Unorthodox but tasty OK Dec 17, 2012   (Related Review)

I am not a Japanese food lover because i simply dont really like that... But i tried something there that kinda changed my mind about japanese food. I mean the only thing i know about Jap food that is good is the Ramen. The one from Ajisen Ramen is really interesting as i like something spicy.

So heading to northpoint, i had no idea where to dine. My close friend introduced me to this place call Ishimura where i tried the omelet rice with the salmon and a mixture of mushrooms.

My reaction was " are u kidding" when the dish came. It was so little, i could laterally count the mushrooms and my index finger is longer than the salmon and it was covered in cream sauce.

However, when i tasted the dish, i had a change of mind! The omelet rice was quite averagely done but the salmon and the mushrooms went so well with each other such that they complemented each other! Wow!!! I was quite happy! The only problem was that i wasnt full and the worse part was that it was quite late so the shopping centre was about to close but luckily i had a bun earlier as that satisfied my hunger.

Ambience
The ambience was pretty good and as the Christmas season is in progress, Christmas carols were being played to suit the mood and as for the seating arrangement, the traditional Japanese chairs were used but for me being big sized, the ergonomics should be adjusted sometimes. I mean i rather sit on the stool.

Service

The lady that served us was ok but when i asked her if others were available, the response was monotonous. I have nothing to complain about. Il just be honest.

Conclusion

I think that it is best to go back there if you want cheaper Japanese food as you can find something decent for below $10. I probably will go back there.

Unorthodox but tasty!

Hot and cold at swensens OK Nov 30, 2012

Feeling low??? Dont be!! Swensens offers one of the greatest ice creams in singapore personally. Apart from that the dining options made available are wide and tasty.

I visited there after my first pay cheque and i was very happy so i decided to celebrate it at the place close to my place. I would consider this place 'atas' as i cant really afford it and probably wont go there if i had a chance to do so.

The service crew could be better as there was a customer who cut my que and was served first... I wasnt too happy and since i was in a good mood i didnt bother that much.

I had the mega burger... pretty big stuff!!! 2 buns, a giant beef patty, a slice of turkey ham, 1 slice of turkey bacon, 2 slices of eggplant and a fried egg... This burger takes skill!! You dont have skill too bad... your hands and face will be messy.. I never did it though.

My friend had crispy chicken... it was good and not very fantastic... I tasted a bit of it and i found it to be too oily.. not my kind of stuff.

The ambience was great... nothing fantastic but the dining chairs were comfortable as it was soft and comfy...

Will go back there again if im in the area.

Healthy and Guilt Free Smile Nov 25, 2013

Looking for something to snack on? Feeling hot and sweaty but you don't want to add calories to your current diet?

Brownice is the place to go for your cravings. Low in fat, low in sugar, very little calories, no milk, no eggs and more importantly vegetarian friendly.

There are a wide variety of flavours from your normal vanilla to interesting flavours such as banana oats and hazelnut coffee. A single scoop costs $3.80 which is something that i would normally purchase.

As you enter the store, the friendly staff are there to serve you with their great sense of customer satisfaction. THe interior decoration is as if you have entered heaven. White tables and chairs, nice level of music playing int he background to make the customers feel happy and whats best is that it is near my place!

I was recommended banana oat ice cream by my friend since i love the combination of both ingredients complimenting each other. It was slightly sweet but it had a strong essence of banana flavoured goodness in it. Truly amazing and absolutely delightful. The taste of the oats are very mild but it surely is an amazing complimentary ingredient.

Brownice also has other items to go with your ice cream such as waffles, brownies and a waffle flavoured cone to go along with your ice cream.

With every ice-cream store comes a water dispensing machine for consumers. Another selling point in this store is the refreshing goodness of "Kangen" water. This water is a type of mineral flavoured water and if i am not wrong, you can actually place an order for the machines. The taste of this water is truly distinct in such a way that you can actually taste the difference between the normal water this flavoured water.

Zhongshan Park Mall is located at Balestier Road and here are some instructions as to how to get there.

If you are coming by car, you can take
i) PIE and exit by Thomson Road and enter into Balestier Road.
ii) CTE and exit Moulmein Road and turn into Balestier Road.
Car parking is available at the Hotel or at the shopping centre itself

If you are taking the MRT, you can alight at Toa Payoh MRT and take Service Number SBS 139 or SBS 145

If you are taking the bus, you can take 21,130, 131, 139, 145 or 186

Fish and Chips at Nasrin Smile Jun 07, 2013

Categories : Middle Eastern/Mediterranean

When you have nothing to do and when you want to head on down to have a good chill with your good friends, this is exactly what you can do or rather choose to do for a good week night chill or a a good week end chill...

One of my childhood friends came down from the US and so we decided to go to have some food and smoke some Turkish pipe... We headed over to Nasrin to do both at the same time. This place is so big such that it has 2 separate locations within the vicinity. I could not help it but all i can say is that this place has a lot of pretty girls as well on a Saturday night of different races.

The staff at this place was allocated a section to take care of all the customers and see to their needs. However at times it can be annoying because they tend to forget your orders but so far i have no complains because i do understand how it works in a F&B establishment.

So having a night of fun, my friends and i settled down for an alfresco area at Nasrin with good sights and sounds of the Arab Street. A night of good laughs will not come without good food..

What we proceeded to do next was to actually order some food. This place for starters, do not serve alcohol so for those who want alcohol, another place will do good for your alcoholic fix. I ordered the fish and chips priced at 14.90, it is served with a mixed side salad, 3 pieces of juicy thin breadcrumb coated fish and a serving of french fries. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the better fish and chips i have tasted. Its either a hit or miss for some fish and chips as some of them serve it frozen but without a doubt this is served fresh, the salad was a bit disappointing because it did not have enough of variety. I am not so particular about the sauce because i chose a vinaigrette to accompany my salad. The fries were simple non salted and non crinkle cut. A simple dish for about $14.90.

They also have other items on the menu that provide a more middle eastern to a Turkish feel. Truly a palate that has to be tested with because of all their spices that are present in the dishes particularly in the Persian dishes...

Come here to try the dishes if you want an out of ordinary cuisine and dare to be different.
