Unorthodox but tasty OK Dec 17, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I am not a Japanese food lover because i simply dont really like that... But i tried something there that kinda changed my mind about japanese food. I mean the only thing i know about Jap food that is good is the Ramen. The one from Ajisen Ramen is really interesting as i like something spicy.

So heading to northpoint, i had no idea where to dine. My close friend introduced me to this place call Ishimura where i tried the omelet rice with the salmon and a mixture of mushrooms.

My reaction was " are u kidding" when the dish came. It was so little, i could laterally count the mushrooms and my index finger is longer than the salmon and it was covered in cream sauce.

However, when i tasted the dish, i had a change of mind! The omelet rice was quite averagely done but the salmon and the mushrooms went so well with each other such that they complemented each other! Wow!!! I was quite happy! The only problem was that i wasnt full and the worse part was that it was quite late so the shopping centre was about to close but luckily i had a bun earlier as that satisfied my hunger.

Ambience
The ambience was pretty good and as the Christmas season is in progress, Christmas carols were being played to suit the mood and as for the seating arrangement, the traditional Japanese chairs were used but for me being big sized, the ergonomics should be adjusted sometimes. I mean i rather sit on the stool.

Service

The lady that served us was ok but when i asked her if others were available, the response was monotonous. I have nothing to complain about. Il just be honest.

Conclusion

I think that it is best to go back there if you want cheaper Japanese food as you can find something decent for below $10. I probably will go back there.

Unorthodox but tasty!

Meatatarian Smile Dec 12, 2012

Sounds heavenly when you have just a load of meat on your plate?? Does it?? Well my answer for a ruthless carnivore.... ITS A HELL NO!!!! The result... a constipation for 2 days!!

Ok, its not that i dont like meat... Im just not a meatatarian... I like my vegetables! Green Veggies or anything vegetable like would be good to complement the meal with some greens... Unfortunately, only water and the main stuff was provided for the dinner. I wont complain about the water though but yeah.

Moving on, The beef was awesome medium done nice and juicy, chicken was nice... tender, the fish was great... i liked that the fish most... i mean eating lots of meat, i think that was nice!!

Ambience was good! Nice lounge music to accompany a dinner on a friday evening... The sound of the alto sax is extremely delightful.

Lastly, the staff was very friendly.. i remember this guy came to me.. "Arhh.. my fren... u come back i was looking for you! Here have some more"

Yeah... Carnivore is awesome when you have a decent mix of veggies to it!!!

Meatatarian out!!!

Breakfast in a pizza Smile Dec 06, 2012

Now where can you find Breakfast on thin crust pizzas??

You can try it here!!! Skinny Pizza is an awesome chill out spot to eat... I ordered the bacon egg and cheese pizza... Bacon and eggs... who can go wrong with that??? Cheese with pizza! Awesome combo... so you add the four elements of awesomeness we get a FIESTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The service staff are quite experienced as they were telling me about certain promotions that were going on! Thats professionalism... They served me ice water without any prompting which is a good intiative!

Furthermore, i think that they should have a bit more offers to choose from or something rather eclectic.

The only complain i have for that place is that the seats are too uncomfortable... Despite my size... it is too small for some people to sit and i am talking about the normal guys!!! Ok well... i guess they should have more booth seats!!!

Upon payment, i received a 10% voucher which is valid for POSB or DBS debit cards.

Skinny pizza FTW!

Thai Food Smile Dec 06, 2012   (Related Review)

This place is so awesome such that i go back to this place everyday and i am greeted by the same friendly staff. I think that even after i try other thai food, this place draws me to come back and enjoy the awesome tastes of it.

I tried the fish tom yam soup with rice. Now this is simple but this tastes awesome! So it is all good! I will as usual add chili padi to my soup to ensure that my face sweats and turns red! My colleague also tries out his favorite dish which is the green curry with rice. What is more awesome... it is very cosy and homely.

Way to go ofira!!! Aiseh!!!!

Nasi Ayam Penyet Smile Nov 30, 2012
Categories : Indonesian

Went to get a plate of Nasi Ayam Penyet for lunch at Lucky Plaza.

The rice is flavourful, tasty, a perfect balance between ginger and chicken stock. The chicken is smashed at the right places, soft, well-seasoned, only slightly too oily for my liking. The main highlight of this dish would be the sambal. It is spicy, tangy, sweet with a hint of lime. Me, being a spicy food lover, would take a full scoop of chilli and stir it around my chicken. If you cannot take spicy food though, please do not imitate me.
