Times change and Prices fly OK Jun 05, 2013

I entered Republic Poly in 2007 and left in 2010. This place has maintained the same standard for the past few years that i have been there. All i have to say is that when i first entered and as a new student, you are getting used to the food and the new place you can't decide on where you are going to have your breaks or your lunch. The first day that i came here, i ate at this very stall. Back then it was called "Indonesian BBQ" with $2.80... ayam bakar (Grilled chicken and sweet sauce) with rice.... It was served with egg and the coconut curry as i can clearly remember.

Before i left school, I had the dish again and tried the ayam penyet. (Fried Smash chicken) served with the same items and the sambal wah... sedap la sia... Sedap to the max but... there is always a but in here.... It costs up to $4.50 before i left. That was the last of what i saw back in 2010.

Good days as Times change and prices fly....

Not consistent OK Jun 05, 2013

I have come to Serangoon Gardens many times to find out that this place has a very fluctuating standard of service.

I have been coming here for years and i have been hoping that its service will improved and sometimes i feel that it has been improving and it has been better and at times it has been declining in its standards of service.

For example during March this year, i was heading there since one of my friends is residing around that area. A simple meet up at a relaxing location was ideal for a Saturday night! The service was sub-standard and the food was below par.

A couple of weeks later i decided to head there again and their service was fantastic, very prompt and a lot of initiative was taken by the staff. Do take note, i will be very fair when it comes to service and comparison, with the crowd being about the same and the service staff being equal in strength. You can tell when a service staff is busy and when it isn't. Working in F&B, you might probably know..

To further prove my point, i went there a couple more times because the "chill" factor was there, an array of up and down service was being presented to us. Just booze and beers were consumed during the visits. We ordered a constant however, and that was the nachos chips with the cheese and salsa dip.. Cold cheese and nachos do not really go well together and furthermore, the dip was a measly squeeze and when we asked for a top up with payment, it was lesser and the reaction was priceless...

However, if you are looking for a chill here, just come order some booze and beer because the ambience is good, it is dark and there is English Premier League that plays on Saturday night.

Sausage Donut OK May 27, 2013

Different places have different services.... and now i can never imagine how busy it is in this outlet... Overcrowded and busy i have respect for all that the crew can do...

Firstly on a Saturday afternoon, you go to any part of Bugis Junction, you will never be able to find a seat anywhere... and i really do mean it...

So i headed over to four leaves to grab a bite before my jamming sessions... Thinking about all this actually makes me very tired so i was heading over to my studio... The sausage donut was actually a way of calming myself down...

Tasty and good...

Inconsistent Standard OK May 27, 2013

It was a Friday night. Just before we were heading over to my friends place, we decided to have dinner and be merry before we decided to be hungry again in the night. So a couple of us headed over to Shah Alam.

I wanted to order Indian Curry with rice and waited for a good 5 minutes. If they are busy i get it but the place was only half filled. I ordered 1 serving of chicken, 1 serving of potato and 1 serving of vegetable. The amount of rice offered was way too much, almost a "mountain" of it. I cannot imagine finishing that amount of rice.

The chicken was very nice, nice breast meat with the wing intact. The potato was good, definitely cooked on the day itself (I know my potatoes well and could tell if it has been kept for a day and will taste stale)

Awesome sauce OK May 20, 2013

Nothing can beat the days of having a fish burger in a chicken store... Went to popeyes after watching a movie.. Since it was an afternoon movie, i had a chance to have a n early dinner or should i say late snack... My friends and i shared the fish sandwich...

The fish was good... the cajun fries were not that bad and the drink was good but what was best was the sauce... Tasted like tartar sauce.... so unique.... so interesting but very fresh... Seems like they make their sauce fresh. You must try it to believe it...
