Chicken cutlet Smile Aug 31, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Food Court

I ordered XXL chicken set A at price of $3, and it came along with 1 mini Taiwan sausage, vegetable in dark braised sauce, 1 braised hard boil egg, 1 chicken culet and rice. I am not a fan of Taiwan sausage therefore the aunty replaced it with another egg. The XXL chicken culet is even better than some I've eaten outside. It is freshly fried, crispy with some seasoning powder and chilli powder sprinkled on it. For $3, it's quite worth it as there's so many things in one set to try! There's also other similar set meals available as well.

1 for 1 Smile Jun 24, 2013

Every Wednesday at SP starbucks, it's 1 for 1! But you have to buy the largest cup, which is the venti size. The queue was really long, but the staff were very efficient. Both counters were opened up and the queue were moving rather fast despite being really long. There were about 5 staff working that day, 2 at the counter, and another 3 making the drinks. The 1 for 1 was really worth it! My friend and I paid $8 for 2 venti-sized drinks! We got mocha cookie crumble by the way, one with whipped cream and another without. We really like the drink a lot as it tastes a lot like oreo milkshake but with coffee! smile

Pancakes!  Smile Jan 10, 2013

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes

First time to Little Pancakes after hearing many good reviews about it, decided to head there one saturday at noon time. There werent too many people for a saturday noon though. The staff were all friendly and greeted us the moment we stepped in. Remember to head over to the counter to order! Complimentary glasses of water are provided at the side for self service. The whole place was cosy and it's a good place to hang out with your friends.

Ordered Going Nutella for You ($8.20) and All Day Breakfast ($10.90) and a drink (Apple Yakult Love $3.7). The drink was too sour for my liking, probably due to the yakult and apple mixture. Although I'm not a big fan of sweet stuff, going nutella for you was surprisingly good. Pancakes with chocolate might make you feel full after awhile, but the smaller pancakes made the whole meal very satisfying. Smaller pancakes means we won't feel that full even after a few bites, unlike bigger pancakes. The only downside was the ice cream, it was like ice when it came and when I'm halfway through my meal, it melted and I didn't get to eat much of it.

Highlight of our meal had to be the all day breakfast. The sausages are soft and chewy, pancakes are fluffy, and they both tasted so good together with scrambled eggs in between. And the potato salad taste really good as well! Although it's pricier than the rest, it’s a MUST TRY!!!

Perhaps a plate of pancakes might not be filling for one person, but it's great as a form of dessert or maybe brunch! The food is nice, the prices are reasonable, I will surely go back again for more!

Recommended Dish(es):  All Day Breakfast

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)

Strawberry strudel Smile Aug 25, 2013

Categories : Bakery

This shop has been around for a long time but it's my first time dining in, instead of takeaway. For a change, I had strawberry strudel ($5.60) to share with my friend. It's quite a huge slice, and instead of the usual apple cubes, this one was strawberry halfs! The sweetness of the cream and the sourness of the strawberries make a good combination, pretty much like the apple strudel. The downside is that it's quite hard to eat it without the strawberries squeezing out whenever I tried to cut into the strudel. The crust is really crunchy and flaky, as such, it's quite a mess eating it. Nevertheless, it's still a good eat! Good to share, because it's a really big slice for $5.60!

There are not many seats inside as the shop is small, so you might have to sit outside. You have to order inside and they will send the strudels to you!

Buffet Smile Aug 11, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Seafood | Buffet

After seeing the super wide range of food on the website, plus hearing good feedback from my friends, we decided to give Buffet Town a go! Alas, it’s too popular because it’s really affordable if you eat a lot of those expensive seafood items. My friend called up on Tuesday but the reservations were full! And there’s only places for 30 walk-in customers. So my friend went to start queueing at 5.30pm and managed to be the 14th person. Walk-ins start at 6.15pm, reservations at 6pm.

I can’t remember what this station was called, but you pick the amount of meat you want (fish, pork, chicken) and ask the person to stir fry it. IT’S SUPER DUPER NICE. Especially the dory. Succulent! Similarly for the vegetables, you choose how much you want and they will stir fry it for you. I didn’t know they will stir fry with garlic, I’m not a huge fan of garlic, but I still ate it because it’s so good! LOVE THIS STATION THE MOST. Wanted to go for a second round but my stomach was really full and there’s still a lot I haven’t tried.

We attacked the crab after that. I was a little disappointed that the portion was rather small, because they were serving the leg part of the crab only, not the full crab. They have chilli crab and black pepper crab. The chilli crab was too spicy for me (my tolerance is not very high) but the black pepper one was great! We also ate probably 14 prawns or more. The prawns were fresh, so it was really nice. And it was really thoughtful of buffet town to have placed the lemon water on our table before we even sat down so we can dip our hands into it after deshelling the crab and prawns.

We went to walk around after that, trying to take in the amount of food they have as well as checking out the varieties. I was zooming in on laksa whereas my friend was aiming for the curry chicken which we took very long to find. We thought it’s at some station and we have to go ask for it, but turns out it’s with all the cooked dishes at the thai section, that’s just right next to where we were sitting.

Another section of the buffet worth commenting about is the coffee section! I feel so happy to see this section! It looks just like a real coffee shop! And I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted because I wanted to try all. In the end we ordered a kopi c! As there were only hot drinks here, we took a cup with ice and poured the hot coffee over the ice. Another item to try is the soya beancurd (really smooth and silky, it rolls down your throat) and the soya bean drink (as recommended by my friend but I didn’t try).

I did not try the dessert section as I was really full and couldn't take in any more food in my stomach. I saw one dessert which looks quite nice, something like oreo flavoured cake. My friend who went to have desserts said there wasn't any more of that at around 9.20pm.

Overall, I think the buffet is really value for money, especially if you like sashimi a lot, you can just keep going to the station to take. They have different types of cuisine; Thai, western, Chinese and Japanese etc. There's really too much food to write about but the ones I've written are those that are worth giving it a try. One tip is that, it is not possible to finish trying all the food, so just zoom in on the more worth it, more expensive food and the ones that you think is really nice. And also, if you really want to go for the buffet and don't mind waiting, you can try waiting until 7plus-8plus because that's when some people already start to leave.

Verdict: Good variety of food, value for money, efficient staff (they cleared our plates extremely fast to the extent some people were quite annoyed!), quality of food is quite good! I can't find any fault for this buffet at all.

PS: Sorry if I didn't provide pictures for some of the food I mentioned, limited to 12 photos for this review only!
