After a mad fun run at fort canning, we wanted to head to song fa bak kut teh but the queue was just a nightmare. even if two stores just a stone's throw away from each other. and this was at 8pm at night. we weren't about to wait.

Someone then suggested Saizeriya over at liang court. it's been a long time since I've last stepped into Saizeriya so why not then? I made an order for a pecorino pork pasta. or so i thought.

This was just garlic bacon pasta though.

Which i topped with tonnes of cheese powder. made it too dry with my cheese but I loved it anyway. The bacon was fragrant in garlic and the pasta soaked up the pork flavour from the fatty rinds. Eat with a dash of tabasco and chilli flakes for some heat.

This wasn't a flattering picture of my satisfying ice cream hangout. I haven't had ice cream on waffles for the longest time and coincidentally, i haven't had dinner.

What else could be a perfect reason right?a double scoop of matcha and double chocolate on waffles please and i'd like chocolate sauce on the side.

The matcha was full on green tea fragrance and taste. Not too strong that it's bitter. Not too creamy that makes it lose it's taste. Loving the double chocolate too. The waffle was yummy hot but it's not dense enough to have enough bite.

That's a lot of indulgence in one night.

This was an early dinner break at newton circus.

Had a craving for prawn noodles. less the noodles. more the prawn broth.

So of course, this was what I ordered.A generous serving of raw beansprouts reminded me of a bowl of pho.

Although I appreciated my serving of veggies, the raw taste of the beansprouts muted the taste of the broth.

This was an order for pork ribs. Although the pieces of pork seemed substantial, some had too much fat/ tendons that it made it hard for me to bite.

The broth was sweet and light. But apparently, I hear the broth gets thicker as the night goes on.

So maybe it's best you do a supper run instead.

Was this the same store as the one in Toa Payoh market?

I decided to give it a try. There was after all, a queue. Typical Singaporean behaviour.

Skipped my usual ban mian and went for their sheng mian, dry. The three people in front of me all made orders for this.

So.. was it worth the leap of faith?For $3, this was a substantial bowl of noodles. their mix of chilli sauce was a good flavour burst for the noodles. What I didn't like though, was their use of dark sauce that overwhelmed everything else and if you mixed it through, it'd make for a really unappetizing bowl of noodles.

Their noodles had a springy texture with a lot of bite. And i loved that they had prawns too. But this wasn't the same as the taste of the stall at toa payoh. I didn't want to ask though, seeing as how long the queue was.

The soup though, was what the noodles were cooked in and that was a bowl of alkali tasting starchy bowl of soup. skip that.

I'll be back to try out their ban mian.

there's hardly a queue at this branch of MOF unlike the outlet in bugis junction. i guess between ichiban and this, it's more value for money to be dining at ichiban which also offers a wider variety of food choices.

but here I am for dessert with my girlfriends. it's a post ichiban dinner dessert time!

as if on cue, we both decided on the matcha imo. $8.80 ++

vanilla soft serve ice cream drizzled with matcha syrup accompanied with a side of azuki and fried sweet potato that I can never get enough of. $8.80 ++

and because another one of us wanted some sesame ice cream, we made an order for a sesame sundae with kanten jelly in brown sugar syrup and erm. cornflakes? that was a lil weird if you ask me. where are my strawberries? it was strange to see my jap dessert served with watermelon slices. Thankfully, their ice cream saved the day. black sesame had the distinct fragrance of sesame and their vanilla soft serve was drizzled with a thick sesame sauce that had the gritty taste of sesame seeds.

They are now having promotions with standard chartered cards for ten per cent off ala carte orders if you aren't yet an MOF member.
