As the name suggests of this cafe, Cozy Corner Coffee is set in a corner of Everton Park and is a cafe that prides itself with good coffee. They serve up a wide range of brewed coffee as well as flavoured ones. There will be surely something for every coffee lover out there.
Walk inside and you will see one side of the wall with black and white graffiti wallpaper. The space is spacious, clean and chic. I particularly like their full length glass doors and windows, making the cafe have an open and welcoming feeling. Cozy Corner has free wifi and we saw several students studying when we were there.
Cozy Corner offers some cakes for those with sweet tooth. Prices are quite reasonably ranged from $5.80 to $6 plus. Besides cakes, they also offer Savoury food for the hungry such as Pasta, Lasagne and Paninis all priced below $10. They do not have an extensive selection of food but I guess, is sufficient to food the hungry.
As we were there for tea, we tried their Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake. I was a tat bit disappointed because there really wasn't much Salted Caramel Taste. Rather, I felt like I was having a chocolate cake. The chocolate layers were nice and rich but, the cream layers lack oomph.
They also have magazines in the cafe for those looking for something to read while having some cake and coffee. What's more to life than an afternoon spent reading while having a slice of cake and a drink? For those who are looking for such a place, Cozy Corner can be on your list.

For more photos and full review, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2014/04/invited-tasting-roosevelts-diner-bar.html
Roosevelt's Diner & Bar is an all-day diner and bar that serves up a wide range of American-style dishes and drinks at affordable prices in an ambient setting. When we stepped into Roosevelt's we felt that we entered a diner in New York; with it's full length windows, industrial-chic interior and cozy ambience.
We were there at evening time and the restaurant was lighted up with warm, orange ceiling bulbs and candles were placed on every table. Patrons could truly feel relaxed and at ease in this warm environment. We also really liked that the furniture were nicely spaced out as it allows diners to have sufficient personal space to engage in conversations comfortably.
We got to find out that Roosevelt's pride themselves for their extensive Wine Menu. Apart from that, they also serve up a few types of Beer and cocktails. As both of us enjoy White Wine better than Red, we sampled all 3 of their Whites. The lightest of the three is the Blanc-Combard ($6 for 75ml) from France. It is slightly acetic with some fruity aroma. The next in line is the Sauvignon Blanc ($7 for 75ml) from New Zealand. It has a fruity taste and I feel is the least spicy wine of the three. The strongest is the Chardonnay, slightly woody with fruity flavours and a buttery note.
We ordered the Garlic Prawns ($12) as one of our Side Dish. Roosevelt's sides range from $7-$12 each. We would love to try their other sides such as Truffle Fries and Fried Oysters the next time we are here. Z's favourite is the Garlic Prawns. She likes is so much that she had 2 servings. The prawns are evenly cooked with an aromatic garlic flavour. The prawns are crunchy whichI would prefer to the soggy ones.
Another side that we tried is their Jalapeño Bacon Mac and Cheese ($11). The Jalapeño flavour was really strong and it added a spicy note to the dish. What was different from Roosevelt's Mac and Cheese is that the added a layer of Bread Crumbs on it, which made the whole Mac and Cheese drier in nature. Personally, I would like the Mac and Cheese to be less dry.
For our dessert, we ordered the Flourless Chocolate cake served with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream as well as Mixed Berries and Apple Crumble also topped with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. I like that they pair their dessert with Ice Cream as it gives the desserts a balance.
Overall, we had a good dinner, completed with great drinks and desserts!

Old-school themed cafe Smile Apr 23, 2014

The first thing that will catch your eye when you approach The Provision Shop is the row of small colourful chairs lined at the corridor. As you enter the place, you will see these colours on the wall; be it on paintings, on their furniture or their tableware. They give the place a vintage modern chic feel in contrast with the white and black-tiled walls.

I like how all the slightest details in the cafe are consistent with the theme of restaurant. We ordered a Long Black ($4) and Flat White ($5). The coffee was served in old school cups. We found the coffee quite aromatic. The coffee price is quite reasonable I would say. For non-coffee lovers, The Provision Shop also serve up alcoholic beverages such as beer and cider as well as non-alcoholic floats and teas.
Belinda Perogis ($6) was chosen because it looked interesting from the menu. It is actually Polish dumplings filled with mashed potato and cheese. Something like a gnocchi or a tortellini. It is topped with sour cream, bacon and onions. If you would like extra toppings, you can add $1. This dish was served hot. Personally, I adore anything with cheese and thus, I quite like this dish.
The Provision Shop also offers other hot food such as sandwiches, pastas and more. I think there is probably something for everyone.
Overall, I would say The Provision Shop scores in its ambience as well as it's consistency in theme. I guess service is something that can be brushed up on as a warm and welcoming service adds another pull factor to the cafe.

Good coffee, good ambience Smile Apr 18, 2014

Percolate has a small seating capacity, probably enough for only 20? The walls of the cafe are painted in Black and White with wood-textured furniture. I like the vibe of the cafe - simple, small and cozy. As it is still a relatively new cafe, we were quite happy that the cafe was not crowded. It is definitely difficult to find an empty cafe these days where you can simply just sit, read a book and chill the afternoon away.

We decided to try out two of their desserts that were offered. Besides desserts, Percolate also serves up simple sandwiches for those who are looking for something savoury.

Chocolate Espresso Tart was one of our choices. My friend really like this tart. The tart is not very sweet which was good. I like the crust of the tart whereby its quantity was quite balanced with the Chocolate Espresso filling in it.

The coffee was good and strong. We all agreed that the coffee was affordable and value-for-money. The coffee comes in either black or white; hot or cold. The white coffee comes in two sizes (3oz or 5oz). Hot coffee are priced below $4 and teas are priced at $5.

I saw two other patrons ordered Iced Chocolate and was so tempted just by the look of the drink. Look at it below! The iced chocolate has chocolate infused in the milk. It was appropriately sweet with the right amount of chocolate. I like that it can be refreshing and chocolatey at the same time.

Overall, I enjoyed my time at Percolate. We also appreciated that the staff were very friendly. One of them even waved goodbye to us when we left the place. I would definitely be back at Percolate for its coffee and warm ambience! Would love to try their bundt cakes the other time round.

For full review and more photos, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2014/03/stew-kuche.html

Stew Kuche is situated in a coffee shop near Queensway shopping centre and Ikea. The coffee shop has other cool stalls such as Brown Sugar by Eskimo and Deburg burgers. It is definitely worth your time to check out this new generation coffee shop!

They have a wide variety of beer at affordable prices. There is a draft beer counter as well!

German Pork Knuckle:
Whole Knuckle- $25
Half Knuckle- $15

This is really good and delicious! The skin is sooooo crispy and savory that you just cannot have enough of it. I think if you have a huge appetite, half a knuckle is probably just right for you. Or else, you can probably share it with someone! The meat is really tender as well and it goes so well with the skin! It comes with achar and mashed potatoes as well. Pork knuckle is a must-try here!
