Overrated chicken Smile Jul 26, 2012

Cocotte is located at the lobby of Wanderlust. Decor was pretty quirky with retro furniture lying around. Came here because of the much raved about roast chicken. Yeah much raved about and expensive chicken from France. Overall i think this place is overrated, not worth the price and sadly the chicken is good but still really not worth it. Ahhh I cant remember the exact price, kept it at the back of my head. Do not misunderstand me, it is not bad, but well... it is still just a chicken. Chicken breast is still kinda dry and the marinate a little too salty.

Anyway this is the complimentry bread

I love chicken Smile Jul 26, 2012

Heard good reviews about this place, so here I am to try it out. I like the concept, pay a price and you can pile as much food as you want on a plate. I chose a quarter chicken, the dark side. It was crispy and tender at the same time. Pretty well marinated too. But unfortunately it was not warm enough, wish they had it warm up before serving it.
For the rest of the sides, well you could pile as much as you want, as long as you can finish it. So anyway here is what i pile on my plate. Despite the quantity, i think it is quite a nutritious meal

Comforting and unique Smile Jul 26, 2012

Comforting and unique Japanese tomato-based steamboat. Very good, in fact i like it so much i actually went back to Ichibantei within the week! The broth is made up of tomato and pork bone. Very tasty and nutritious. If i didnt remember wrongly, this nabe was about $38 enough to feed 2 people with 2 bowls of rice. We had a choice between beef and pork, we chose the beef slices and it was very good! Wish they had given us more beef though. Besides beef slices, there were plenty of vegetables in the pot! Comforting on a rainy day

Cheap and good! Smile Jul 26, 2012

Good and cheap and retro, hmmm but is it close? has it moved somewhere? Ahhh it will be quite sad if its is close. This restaurant has been around for many many years. They serve cheap, good hainanese style western food. The cook and waiting staff looks like they have been working in this restaurant for many years. And many of them are hainanese. So i feel that it would be a pity if this restaurant closes down. This restaurant in itself is a heritage!

Anyway on to the food, this is the lovely T-bone steak! Nice medium rare steak at less than $20! Value for money!

Multi sensory experience Smile Jul 26, 2012

Coming to Paradise dynasty is indeed a mult-sensory experience. Great food and pretty delicate.
The multi sensory experience starts off with the beautiful and colourful Xiao Long Bao. Not all of them are equally good but well, tasting the unqiue flavours such as cheese xiao long bao and foie gras xiao long bao is an unique experience in itself.

The next dish of scramble egg white with egg yolk was also a pretty dish pretty to look at, pretty pleasing to the taste buds.

Chicken feet with seafood. The chicken feet was good and QQ! just the way i like it.

The very tasty la mian soup, concocted from the signature pork bone soup broth. The soup is dense due to the high content of protein and collagen. I feel younger just eating it! Apparently the soup has been simmered for in slow fire for 12 hours. Slow boiling it reduced the initial soup content from 30kg to 8 kg to bring out the essence of the soup! How can you not say this is DElicious!
