Authentic Japanese Italian Cafe Smile Apr 25, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Japanese

A Japanese friend told me in Japan there are authentic western cuisines and adopted Japanese western cuisine, and Nigiro is the latter and it carried itself a really nice way as a Japanese Western cafe.

It's detailed in taste and presentation of food brought you to Japan. The place is cosy and at the end of the corridor of this Japanese food court. Also it gives a great balance of the taste... Just like the salad the cheese would never be overwhelming and you could still feel the freshness of the leaves, and the fruit tart is not overly sweet but you could feel the juiciness in the fruits.

Ambience is great as if you're in Japan... The colour tone of the coffee shop is light, tidy and warm, with some pictures of Singapore made you feel the existence of the willingness of adaptation to this lion city.

chopstickchopstickchopsticklikelikelikeThe Singapore vegetarian cuisine is now having its gap filled by this fantastic vegetarian restaurant for its innovative and high end dishes.

We started with the vegetarian sashimi. I just can't help but appreciating the innovation of the chef of using coconut meat to imitate squid sashimi and it's just perfects. You cannot imagine how good it is when it's tasted with wasabi and soy sauce. It also served the vegetarian salmon with umibudo ('sea grapes') the famous food of Okinawa. Just fantastic and you don't fee like having vegetarian dishes.

The veggie steak of portobello and enoki tempura is just unforgettable. The steak is so full of favour and you could hardly imagine that it's the taste without meat. It's succinct texture is just like having medium rare steak.

The charcoal tempura with gold flake is luxurious and tasty. Its taste is still complicated and the chef has unleashed the potential of the taste of the meatless ingredient!

The service of the restaurant is interesting and we feel very surprised for the extra chocolate cake prepared for the birthday dinner!

Great food nice decoration Smile Apr 25, 2016

flowerPurvis Street is full of good restaurants and Clinton Street Baking Company is no exception. We just walked by and saw this new and bright restaurant and so we went into it.

The place is nicely decorated and you felt that you're in a tidy western cafe in Tokyo, that is, bright and tidy with light colour as its theme, and attention to details.

We tried Fried Chicken Plate and Veggie burger.

Fried Chicken Plate you felt that you are having a luxury and properly cooked version of KFC. The skin is crispy and not oily, and the chicken is quite tender. Maybe the only thing to criticized is that it's not warm enough. We matched it with salad and it's like coleslaw with some good mix of herbs which are great match with the chicken.

The veggie burger is just great. The veggie patty is filled with herbs are the taste just stayed in your mouth. The juicy tomato and the slightly crispy surface of the patty is a perfect match, together with the leafy salad.

Highly recommended. Price is quite reasonably with this quality of food.
Yummy!

Yummy!

The best of its kind in Singapore Smile Feb 28, 2016

Categories : Japanese

lol It's certainly the best of its kind.  Maybe you might think that it's portion is not so big and a bit pricey, but its value for money!

The katsu pork loin is always juicy and moist, not so lean, and the katsu is crispy and still kept the good golden colour.  Shredded cabbage is fresh and could be refilled.

We also tried the yam on rice and it's very authentic.  The mix of yam and the basil is a magic touch.  smile

Only thing to criticize maybe the katsu oyster could be more juicier, while I know it might take the risk of not being well cooked.

Very good hospitality, nice food, and even the toro sashimi which supposedly not a signiture dish in a katsu restaurant it's still very fresh and tender.

lollol Very good Nonya food served here especially it's Ngo Hiong (五香) and Otah served on sizzling hot plate.  Ngo Hiong leaves traces of Allspice, and the skin is crispy and the minced meat inside is quite fluffy and with good flavour.  Otah is great and it's the first time I have it served on hot plate.  It's juicy and also fluffy and not chewy.

Very good Nonya food in general but it's Chinese food is just so so.  So you should know what to order there.

Service is attentive and quick.
