American cuisine near home Smile Oct 11, 2012

I stay around this area and i also love American cuisine. I have not found something really good until this place opened. This place is packed for lunch and dinner even on weeknights. However, i have become a regular at this place. lol.

The ambience is really cool and cosy with some American country music and some memorabilia from the American traditional arts scene.

Lunch here is served hot with free soup and free flow of soft drinks. I spent less than 30 bucks for fish and chips for my mum and a ribeye steak for myself.

Usually, they will serve the soup quite hot because thats the way i like it and pn this occasion, it was somewhat similar. I had chicken gumbo soup basically, small chicken chunks with vegetables and rice in the soup. (Be careful of the bones) It had a little spice to it but i am always cool with that. The other soup i tried was the mushroom soup, a little tasteless but there are lots of condiments to cater to all sorts of tastebuds.

The ribeye steak i had was ok, i ordered medium because i wanted a little raw and a little cooked. Served with the baked cheese potato and coleslaw. It was too hearty of a meal that i decided to skip the desert. The fish and chips was good and served with a lot of spicy fries and some cooling coleslaw as we were too full, we couldnt finish.

Above all this, the waitresses there know that we are regulars and serves ALL Guests promptly. They have a high tech ordering system using an electronic tabloid to input customers orders. Furthermore, when you dig in to your meal, they will check on you to see if all is good. Wonderful. Its a good thing i stay near.

Awesome dinner at ghandi  Smile Oct 04, 2012

Categories : Indian

My close friend called me last week to go and try out this place. Wonderful experience! This place is not easy to find as it is not very direct, i still cant remember how to get there. However, its worth the travel to this place. For those of you who are not familiar with indian style dining and eating habits, this place will make you learn a lot about the cuisine more. It serves vegetarian and non vegetarian cuisines. This stuff is really spicy and it makes you extremely full. Lots of white rice fragrant and huge in portions down with mutton sambal and chicken sambal!! It is extremely crowded and if you are not used to crowds... well then...lol

The utensils are all metal that includes the cups. Ok this is really awesome, the curry is free flow. What happens is that the server will bring your desired curry be it mutton, fish or chicken will be served to you! After meals, there will be indian sweets and either youghurt where you will have to purchase of course but it is worth it.

Less than $30 Prawns, mutton sambal, chicken sambal, chicken masala, free flow of rice, free flow of curry, 3 lime juices among 2 people is really cheap for some indian food. lollollollol

I love ghandi restaurant!!!lolloltonguetonguelollollollollol

I walked into Steam Sia knowing very little to expect as it is a new place.

To my amazement, it reminded me of my primary school days and even earlier. There were yaohan vouchers, country erasers where we could battle it out with our erasers etc.

The seats were really nicely done up along with the tables which reminded me of some coffee shops when i was really young. Wooden chairs and marble top tables i think.

As for the food, i had a taste of the Nonya Chicken Curry. I mean c'mon, i don't really find this much in other food stalls. Its not too mild but at the same time it ain't that spicy either. It was served with a french loaf that was nice and soft and it was very complemented with each other.

Apart from that, i tried out the salmon with the mashed potatoes. Now this is a superb dish, coming from a person that doesn't eat as much salmon. It had a fresh and juicy taste to the palette. The mash potatoes was average but i wasnt complaining.

The plating of the dishes were served in a very homely feel. It was the ol school plates, very traditional. The portions are worth for that prices. You can rarely find this kinds of concepts these days. This is really what makes Steam Sia very different. I like to taste, I love the concept and i will go back there anytime lol

Like old (the design in terms of memories and nostalgia)
Like new (new to me as i havent seen these much)
Like nice (I simply love it)

Il be back for more at Steam Sia!!!

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

As far as i have been living, in Whampoa, Hokkien Noodles, is one of the night markets best dish. It is easily available on the weekdays except Monday. Try getting this on a sunday night. One of my cousin's come all the way from Sengkang to this place if he ever wants to tuck in to this delectable awesome dish. An average plate enough to fill a normal person is $3 and for me well, i like it at $4. The noodles are nice and moist accompanied by fresh squid and prawns. The sambal is absoultely delicious as it is being treated with some lime to make this dish absolutely fantastic.

I have been staying here for a long time and it has stayed the same way ever since i can remember on how the dish has tasted. The 2 brothers have known me to be a regular in that hawker centre. The taste is simply wonderful and they depend on each other to run the business. There is nothing more i can say.

Times change and Prices fly OK Jun 05, 2013

Categories : Malay

I entered Republic Poly in 2007 and left in 2010. This place has maintained the same standard for the past few years that i have been there. All i have to say is that when i first entered and as a new student, you are getting used to the food and the new place you can't decide on where you are going to have your breaks or your lunch. The first day that i came here, i ate at this very stall. Back then it was called "Indonesian BBQ" with $2.80... ayam bakar (Grilled chicken and sweet sauce) with rice.... It was served with egg and the coconut curry as i can clearly remember.

Before i left school, I had the dish again and tried the ayam penyet. (Fried Smash chicken) served with the same items and the sambal wah... sedap la sia... Sedap to the max but... there is always a but in here.... It costs up to $4.50 before i left. That was the last of what i saw back in 2010.

Good days as Times change and prices fly....
