Tim Sum OK Jun 18, 2012
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Dim Sum

My friends and I ordered some tim sum and shared. We had the usual siew mai and har gow (shrimp dumplings). The har gow's transparent skin was a little thick but the shrimp inside was succulent and fresh. The siew mai was not overly sticky or wet with the usual ingredients like pork and mushroom inside. All the pieces were not really big. The tim sum was not exceptionally good or bad, enough if you just feel like having some without having to travel far for the better ones. chopstick

Tau Suan  OK Jun 18, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

I had a takeaway for this bowl of tau suan. The container was small, and it was not filled to the brim. The tau suan was quite sticky and gluey. The beans were broken up. The you tiao were thrown inside, not packed separately so they were already quite mushy when I brought it home. It was not the best tau suan I have had, but it was still eatable. Will try their other desserts like the black sesame paste the next time!

Icy Soya with pearls Smile Jun 18, 2012

A very healthy drink to cool yourself down from the terrible heat these days- ice blended soya milk with pearls! Although the soya milk has been slightly diluted by the ice, I still enjoy this drink from Mr Bean. Firstly, it is healthier than having a cup of milk tea because soya milk is supposedly less fattening and most importantly, they serve it with pearls, which is perfect because I enjoy my drinks with pearls. smile Towards the end, there were some chunks of ice, not blended well! Nevertheless, the drink really cooled me down.

Cheap vegetarian bee hoon OK Jun 18, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Hawker Centre | Vegetarian

For just two dollars, the aunty piles your plate with lots of food- noodles, zhai er (fried beancurd thing), two kinds of mock meat and vegetables. She serves very quickly but your plate of food turns out very messy! It looks really appetising especially with the crispy zhai er at the top, however, the bee hoon and the the ingredients were quite bland. I think there wasn't enough gravy sauce over, but I guess it was healthier. There was so much mock meat given that I could not finish them all. I really enjoyed the zhai er, they were really crispy and yummy. And, the aunty is really generous with the serving too- two large pieces! A really great meal if you're feeling healthy and hungry!! chopstick

Strawberry juice/ milkshake OK Jun 18, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Juices | Kids-Friendly

There was quite a long queue, waiting to get my juice from this stall. I think its because this is the only fruit juice stall in the market, so everyone just swarmed here. Most of their fruit juices are priced at two dollars, ranging from carrot to watermelon. I wanted to get sugarcane but it was sold out by the time I was there so I settled for strawberry juice/ milkshake instead. The milkshake was well blended, there were no coarse pieces of ice at all. It was not too sweet or milky. The strawberry tasted stronger than everything else. I don't think they used fresh strawberries, I think I saw them putting in strawberry jam, but it was still as good! smile
