tender but had that fishy smell. The bacon with chicken breast finally came. It was always fully taken even before reaching our table (for the first few rounds). To my disappointment, it was horribly hard and had the strong garlicky taste which pricked my tongue constantly. We actually longed for something which tasted bad when the chicken thighs tasted much more heavenly. Anyway, they also have chicken heart upon request.

Antoinette Macarons Smile Aug 12, 2012   (Related Review)

Categories : French | High Tea | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

The 2 flavours which I took away were Antoinette (left) and Praline (right). Pointless for me to dine in for 2 macarons and
to pay for the Gst and service charge! Look at its thickness! The filling was so thick! Anyway, Praline was actually hazelnut. Sandwiched between the sugary flavoured shells, the filling contained bits of hazelnut chunks which added to the crunch. I felt like I was eating a cookie for a moment or two as I nibbled it, enjoying the nutty richness.
Antoinette, as expected shared the almost similar taste to the cake which I have tried before. The sense of familiarity hit
me hard and made me recalled how I really enjoyed the cake previously. Tasted of earl grey and chocolate which
matched so well, I bit further in to find its centre concealing a small pool of raspberry jam! (Just like the cake, only that
this time the jam was well hidden and appeared unexpectedly.)

Ramen Champion Bario Smile Aug 12, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen

After pondering through the menus and descriptions of each individual outlets, I decided to choose BARIO - The filling,
manly ramen! Nyx also ordered from the same outlet as me.
Nyx ordered the normal size bowl while I had the half bowl. As I disliked eating hard cabbages and beansprouts, I
requested them to be removed, to save the trouble of me picking them out. The first thing I did was to drink a spoonful
of soup. At first, it certainly was extremely thick and flavorful and we enjoyed it. However, prolonged drinking caused
our throats to get slightly irritated. (I added some spices and plenty of chopped garlic to boost the flavour even more.)
As for Nyx, the whole bowl of ramen made him really bloated because the ramen noodles were not those usual ones but
were rather broad, thick and chewy. (Luckily I took the half bowl!)
Forgot to mention, the half bowl of ramen which I ordered did not have any flavoured egg in it. I ordered one separately,
found it irresistible (the runny yolk!) and decided to add on another. Even the bowl had the 'nan' (male) word slowly
revealing itself as I drank up the soup. I would want to go back to Ramen Champion again to try out the ramens from
other outlets.

Soup Guru Smile Aug 12, 2012

My Pumpkin Rice ($1.50) that went with a bowl of Ginko Pork Tripe Pepper Soup ($5.50). The rice was really tasty by itself and I could have easily gobbled up 2 bowls. Traces of pumpkin and dried shrimps could be found in the rice. The soup was peppery and spicy! Perfect choice during a rainy day when you wanted to sweat it out. Those ingredients were definitely not my liking as I ordered it just for the peppery soup. They were too chewy and weird for me to handle! I tried dipping the ingredients into dark sauce and they tasted much better. Continuously dipping them made the dark sauce diluted as soup kept dripping in. I don't mind going back again to try out other soup variety. (A good news for soup lovers like me because the soup was refillable!)

Secret Recipe Cakes Cry Aug 12, 2012

Ocf decided to try a slice of mango delight as dessert. Same as our meals, the desserts were served on white plates
which gave us the impression that hawker food was served on disposable paper plates. The cake was really
disappointing because of the plain sponge, plenty of cream and few pathetic slices of mango within.
As for me, having known that their chocolate banana cake is popular, I decided to try out its new chocolate strawberry
cake. I realised that all their cakes actually looked really horrible, messy and unevenly textured. Presentation wise would
definitely fail. As for the taste, I felt that it was a mismatch and was not as good as the chocolate banana. The surface
(chocolate part) of the chocolate cake was sticky and I totally got sicked of the cake after eating halfway. (I did not finish
it!)
