Dozo Smile Jul 06, 2013

I wanted to dine in somewhere with a fine dining environment yet nothing on western, and so I decided to bring my partner over to Dozo after hearing some good recommendation from my food explorer friends. Dozo pledged themselves as a Japanese Fine Dining experience and I can totally see why the moment I step in to the restaurant. The interior of the place is so exquisite looking! Thank god we are dressed to our best and not in slippers and shorts lol

I had the Beef Tenderloin on Hot Stone and the presentation of it scored an Ace to me. The hard work from the chef pays off as not only it looks pretty, it taste awesome as well. The beef tenderloin is soft and not chewy, done-ness of it is pretty well obtained. The hot stone doesn't overcooked the beef at all and you will know the chef grabs hold of the timing well. It does cost a bomb dining here but for the quality of the food, I wouldn't mind going back at all next time.

Tunglok's My Humble House Smile Jun 03, 2013

The dessert served here is definitely a must try, in my opinion. I had the "Chilled Cream of Japanese Tapioca with Coconut Ice Cream" and it has definitely scored a perfect full marks in my food dictionary. Firstly, the presentation. Almost everyone on my table took out their phones to snap the beautiful art piece in front of us. The color (purple and white, with pinch of green mint) blended so well together that honestly speaking, I couldn't bear to dig' in if not for the melting coconut ice cream. Next up, the taste. I don't usually fancy very sweet dessert but for this, the sweetness is just nice, not too sweet not bland. The coconut ice is very flavorful and I won't be surprise if it is made by the chef from scratch. Blending very well with the purple Japanese tapioca cream, the dish marks a perfect ending of the meal that day. Excellent!

Oden Smile May 22, 2013

Chanced upon this restaurant and by seeing mostly native Japanese customers, I thought to myself that it will not go wrong since the Japanese themselves are patronizing this place. As I wasn't feeling hungry then, I opted to order their Oden-oden, something which is like our Chinese version of Yong Tau Foo. I was surprised with the portion given as I initially thought that there will be just a few pieces of oden inside. The soup is heavenly, definitely the best I had so far after trying out so many places. No MSG, sweetness came from the original ingredients used to boil together with the soup. A very comforty food for me.

ICE CREAM! Smile May 02, 2013

It's a pity that most of the Seventh Heaven's bistro had closed down due to high competition (i think?) as I really like their ice cream compare to the others ice cream selling out there. To me I always like how Seventh Heaven ice tasted - not too sweet and it was just nice. Their flavors of the ice cream is really well selected too, not too "weird" and create for the sake of creating to match how other ice cream parlor is coming out. I also like how they portray their ice cream image - very atas looking by at a affordable price. When I get to know that they have open their parlor at Garden By the Bay, I decided to visit them again for their awesome ice cream. We ordered quite a few flavors to share - mini chocolate, rum and raisin, lychee martini, rocky road, chocolate, passion fruit, dark cherries & merlot. They are all so awesome and I am glad that the standard is still there. The ice cream is really flavorful and addicted that if not for the sinful feeling, I would have gotten myself another round of it. If you are a fan of ice cream, you should really go and try their ice cream!

Mad! Smile Jul 25, 2013

the moment I stepped in to the restaurant I know this is gonna be the place I like a lot. the restaurant breaks into a few part for its customer, such aa there's a bar counter, a bakery, a chef counter table top and etc. anyway I ordered the wagyu beef claypot rice after hearing the friendly waiter recommendation. it was indeed a good recommendation as the dish tasted very nice! not like normal claypot rice we had outside, the one that is sold at MAD is a little bit more atas, with generous amount of wagyu beef slices done with perfection and a soft boil egg to mix with the rice to make it more smooth and flavorful. there's also truffle oil use to make the whole dish more seductive!
