Lunch break Smile Sep 22, 2013

Coming here without a decision on what to eat is my biggest nightmare.
Cheong Chin Nam Road is a stretch full of different cuisines. We're quite the epitome of melting pot when it comes to food offerings.

And so I decided to walk in at No. 10 for Soup Master and XO Chicken Pot. They had two special promotions on a separate menu. Either the sesame oil chicken with noodles or rice. Or the Braised pork rice.

Guess which one I picked?

At just $3.80 on promotion (add a dollar for the usual price), this was surprisingly generous.

Or perhaps it's just the many different toppings on the rice that made it seem so.

Half a hardboiled egg, braised tofu puff, stewed peanuts, salted vegetable ends and braised pork of course.

The peanuts had a sticky sweet sauce that I didn't fancy much.

But otherwise, I loved my deliciously satisfying lunch choice.

Department of caffeine: I'm definitely in for a good coffee fix. smile

What a generously large cuppa. My flat white with a pretty leaf latte art. I love my milk foam that makes everything so creamy. I'm long gone from the days of sugar in my coffee. Although i still drink the sugared ones at Starbucks and Coffee Bean. $5

And a slice of an amazingly moist carrot cake covered generously with cream cheese icing. It's a toss up between cheesecake and carrot cake. These days, let's go a little more waistline conscience. Carrot cake me anytime. Cream cheese frosting always welcome. smile

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Tea)

Hello brownie. :) Smile Sep 18, 2013

This was a brownie with ice cream search at 10pm. So coffee bean has brownies. Oriole has no brownies. Cold rock has ice cream but... and that brings us to Seventh Heaven.

These guys have moved from their previous location in the clouds to level 2 and occupying a much smaller space.

But they have! Brownie and ice cream. smile

There's a massive choice for ice cream flavours here including this one that looked like bubblegum pop. might've been called cotton candy or something. I chose cookies and cream.

The ice cream was a perfect cookie crunch with lush creamy vanilla love for my warm brownie base. The brownie base was thick and chocolatey rich, and chocolate drizzles for me to drag my brownie pieces in topped with whipped cream.

Yes i know that's all FAT, but it's happy fats!

We love ichiban Smile Sep 18, 2013   (Related Review)

We really do. There's a bunch of us girlfriends with a chat group called Ichiban girlfriends. Whatever the initial plan might be to attempt to try this new place or that, we're always happy to fall back on plan B which of course, is Ichiban. smile

Just a simple dinner with comfort food that always manages to deliver with consistent standards.

we got the pumpkin croquette and to replace salmon skin, we had potato croquette this time too. smile
the interior of these potato had these orange bits that look like carrot. a delicious mash coated in panko and deep fried, it's a lot of yum. i never figured out why one cost double the price of the other though. potato comes in a single serving while the pumpkin comes in a pair and they cost $2.40 each.

more fried items with the karaage at $8.90 if my memory doesn't serve me wrong. delicious pieces of chicken. and chicken skin. perfect with japanese mayonnaise as a dip. delicious!

And this premium plate of tamago. the tamago was soft and fluffy with its layers. this needs a dab of wasabi for added oomph. smile

Loving our ichiban dinner date.

Flat white and a truffled fry. Smile Sep 18, 2013

Categories : Bakery | Café | Brunch

Sadly, stranger's reunion wasn't open and we missed it yet again on our cafe hunt. Of course, there's always forty hands. smile

Certified fair trade coffee beans in my favourite flat white.

and a pretty latte art to boot. The taste of their flat white is distinctly different from their latte and that was something I really appreciate. a flat white has less milk than a latte and that foam which gives it a creamier taste. and that was exactly what I was served!

Of course what better snack than truffle fries?
I say truffled fries because the one I had was overwhelmingly truffled. Mmm yum.

But that was a problem because the truffle oil was really not well mixed. I had a fry that tasted entirely normal. Plain fries really.
