Scooping the scoop from scoopz Smile Mar 18, 2013

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Last Friday night, i met my friend for dinner at the Roti Prata house for some food followed by a series of awesome events the whole night.

When guys meet out and enjoy themselves... they can have 2 things.... one is lots of beers! Another is to just simply chill and talk about army stories while having some dessert. This was exactly what i did that very night...

We each ordered a double scoop of ice-cream and had a wonderful chilling session while talking about our army days... I had the seasalt caramel ice cream and the peanut butter and jelly ice cream with no toppings... I am a sucker for ice cream because i dont usually eat that much ice cream but upon sampling the flavor of the ice cream... I finally thought that the seasalt was the one that i wanted and i would like to give it all for this..

A nice ambience though i wish they didnt have a sofa... Due to my size... i modified the sofa to a straight edge new nexus kind of chair... It was crazy.... but i have no complaints... A wonderful evening... I paid $5.20 for a double scoop at scoopz... Wow... simply Fantastic....

Singapore's special food Smile Jan 11, 2013

Chicken Rice! How much can we say about this? How much do you know about this?

Well for me i would say that this is the default singaporean food. If you do not know what to eat... chicken rice is the best local food you can enjoy be it a rainy weather or a hot weather!

I usually dine here every fortnight as i know that this place runs out of their roasted chicken really really fast. Try to get it at around 2 pm. it is really difficult.

Being a regualar here, this is what i usually order. $3.50 chicken rice with 3 packet of chili. Roasted chicken of course.

The rice is fragrant, fresh and sold out fast. The chicken is tasty and when you eat the chili with it, the spice will kick in and you will feel your tongue tingling. So i go about eating the rice until it finishes with one packet of chili. And because it is $3.50 the chicken portion is a lot more. The chicken is really awesome! Il pour 2 packets of ginger spicy flavored red chili and devour it!

The staff there are really friendly and they have a great service because once they see their customer, they know what they want! Simply awesome!

The ambience of whampoa hawker centre is that it is really warm but being a hawker centre. you cant expect much!

This place is so awesome such that i go back to this place everyday and i am greeted by the same friendly staff. I think that even after i try other thai food, this place draws me to come back and enjoy the awesome tastes of it.

I tried the fish tom yam soup with rice. Now this is simple but this tastes awesome! So it is all good! I will as usual add chili padi to my soup to ensure that my face sweats and turns red! My colleague also tries out his favorite dish which is the green curry with rice. What is more awesome... it is very cosy and homely.

Way to go ofira!!! Aiseh!!!!

Chicken Murtabak Smile Nov 30, 2012
Categories : Indian | Halal

Went to get myself a plate of good chicken murtabak for supper after my regular jamming sessions.

I was very pleased with the quality of murtabak this stall whips up. The dough is spread large, thick the inner skin is soft and chewy while the outer skin is crispy. The egg is spread out evenly across the murtabak, unlike some stalls which have the eggs concentrated on the center. The chicken meat is well-spiced and full of flavor. Tear out a handful of tasty murtabak, dip it in the piping hot fish curry, savour it in your mouth and after that, take a sip from a tall glass of Masala Tea and you will see the heavens smiling down on you.

Cafe Melba BRUNCH!!!!! Smile May 27, 2013

What an awesome day to end your awesome weekend before your new week at work.... My group of friends met up and we sat down and had brunch at Cafe Melba.

Along the roads of Mountbatten Road, Cafe Melba has one of the best dining brunches I have personally tried. However to get to this location, it is a little bit confusing but i promise you the trip is worth it. You have to alight at Mountbatten train station and would have to take exit B and upon which, walk on the path and you would head over the the Goodman Arts Centre located on the left hand side of the pavement.

We walked past the blocks with a reminiscence of nostalgia. The place looked as if I was in my Holding site in my primary school... Monks Hill Secondary School...

As we walked into the restaurant, I had the smell of the freshness of the coffee with the aroma greatly lingering in the bistro area. The alfresco area comprised of a high chair bar style concept along with the garden style low seat dining.

The menu consisted of a mixture of an American cuisine along with a classic Italian cuisine in which the variety of prices ranged from $8 to $100 over. They had a classic brunch menu in which you could ever imagine from steak and eggs to a proper classic breakfast.

I had the full Melba breakfast. A big oval plate filled with toast, a hash brown, eggs of your choice (scrambled, poached and over-easy), bacon, a bratwurst sausage, sauteed mushrooms and 2 lightly grilled cherry tomatoes. A small saucer of baked beans was also served along with the breakfast.

The food was delicious, as i ordered the poached eggs and i would expect a very high standard of poached eggs because if one restaurant or bistro can pull it off, it is incredibly tasty. I then ordered poached eggs and i placed it on top of my toast and drizzled the bacon oil and wow it was truly amazing. The yolk was oozing out properly and the bacon was perfect. I quickly tucked in my brunch and i was quite famished by the time the meal arrived.

I paid $25 for the entire meal of course i didn't order any alcoholic beverages to accompany me such that I would not have a weird taste in my mouth. Its breakfast but i would have alcohol if it was dinner.

They also have a fine selection of beers, ciders, wines and spirits for consumption apart from their juices, soft drinks etc.

The ambience of that place is perfect for a Sunday morning or afternoon where you would be able to bring your kids or your dogs to sit by the area and play. Such a beautiful place. Excellent service and lovely food. Be sure to drop by this place if you feel like having a good time with your family on a Sunday afternoon.
