ambushed at ambush OK Mar 14, 2013

Categories : European | Pasta | Paella

How would you like to describe your dining experience at ambush? I would say... hmmm i felt ambushed..

Ok all jokes aside, i actually had a great time with one of my distant relative and hearing that OpenRice actually had a food tasting there made me wanna try it even more.

We had meatballs with brown sauce and fries as a starter. Hmm meatballs... interesting tastes... the meatballs was a little dry due to the nature of it but was complimented by the brown sauce... We had additional brown sauce to let the flavor sink in.. It was served on a bowl with the brown sauce and also a side dish of straight cut french fries...

I had the squid ink pasta with the fish eggs and scallops... Hmm very very interesting taste... A little bit fishy to me but i guess it was really ok for me... It was a slight hint of cream flavor nostalgia. Hmm i also don't know what i am talking about but roughly it was ok to me... I dont really like stuff thats too funky... My teeth was a little black as expected but i guess it was quite good.

She had the ambush paella... hmm really not too bad... scallops, mussels, clams, prawns served on a tomato risotto... quite good... tomato puree base a bit too strong but manageable.

I had no beverages but she did... quite good... the apricot beer or something like that... well that is according to her.

The service was quite good... at that hour around 9.. really good and fantastic customer service... there some room for improvement though but i have no complains.

Well thats all i think that was quite worth there...

My 2nd home back in the day! OK Mar 12, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Western | Café | Pasta

Back in the day when i was still an innocent student.. (ehem) this place would be my 2nd home. Get this... when i was enrolled in RP... i was only the 4th batch... they didnt have this cafe when i was in year 1. This cafe came out in year 2.

According to the reviews that i saw... i think it definitely changed. They were much friendlier back in the day..

I was in the percussion ensemble 3rd batch and i saw many many changes in the school and when practice ended around 9pm.. i could get my fries or cheese wedges...

What i used to order was the japanese curry rice set... It was japanese curry chicken... slightly sweet... and spicy... fried chicken... wedges and iced milk tea... simply soothing and sinful...

What i loved most about this cafe was the bbq sauce... i kid you not this runs out fast.. or at least it used to...

The service was excellent and the staff was fantastic.. I went back there around november and realised that yeah it may have changed a little but i am guessing that it has become ok only...

I remember when they first proposed the plan of art bites @trcc. .. The aim was to let students showcase their talents on a small stage that was available. I have yet to see any of it as a hardcore arts fan....

New drink at starbucks OK Mar 06, 2013

Categories : American | Coffee

What do you think of when you thinking of coffee? Give yourselves 20 secs to think about it...

Ok.. so here we go.. i usually dont comment about drinks but i felt like i needed to do so.

You see here... If a man cannot fish... will you teach him how to or give him a fish? Its the same concept here.

I tried the new dolce vito frappacino or something like that...

The Barista recommended me this drink but i was a little hesitant as because certain things im quite particular. Coffee is one of them. I ordered a grande anyways and luckily it was just nice. It was quite ok..

Double shot expresso with milk and brown whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles with it.

At first taste..... oooooorhhhhhhh damn this is sweet but upon mixing the entire drink... It was quite bitter and a little strong... Completely overwhelming.... strong and quite ok... not fantastic but still quite ok...

Recommended for people who wanna take the risk.. its yours...

FEED ME MORE!!!! OK Feb 15, 2013

FEED ME MORE!!! FEED ME MORE!!! FEED ME MORE!!!!

Feed me more is not the way you have your meals... its a lifestyle...

For me... that was lacking a bit on this area.

Last week, i met my army friends to dine at Applebee's diner. I would say this... For an american restaurant.. it is not really up to standards. they do have american cuisine and i do respect that... The portions can be a little bit bigger. For instance, i had the appetizer sampler. It came with buffalo wings, cheese sticks, some green mozzarella thing and quaesadilla.. If you were to get that for snacks... i suggest dont waste your money... however due to good deals!!! It was half priced.. If you go there during lunch time from 2-630 or something like that on weekdays you can get selected appetizers for half priced... we paid 11 bucks or something for the dish.

There was also the one for one happy hour promotion for alcohol... You have to pay for the higher price... my friend ordered the wine cool mixer thing and i got a Margarita. The wine cooler mixer came in a big glass and was not very good... The margarita was served in a mixer shaker with the strainer.. Fantastic presentation.

The entrees were then served with the magically placed plate put in front of me. The burger was ok... could have been more but i was full as i had the appetizer, the drinks and now the entree.

My recommendation is that if you have a budget.. dont come here, however if you dont... you will have to tell the server to FEED! ME! MORE!!!

The service was pretty much ok although they could pay more attention. The front concierge to the restaurant could be better as i spoke to her in english she ignored me and spoke to my friends who were chinese.

Only one thing i could say to that.... DAMN!!

Only average OK Jan 25, 2013

After a concert at Serangoon JC we were thinking of what to eat as it was late brunch. So Cafe Cartel it is. When i think of this place.. I had a good impression. The meals prepared there are very different.

I went there for a date and clearly everything could be improved except the service.

Firstly, the menu was improved and changed but being too colorful i get confused. The menu was ok as it provided a different array of various dishes.

We shared meatballs in cheese served in a casserole bowl. Not too bad... the cheese was complimenting the meatballs.

I had of a plate of chicken sausage spaghetti. I am a very critical friend of pasta and it must be served nicely. This was ok and i had nothing to complain with. It was served with a bowl of soup.. 4 peuny pieces of bread and hot tea served then and there for an additional $3.90.

Secondly, we were both supposed to share a double scoop of ice cream but... they came in one scoop as the runner forgot the scooping so the manager gave us another scoop for free.

We were not too pleased with that but hey life goes on!

Overall dining experience 6/10
