Fish baked rice Smile Jun 18, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Café

This is one of my favorite places for its baked rice. It comes with a soup of the day, which is usually very delicious. The soup today was corn soup, which was flavorful and sweet.

I ordered the fish baked rice this time. The rice is not soggy, nicely baked with lots of cheese that fills the entire plate. The fish is soft and goes very well with the cheese and cream. The portion of the rice is quite a lot and I could not finish them, especially with the amount of cheese that makes one even fuller.

Fruity White Sago Dessert Smile Jun 10, 2011

This dessert outlet is always packed with people as they served delicious and wonderful dessert. I ordered one of their best sellers. The picture must have already triggered your taste buds. The presentation is good and aesthetically pleasing with so quite a few colours. This dessert contains attap seed, mango, banana, apricots, fruit seeds and white sago in coconut milk. The coconut milk is not too thick and sweet so does not make one sick of it. The coconut milk is very smooth and you could bite the fruit seeds and sago when you place it in your mouth. The fruits make this dessert very refreshing. I love the mango and attap seeds especially. The mangos were sweet and attap seeds have a very good bite.

Curry Puff Smile Jun 07, 2011

Categories : Sweets/Snack | Kids-Friendly

Just standing near the stall, you could sniff the curry fragrance coming out from this curry puff stall. At $1.30 for a piece, it is slightly costly but it certainly is delectable. I think it is better than Old Chang Kee curry puff. The curry puff is still hot when I bought it. The skin is crispy and it does not stick to one’s teeth and it is not dry too which I think is very important. The filling has potato, egg and chicken and the amount given is pretty decent. Though this is a deep fried food, after eating the mouth does not get really oily at all thus does not make one sick of it. The curry fragrance lingers in your mouth and it is not spicy at all. The chicken is tender and the potato is soft. This curry puff is really a good snack to have.

Steak Smile Jun 02, 2011

At outback, bread will be served before your main dish. The bread is long and dark brown with wheat grains on it. The bread is fragrant and taste good.

The buffalo wings was well seasoned and very crispy. It was a little spicy too.

The best dish of the night was the steak. Just by looking at the dark brown texture and thickness of the steak can make one salivate already. The wellness of the steak was medium. It has a warm, pink center with a touch of red. The steak was tender and succulent. It taste as good without the mushroom sauce as well.

The service from the staff was good too. They would ask if the steak was cooked properly.

Mee siam Smile Jun 02, 2011
Categories : Coffeeshop | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

I was here for breakfast and apart from western food, they sell mee siam, lontong and other fried items. Not sure if they are only available in the morning.. In the morning, there is usually quite a queue at the stall.

The mee siam is really popular among the customers. It is not too spicy and the gravy is tasty with a little sourish, the way mee siam should be. I ordered takeaway and they kindly separated the gravy and noodles, lest the noodles get soggy.
