Great Breakfast! Smile Jan 28, 2013

Squad watch your front! Squad Attention!

When i was a soldier a few months ago, i would visit this place twice a week to bring it to my camp as there was no canteen whatsoever. That would usually be an 'Ah Lau" selling chicken rice, duck rice, salted pancake, you tiao, teh, coffee, soya bean, nasi lemak chop chop curry pop and so on and so forth.

I would usually go to Mayson's bakery where they also sell Nasi Lemak! This place is packed in the morning. I would usually reach Boon Lay around 7:10 in the morning. It takes me 1 and a half hours to get here because back then they didnt really have the circle line so i have to change trains at Outram to Boon Lay!

So some mornings, il head over to Mayson and i will order Set B!

There are 2 sets here.

Set A- Nasi Lemak Rice with Chicken Wing and a sunny side up egg

Set B- Nasi Lemak Rice with fishcake, sausage and a sunny side up egg.

They also have other varieties such as Mee Hoon, Mee Goreng and Kway Teow.

Other than that they also serve drinks such as Kopi, Teh, Milo and more stuff.

So other than ordering these few stuffs, i would order other sides with it as well, for me i would add a stick of seaweed chicken. There are other stuff such as fried chicken breast, fishcake, otak otak etc and the list goes on.

The service staff there is quite fast as the queue is really really long! I cant imagine if they took their time! But they are really good!

The taste of this food is quite good! Very tasty but with the amount of monosodium glutamate that is added to the rice and the food, it will be too much and you will have to drink a lot of water!

Overall, if i would go back to this place if i am around this area.. else i wouldnt go all the way simply because it is too far!!!

After a concert at Serangoon JC we were thinking of what to eat as it was late brunch. So Cafe Cartel it is. When i think of this place.. I had a good impression. The meals prepared there are very different.

I went there for a date and clearly everything could be improved except the service.

Firstly, the menu was improved and changed but being too colorful i get confused. The menu was ok as it provided a different array of various dishes.

We shared meatballs in cheese served in a casserole bowl. Not too bad... the cheese was complimenting the meatballs.

I had of a plate of chicken sausage spaghetti. I am a very critical friend of pasta and it must be served nicely. This was ok and i had nothing to complain with. It was served with a bowl of soup.. 4 peuny pieces of bread and hot tea served then and there for an additional $3.90.

Secondly, we were both supposed to share a double scoop of ice cream but... they came in one scoop as the runner forgot the scooping so the manager gave us another scoop for free.

We were not too pleased with that but hey life goes on!

Overall dining experience 6/10

Uncle Sim is my friend! Smile Jan 16, 2013

Uncle Sim is my friend! Guess what happens when you do not know what to eat. When the coffee shops are closed and my favourite chicken rice stall is not open?

I go to Uncle Sim Home cooked Nonya food. If you are on a budget of $4 or less. This is an awesome place for you to eat. I would however recommend a ta pao. Nothing else can beat that as you have the comfort of sitting down at home and eating it nicely.

I usually would recommend the chicken sauce or the black pepper beef with less rice and an egg. This is really cheap. Something like $2.50. The other thing that would accompany me is the chili padi that i like. I find it super delicious as it brings out the flavors into everything else.

The stall is very fast moving so remember, for optimum dining pleasure... Order fast and think of what you want to get!

The staff are really busy but despite that... they can still remember your orders!

So remember, everything tastes sexier with chili padi!

Everytime i go to the top floor.. i ask myself.. who is Susan Chan?

I feel as though she is like a warrior of awesome dishes. Susan Chan warrior cook!

Ok to the main point.. i went there with some of my colleagues and was recommended this thing called the saled egg sauce fried chicken with rice... At first i was afraid.. i was petrified... as i did not want to try out much of this unusual stuff. But following my own instincts, i tried it anyways.

I was definitely not disappointed! They has some awesome stuff going on there. Forget the chicken first. The rice was fantastic! I mean you could taste the individual grain in its wholesome value!

Then comes the chicken and the sauce! It goes really well with the rice! I liked the slight tinge of sweet and salty!

Ambience: Very nice but busy!

Staff: Super friendly!

Singapore's special food Smile Jan 11, 2013

Chicken Rice! How much can we say about this? How much do you know about this?

Well for me i would say that this is the default singaporean food. If you do not know what to eat... chicken rice is the best local food you can enjoy be it a rainy weather or a hot weather!

I usually dine here every fortnight as i know that this place runs out of their roasted chicken really really fast. Try to get it at around 2 pm. it is really difficult.

Being a regualar here, this is what i usually order. $3.50 chicken rice with 3 packet of chili. Roasted chicken of course.

The rice is fragrant, fresh and sold out fast. The chicken is tasty and when you eat the chili with it, the spice will kick in and you will feel your tongue tingling. So i go about eating the rice until it finishes with one packet of chili. And because it is $3.50 the chicken portion is a lot more. The chicken is really awesome! Il pour 2 packets of ginger spicy flavored red chili and devour it!

The staff there are really friendly and they have a great service because once they see their customer, they know what they want! Simply awesome!

The ambience of whampoa hawker centre is that it is really warm but being a hawker centre. you cant expect much!
