When in doubt... have a pie! Smile Jan 11, 2013

If you are ever familiar with MIB 3 when the agent K tells Agent J something like. "My grandaddy told me when you're unsure about something.. you gotta have pie" when they have less than 24 hrs to save the world.

So to help myself, my colleague went over to Rochester mall for lunch and well i told him to bring me back some shepherds pie jokingly. I usually do this for fun and i don't really mean it most of the time.

Cut the long story short, i was presented with a nice container of shepherds pie, salad and mash potato. Being a big fan of this pie, i had very high expectations for the pie!

I wasn't disappointed, when i digged in to the pie, it wasn't that hot but i was simply loving it. It had some some chunks of chicken, mushrooms and damn it was good! I couldn't use another more interesting word other than orgasmic. It was simply one of the best things i have ever tried.

The mashed potatoes must be eaten with the pie because the sauce will simply blend in well with the pie. My mouth is watering as i think of this.

I would just like to thank my colleague for helping get through this doubtful moment and be undoubtful.

Steamboat for the steamy people Smile Dec 26, 2012

Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot | BBQ

What comes to mind when you hear about steam boat? I think of hot and spicy food!

Some people like it hot, some people like it mild but those people havent had a hot and steamy experience.

I am not joking when i say this!

Just across bugis junction lies a street of steam boats and when you walk all the way to the end, you will find one stall which sells BBQ and steam boat!

This is the one! It is so epic and tasty that i think sometimes hygiene plays a null factor.

There is a selection of meats in marinated sauce. My favorites are the Sausages with black pepper sauce, Beef slices, pork pieces and the fishball. I have a mixture of this on the grill as well as in the soup!

The soup is an essential part of steam boat right?? RIGHT! I like it with the malar soup in which i think it is the best of the best of the very best. Place some beef inside the hot soup drop it in.. take it out and let the flavors soak in and wow! Thats the awesome thing! The awesome tastes!!!

The staff there is not bad though sometimes they are very busy such that they forget about you!

The hygiene, well i would say one thing... Dont think about it... Just eat and enjoy!

The ambience is hot, sweaty and humid... However, thats the price to pay for the Steam Boat!!

Dont judge the book by its cover.. so dont judge the boat by its steam!

Half pot rice, half pot curry Smile Dec 24, 2012

This place is guaranteed to make you full! I promise! Indian food is damn awesome!

Here is a story of how i came to know this place. I was raised by my grandparents and they brought me here all the time when i was small. We usually had plain and paper thosai followed by some muruku. So tempting! I also had vadai which is some what like an indian donut with chili. this one does not have the prawn.

Ok so, what was for dinner one night after a longggggggg day at work? I ordered masala chicken with vegetables and some yogurt. I am not very fancied by all of this except the chicken and the rice. I paid 8.70 and believe me.. this is so worth it! A half pot of rice! followed by loads of curry and masal chicken. I could barely finish anything!

The masala chicken was playing a major riff in my mouth and the rice and curry added in the harmony and the solo was the masala tea! Damn this was delightful. I shit you not!

The service was extremely good because they were helpful and considering the closing time.. It was time for to go out into the world! Well not really... they served me with great service!

I have always been coming here for good indian food and i will always do!

Atas dining Smile Dec 21, 2012

So my friends and i decided to go to somewhere fancy since my friend is back from the US and we havent met in years. We headed for dinner first followed by drinks and snacks at this place.

So a meet up between my old group of friends we headed over to Robert Timms, the service staff was there to greet us promptly. Since there was no smoking table, my friends and i had no choice but to move in to the air-conditioned area. The seats were very comfortable and i felt really good.

Once the smoking table was available, the waiter called us immediately. My friends and i shared an Eggs Benedict. This was really awesome as the yolk melted and broke very nicely. This is probably the only time i like my eggs runny apart from mixing it with sambal fried rice. Servings were quite small but the price wasnt that bad.

Upon which, we ordered our drinks, one of my friends had a hazelnut latte which was delightful! Very aromatic and tasty while my other friend had some frappe, it tasted pretty good but i was not very happy with mine maybe coz i dont really like sugar. I order some banana chocolate frappe which was extremely sweet! Not to my liking but if you guys like sweet stuff... this is one treat for you.

Overall an awesome experience...

Unorthodox but tasty OK Dec 17, 2012   (Related Review)

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I am not a Japanese food lover because i simply dont really like that... But i tried something there that kinda changed my mind about japanese food. I mean the only thing i know about Jap food that is good is the Ramen. The one from Ajisen Ramen is really interesting as i like something spicy.

So heading to northpoint, i had no idea where to dine. My close friend introduced me to this place call Ishimura where i tried the omelet rice with the salmon and a mixture of mushrooms.

My reaction was " are u kidding" when the dish came. It was so little, i could laterally count the mushrooms and my index finger is longer than the salmon and it was covered in cream sauce.

However, when i tasted the dish, i had a change of mind! The omelet rice was quite averagely done but the salmon and the mushrooms went so well with each other such that they complemented each other! Wow!!! I was quite happy! The only problem was that i wasnt full and the worse part was that it was quite late so the shopping centre was about to close but luckily i had a bun earlier as that satisfied my hunger.

Ambience
The ambience was pretty good and as the Christmas season is in progress, Christmas carols were being played to suit the mood and as for the seating arrangement, the traditional Japanese chairs were used but for me being big sized, the ergonomics should be adjusted sometimes. I mean i rather sit on the stool.

Service

The lady that served us was ok but when i asked her if others were available, the response was monotonous. I have nothing to complain about. Il just be honest.

Conclusion

I think that it is best to go back there if you want cheaper Japanese food as you can find something decent for below $10. I probably will go back there.

Unorthodox but tasty!
