Dim sum Smile Jan 30, 2012

I have always see this 'face' logo of this restaurant whenever I go for my grocery shopping at NTUC. The restaurant was tuck edaway in this multi storey car at Marine Parade. And I never expected this place to be so big. It seem to be popular for people to hold weddings and one month celebrations as there was a board of events display at the entrance.

I like the idea where push cart are used for dim sum as it remind me of restaurant which I visited in Hong Kong.It is quite hard to find such place in singapore and I am delighted when I see one in marine parade.

The porridge came in a middle size bowl. The quantity was just nice to fill half my stomach so that I can ordered other items. Like most places, the porridge was smooth and sweet tasting. Very traditonal taste...

The Chee Cheong Fun was great! It was abit thick but still very tender. I also like the idea that they give this vegetable with chee cheong fun, which also taste nice with the sauce.

Good place for family gathering as VIP are equipped with Karaoke system!! But I remember the waitress told me it has to meet a minimum spending.sad

I heard of this curry puff for a long time but this was the first time I had tried it. The fillings are rich but it had a rather strong curry powder taste, and it tasted kind of spicy for me. There was not much chunk meat found in my puff , which I was rather disappointed as I always heard people telling me that the chicken meat was alot!. The egg slice was tuck in the corner of the puff , and I was expected it to be in the middle. Maybe my piece happened to be the 'faulty" piece as I can see other enjoying it.

lamb  Smile Jan 29, 2012

One of the trademark dishes of Secret Recipe chain when they first started out and I have not tried it for a long time. Decided to order this while waiting for my daughter's class to end. The gravy was still as savoury and rich and went well with the mash potatoes which was done well with great consistency and not lumpy. The lamb was tender and easily fell off the bone with a fork. With bread, the gravy complimented it perfectly.

No more queue for me this year as I preordered and went there to collect it early. This is the one and only ba Kwa that I will eat when I had first tried this 3 years ago. They had just increased the price this year. But they do not increase prices during the chinese new year , so we are still paying the normal price. No preservatives was added to this ba kwa so the balance had to be kept in the fridge after 3 days to retain its freshness. Unlike other ba kwa that I have tried, this one consists of only lean meat, and thick lean meat. Imagine sinking your teeth into 5mm thick of ba kwa, that is the feeling I get each time I eat it. The sweetness is well balanced and each bite you take makes you want to have more, that you can easily finish an entire slice. The only thing stopping me from going for the second slice was the filling effect after eating one piece as well as fear of putting on weight smile Must try.

mee siam Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Western | Café | Halal | Kids-Friendly

The mee siam was really shiok! Gravy was thick and fragrance and the bowl was large enough to fill my empty stomach in the morning. The meal comes with 1 complimentary tea/coffee, and it is refillable. This promotion is only meant for early birds who come in before 10 am on weekdays. I also like their toasted bread with cheese and ham. As the item was served hot, the cheese was "flowing" out when I sank a bite, just like eating pizza. Satisfying breakfast !
