Bland dessert Cry Jul 28, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Desserts and Cakes

Dessert was settled at the dessert stall in plaza sing's kopitiam. ordered the ice jelly with aloe vera and there's only one word to describe it - tasteless. I guess the stall people forgotten to add the sugar syrup on the shaved ice because all I can taste is ice and ice water. no sweetness at all. squeeze the lime in and it become sour lime water. the ice jelly itself is tasteless and bland too. the only sweetness comes from the aloe Vera bits but too bad the portion is too little to sweeten the whole thing. a very bad dessert indeed.

Crystal jade xiao long bao Cry Jul 22, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Shanghainese | Dim Sum | Noodles

Xiao long bao is one of the dishes I will order when I visit Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. However I am not sure if I will continue to so so after this time. The standard used to be quite high and I enjoy myself a lot with the Xiao Long Bao but now I feel that the standard fell by quite a fair bit. The fillings inside are dry and what used to be dripping hot "soup" in the Xiao Long Bao has been replaced but a few drops of oil. The skin is not as thin as before and the meat is mushy and tasted stale. A very disappointing meal I must say.

Diminishing quality Cry Jul 19, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Kids-Friendly

I remember I used to frequent Han's quite often for their affordable set meals. I went back again to have their Mushroom Sauce Chicken Chop Set meal, which comes with bread and soup and a daily dessert. Over the years I think their portion had shrunk, even with the set meal it still wasn't as filling. The mushroom soup was diluted and the mushroom taste is quite faint. The chicken chop itself is ok but the piece of meat is too small. The dessert too didn't impress much.

Ya Kun Toast Cry Jul 19, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

I decided to have a late night supper at Changi Airport's Ya Kun toast since this is a 24-hour branch. The shop is quite empty and only a few other night owls is there to have their supper too. I ordered their Signature Toast Bread Set which comes with kaya toast, soft boiled egg and a drink. I was a bit disappointed with the toast because even though it is served from the grill, the toast is not hot and crispy. In fact, it tasted soft and a bit cold, definitely not up to their usual standard. The soft boiled egg is quite raw too. I hope they can improve their standard as this is a branch where many tourists will frequently visit.

Crystal Jade Cry Jun 30, 2013

Categories : Shanghainese | Restaurant | Noodles

As we were craving for some dim sum dishes and was surprise that crystal jade not only have their usual xiao long bao and la mian, they also included some dim sum dishes in their menu. We decided to check that out and ordered my favorite har gow and siew mai. Oh well. Both dim sum tasted very normal and at the price of it selling in the restaurant, I could have something which taste similar at the nearby kopitiam and it's 50% cheaper. Not going to order their dim sum anymore and shall just stick to their la mian next time.
