Double cheese beef burger Smile May 28, 2011

Their range of burgers is really one of my favorite. I decided to try another burger this time - the double cheese beef burger. This has not been a disappointment as well.

The burger had 2 beef patties, as the name suggests, slices of melted cheese and some vegetables. The bread has a nice buttery taste and the cheese has melted onto the beef patty and bread. The beef patty was thick and flavorful and keeps me wanting more. It was so filling that I could barely touch the fries afterwards.

Baby Back Pork Ribs Smile May 25, 2011

This is a nice restaurant for a date with a good ambience and can look at the Singapore river and the beauty of the CBD area at night. I went there on a Friday so the bar was already pretty packed and the restaurant at the 2nd level also started filling up as dinner time approached. I ordered the baby back pork ribs and it was served with seasoned wedges and red cabbage slaw. The pork ribs were fantastic as it was very well flavoured by the sauce. The meat was tantalizing soft and it just addicts you with every bite. I am not a potato lover so I was really impressed by the wedges. The seasoning on the wedges certainly attracted my taste bud and they were really crispy. I loved coleslaw and the red cabbage slaw did not disappoint me. It was crunchy and sweet. The service was really good too as the waiter responds to my request immediately. This is really a good place for nice food, environment and ambience.

Hokkaido Meronpan Smile May 25, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Bakery

The bread from this shop all looks pretty and tasty. Do not be tricked by the colour of this bread, the colour does not look very appealing but the design is indeed special and it tastes good. The filling in the bread is white lotus paste and it is not very sweet. At $1.30, I think this bread is worth the buy.

However, I think the Green Pumpkin bread which was indicated as the best-seller was overated. The design of the bread certainly looks exquisite and delicious but it does not really suit my taste. Perhaps I am biased as I am not really a pumpkin lover. The pumpkin filling is not totally dry and from the picture it is a little moist. This bread costs $1.60 and I think it is pretty expensive.

Wife's biscuit Smile May 24, 2011

I love the bread and pastries from Crystal Jade. If only they could open more outlets..

I bought the original wife's biscuit (lao po bing) in a box of 4. The skin is very crispy and fresh. The filling is fragrant and not too sweet. You can heat it up in the oven and it tastes even better. The biscuit does not feel oily. It is definitely one of the better lao po bing around.

There are other flavors, such as the the lotus paste.

Nasi biryani Smile May 24, 2011

I was here at lunch time and there was a long queue at this stall. I ordered the chicken nasi briyani, which was the popular dish there. The service was quite fast despite the long queue.

The rice was the long kind and is very fragrant with the curry sauce. The chicken is very tender and pretty spicy with the chili. They asked if I wanted vegetables, and I said yes, though not knowing what vegetable is that. The vegetable is a type of gourd I think. The sauce is a little sourish, very appetizing.

The rice serving is a lot, probably enough to be shared by 2.
