madmadbowlchopstick I tried some other Japanese vegetarian restaurants and it seems that many of them are just serving noodles and vegetarian sushi.  Sometimes vegetarian sashimi are just too artificial.

Here in Teng they have more variety like paper hot pot, soba, tempura and desserts.  They tried to make the taste as close as it is to the real ones and this effort is highly appreciated.

The decoration is decent as a Japanese restaurant.  It's a place to come again.

lollol The waffle is always the best in town!  People are saying that here's noisy and crowded but it's the icon of popularity!  It's exactly the same as 2am dessert bar and it has its icon which is the buttermilk waffle.

The waffle is slightly crispy and soft inside.   Never stale in my 2 attempts to there.  It's match with vanilla ice cream is always perfect.

The coffee is good but still like many other artisan hand craft coffee places they are not as delicate as Japanese coffee where you could always find them as soft as silk.  If it's to improve is to enhance the after taste of the coffee and prolong the time the aroma staying in your mouth. If the temperature of the glass could be kept warm always it'd be good, although I fully understand that the weakness of serving with glasses like that if its getting too warm it's difficult to hold - that's why many other coffee shops in the world use ceramic cups!!!

Other breakfast items are refreshing and healthy but there are improvement in having more complicated taste, like the salad with avocado mash on toast it'd put some balsamic vinegar on  the salad to make the taste more interesting.

Again it's always a good coffee place to go in this area!

chopstickbowlsmile I have been to this restaurant several times and also tried 'Butadon' in Obihiro in Hokkaido. The taste they brought from Hokkaido to Singapore is a good move and gives more variety of food to this city.

Butadon is a famous type of don specifically in Obihiro in Hokkaido.  Unlike many people might think Hokkaido is famous for crabs and sashimi, Butadon specified the history of how Japanese explored Hokkaido by bringing the pigs and cows to start with, and that's why in Obihiro people developed this famous don.

In general its similar to the taste in Obihiro, and the pork are not dry after grilled and put on the rice.  The seasoning are good and gave slightly complicated taste to the pork slices.

Environment in the restaurant is comfortable where people could just come and have a quick lunch and go (back to work).  Service is good and quite attentive.

I think the cooking method is alright.  If the ingredient chosen are more carefully chosen would be perfect as undeniably the pork and pea in Japan are jucier and sweeter.  I really appreciate them bringing this special type of food all the way from Hokkaido to Singapore.  頑張れ!

chopstickbowl Food centre always gives an image of grassroot and cheap eats.  Palette tried to transform it to a classy environment in this new Capitol Piazza mall.

The food are more than ok, although still have a small gap with the best hawkers market local food,  it has done its best to combine itself with the classy environment around it.  I tried Hokkien Mee, bakuteh, dim sum and double boiled soup.  All are good with some improvement areas: the meat of bakuteh is soft and very tender, and the cartridge is easily crushed, while the soup is too salty.  Dim sum are good in terms of taste, but the chef should fill more egg custard in the egg tarts.  Good poached choy sum.  Hokkien Mee is with good taste, but the prawns were frozen and thus the meat doesn't have good texture.  Double boiled soup is good,  good and big piece of fish maw.

What's missing are Teh C and Kopi C which are not available here... sad

The service is v good.  It's a food centre with waiters and waitresses and they have been doing a good job here!

Nice dessert after dinner Smile Jul 02, 2015

lollol We wanted to go to Nassim Hill bakery but was attracted by this place as it's just opposite to Tanglin Mall and it's quite eye catching in the evening as it shines in the dark.

We just had the desserts there.  2 choices for the evening.  One is the Blackberry sponge cake with yoghurt (I think it's yoghurt) and crumble with burnt pear.  Two of them are great as they are not excessively sweet and are mixed with some savoury flavour.  I particularly like the burnt pear as the thyme gave a nice sparkle to the sweet vanilla ice cream.  The caramelized pear are also not overly sweet and mixed well with the crumble and the herb.

Nice discovery and I could come again.
